Come tomorrow, October is just about halfway done! Well, October has 31 days and it's an odd number so technically it's like 15 1/2 for it to be half, but whatever.

Hanukkah starts on Thanksgiving this year. I'm such a kid. I love me some latkes aka potato pancakes. So good.

I am excited for Halloween AND Thanksgiving (and Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's Eve). I LOVE holidays!

Alyssa, would you share your recipe for latkes with me? What sort of cooking equipment do I need to make them right? Does it take a special skillet? Or a deep fryer?

And what sort of accoutrements do you serve with them? I want to make them just like you do!

I only ask about Daylight Saving Time, because I cannot get up in the morning when it is still dark outside. I am so looking forward to a little bit of sunlight when I wake up!

But yeah, when it starts getting dark in the afternoon, that's tough, too.

I hear that. Definitely easier to get up. If only they could make it so that it was light out early but stayed light out later, too.

I just hate the idea of a Monday evening and it's dark and cold. But the good news is eventually spring and summer will come again

What brand? For years now, I have dreamed of trying a good latke. I want to make it happen. I love hash browns. They are like one of my all-time favorite foods. So in my imagination, I would love latkes, too. I really want to try a good one, especially the first time. I wish I knew of a restaurant that makes them well.

Anybody want any southern recipes? Richmond isn't in the deep South, but we are still southerners!

for christmas we are making this biiiig baking marathon at home. husband and I baked 13 different kinds last year

I love baking cookies, too! That sounds like so much fun. A baking marathon with your significant other sounds blissful.

I never make biscuits, but a teacher friend makes them and brings them to work filled with eggs and bacon some mornings. Her made-from-scratch biscuits are SO good. I could ask for her recipe? It cannot be too difficult, since she makes them before school and brings them with her early in the morning.
