Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to join Emma Swan, Snow White, Prince Charming, The Evil Queen, Hook and all the other resident fairytale characters as they prepare to defend themselves against a magical force from the past that's too unpredictable even for Rumplestiltskin - Elsa, the Ice Queen from Arendelle.

Welcome to Storybrooke, Maine, a small town that probably won't show up on your GPS, but it's a magical place to visit. Reality and myth merged after Emma broke Regina's curse, which had deprived the fairy tale characters of their memories and trapped them in our modern world. When they finally regained their identities, our heroes were dismayed to discover that they weren't transported back to Fairy Tale Land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin - aka Mr. Gold - decided to escalate his power struggle with Regina by introducing magic into the town. But this is our world, and magic always has a tendency to yield unfathomable consequences.

You never give up on the people you love...

The Storybrooke residents do not know what Elsa has in store for them. Back in the past, in Elsa's kingdom of Arendelle, we will discover what happened to her, her sister Anna and Kristoff, and how and why Elsa became a prisoner of Rumplestiltskin. And now that Emma has brought back Robin Hood's wife, Marian, and possibly sparked the end of Regina's relationship with him, will she return to her old, evil ways and do everything in her power to get even? And newlyweds Belle and Rumplestiltskin continue to be deeply in love with each other. But Rumple is hiding a secret from Belle -- one that, if found out, could destroy their happiness - he continues to be the master of the dagger that calls upon him to be the Dark One. Can Emma and Hook commit to one another, and can these two damaged people take their love to the next level? Mary Margaret and David have a new baby, Prince Neal, and are looking forward to raising him into a proud, brave and loving adult. But they are still sad that they were not able to do this with Emma, instead helping her escape the curse when she was first born and not meeting her again until she was 28 years old. Henry is very happy to have both of his mothers back in Storybrooke. But with biological mom Emma and paternal grandfather Rumplestiltskin's blood running through his veins, he will be tested by both the light and the darkness. Finally, Will Scarlet (Michael Socha, "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland"), a former member of Robin Hood's band of Merry Men, has traveled across many lands to make his way to Storybrooke. He finds himself intertwined in the goings-on in town for the first time as his mysterious past pushes him to an unknown future.

As the season continues, new fairy tale characters will be revealed and old acquaintances will be revisited. But not everyone can be trusted.

I am loving it. People around here keep telling me the show gets better with each episode and I am entitled to agree.

I just got done watching episode 16 and I was absolutely floored by it.

Bouvier, just wanted to let you know that I finally saw it. The text and everything, that is pretty cool how that was put together - contrasting/comparing Belle and Henry with Rumple and Regina.

And Henry as a Snake Charmer?! Never know, his grandfather is 'Charming' after all. Nah, I'm kidding too.

Yeah, I think you just brought up an interesting point about how Charming reacted to Regina's discovery, and didn't question her on it. A very good thing, and perhaps it is a sign that even Charming is coming around to the idea that Regina is at least sincere where Henry is concerned.

Henry does make his share of mistakes - like any character on the show.

True, he is just a kid, but even kids are held accountable when they disobey or misbehave.

I just caught this on the thread, interesting speculation. If he transported to time in our world, at the precise time, chances are he would be dead. If the portal/vortex took him to a time 'in the future' of our world, a time that didn't match up with FTL time at that time, then it's possible he's aged differently here and is still around.

Of course, this is assuming that he came to our world at all. My own speculation had me thinking that he could turn out to be this show's version of 'Peter Pan' and that the portal/vortex took him to a version of 'Neverland' until he found a way to cross into our world. He would be the representation of a 'lost boy' without parents. I do wonder if that link will pop up seeing as Hook appears to have a connection in Rumple's story from the previews.

I speculated further, that if the show were to go in that direction, and Bae did turn out to be Henry's real father, perhaps Emma would turn out to be a version of 'Wendy.' Bae somehow met up with her in our world when they were kids, she was without parents, he was without parents, and they bonded over that. Could be cool to get some flashes of Emma younger, and taking trips she doesn't remember to Neverland.

The main problem I have with the Neverland theory is that Neverland has magic, and the portal was supposed to take them to a land without magic. Now, it's possible the Blue Fairy could have lied about that, but since her aim was to get rid of the Dark One permanently I don't think she did.

I also don't think that it's a coincidence that the curse brought them to Maine, at the time it did. Rumplestiltskin had 300 years to plan and develop the curse. He's too meticulous and precise to make a mistake like that.

agreed, Rumple thought out this plan, it probably planned it to the second...just didn't figure out the line though..

Episode 20 was amazing. It was so intense especially when Emma got angry at not wanting to be everyone's savior.

ETA-

Wow, can't believe I'm done. I completed all of season 1 within a week.

I don't even have words to describe how I feel about the show right now because it was just that good. A rarity for me which seems to be happening a lot in regards to this series.

I still can't tell you what my favorite episode is because all of them are so unique and amazing in their own way.

One thing is for sure I definately plan to get the season 1 dvds. Not bad for a new comer hu! I liked it that much that the dvds have become part of that must list.

Oh man and the music, totally had me floored!

It's sweet but with a mystical feel to it and it really helps to tell these stories because it does help you believe in the worlds we're in (ie FTL and SB) and it really brings it to life.

I think I finished it over two weeks, having spent one of those weeks just repeat watching Skin Deep.

ITA, the music is fabulous. Really, I love it. They even released it on CD, which I don't think is very common. I love the use of Leitmotifs for each character. And I thank god they actually did a proper symphonic score for the series!

So guess who picked up the season 1 dvds yesterday!

I know I got hooked on this show at the start of season 2 but for me to actually get the first season within such a short time period is amazing and a rare thing for me.
