The Writers' Room ✒️ {Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz} #3 "In a round about way they are writing fairy tale fanfics."
The Writers' Room Appreciation Thread http://omfgtv.com/wp-content/uploads...m-horowitz.jpg ✒️ interviews and newsEdward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz EDWARD KITSIS & ADAM HOROWITZ, creators/executive producers Edward Kitsis’s & Adam Horowitz’s partnership began in their Introduction to Film class at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After successfully nabbing a B-minus on their first collaboration, the duo decided to take on Hollywood, and, following graduation, the two moved to Los Angeles to pursue their writing careers. After cutting their teeth on such shows as “Popular” and “Felicity,” they joined the writing staff of “Lost” during its first year. In 2006 they won WGA Awards for their work on the show and, over the course of its six-season run, they earned multiple Emmy, WGA and PGA nominations. For the final two seasons they served as executive producers while simultaneously writing the hit feature film “Tron: Legacy” and creating the Annie Award-nominated animated television series “Tron: Uprising” for Disney XD. After “Lost,” the two immediately began the development process on a pilot that would become their first primetime creation: “Once Upon a Time.” In 2013 they expanded their storytelling universe with ABC’s “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” and, most recently, they co-created the summer camp thriller anthology “Dead of Summer” for Freeform with Ian B. Goldberg.

The question we got from everyone, including the network, when we wrote the pilot and produced it was, “Well, where does the series go?” The idea is that, yes, we’re going to go back and forth between worlds, but exploring these characters and the mysteries of what makes them who they are is where the show will go. At its heart, it will be a character show, and the mysteries will be characters mysteries. That said, we can’t resist the temptation to put in little Easter eggs and big pictures stuff, but it’s really about who these characters are, where they’re going to go, how they’re going to grow, and how they’re going to figure out the situation they’re in." ~ HOROWITZ past threads 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | The Writers' Room ✒️ {Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz} #4 "At the end of the day, this is really expensive fan fiction." ~ Eddie Kitsis |

TFTNT. You can add me to the list :flowers: Have been following Jane Espenson on Twitter and I think she's incredible. Really loved her work in Battlestar Galactica.

I am not suprised that Jmo knew their were clues at the end of the second half on who Bae was
|
Tftnt :)

I think I was watching as a pretty oblivious viewer up until now. Everything surprised me (although I had a feeling the guy in NYC in the opener of Season 2 was Bae, I wasn't that oblivious)
Now I am snooping for every detail I can so I'll see how my viewing of the show changes :) |
I think for me who watched Season 1 in one week whilst season 2 came on, i didnt see Red being the wolf, which i thought was cool and so on. Also one of the reasons i never got attached to Graham as a character, coz i hadnt had the time to watch it week by week like it comes on, just all the episodes in a week. I really liked Jefferson/Mad Hatter too.
I think actors that need to know the important stuff they know... like as you said JMo know, DAnders knew who he was, and I assume Meghan knew she was the wolf etc. I also think Colin knew where Hook's arc is going, and how he played that (inspiration was also from Princess Bride) and who he gonna be involved with - Emma. Same as JMo said in the OUAT magazine that she has a flame of hope with Graham and now Hook and most of the media article since the beanstalk episode with TVLine and EOnline, her and Hook have a connection, kindred spirits etc... and also she knew that there was gonna be some kind of triangle. I think once you figure out how OUAT works as a show and episode structure and storyline structure, its easy to kinda figure out. Its one of the main reasons i never saw Neal as much of a love interest for Emma or character coz the show didnt emphasis on his character as much or from his pov (Neal i say NOT Bae - Bae worked well as a flashbacks), and you can tell with how they wrote him, again plot device he always felt. Because if he was suppose to be more, then they would of added him in a way that would make him more central based and certainly not have his story with Emma shown in one episode - beginning, middle and end... but they did and it was to show us what happened and what issues and walls Emma got and who from and why past v present/future with Hook.... as i said you can tell how certain structure things in this show are, I also get surprised when some ppl says there must be another man with the lion tattoo for Regina, like im sure we saw the man Robin Hood in the episode it was revealed lol , so why is there this discussion in the first place lol |
I think the writers try and tell us everything we need to know through the dialogue and what they show and tell us in the scenes. They do try and surprise us but I don't think anything has been shocking or horribly out of character.
When they opened Season 2 with Neal in NYC they might as well have has a Broadway marquee lit up underneath him saying "HE'S IMPORTANT TO THE STORY." But I was still slightly surprised to find out that not only was he Bae but he was Henry's father! |
I wanted some random dude to be Henry's dad lol.... see my mindset was that the whole purpose was that Emma had to have a kid, so her kid would get her to SB and so on
But i think some figured out it could be BaelFIRE, when Emma said in season 1, he died in a fire rescuing a family, which to me also hinted that he actually did/will die like that exactly or will die in the future |
I was surprised by Red being the wolf and by Charming not really being Prince James (a bit of a shocker when James died at the beginning of 1.06). Then I started following closely on the internet and reading people's theories and filming reports. :sigh: i had figured out Graham was not long term because he was listed in the press release for 1.07 as a guest star.
