Aladdin is a street thief from the streets of Agrabah. He is also known as the Diamond in the Rough, and when we first meet him in the season six premiere episode of Once Upon a Time, we find out that he is a previous Savior and that he also experiences a type of savior PTSD (which Emma also experiences).

Through flashbacks, we learn about the first time he met Jasmine and discovered his savior powers. She enlisted him to find the Diamond in the Rough but actually knew all along that he was the weapon that could save Agrabah from Jafar. He and Jasmine also fell in love after their little journey together but nothing ever came of that relationship because Jasmine felt a sense of duty first to the kingdom, feeling that she didn't deserve love until she could finally defeat Jafar.

Also, Aladdin came to Storybrooke with the first curse cast by Regina but he hid. He severed his ties as the Savior using the Shears of Fate, and there was no need for another savior since Emma was already fulfilling that role.

He became the Genie going into the season six winter finale to help Jasmine find Agrabah. However, the Evil Queen trapped him and he became her slave. Charming rescued him and then his lamp was returned to Jasmine and she used her second wish to find Agrabah.

Both Aladdin and Jasmine were absent from the story for five episodes after the winter finale until the story picked up with them in the Enchanted Forest. Aladdin was still very much in love with Jasmine but she refused to address their relationship on many occasions.

Then Jasmine was finally able to stand up to Jafar, defeat him and get her happy ending. Aladdin was also freed from being the Genie and Agrabah was restored.

Aladdin is portrayed by Deniz Akdeniz.

Jasmine is the Princess of Agrabah. She sought out Aladdin because she believed that he could help her defeat Jafar and save Agrabah. She also knew more than she was letting on because it was not a surprise to her when Aladdin's savior powers manifested themselves for the first time in the Cave of Wonders. It is still unclear how she knew that he was a Savior.

She fell in love with Aladdin after their adventure but nothing ever came of their relationship back in Agrabah. Jasmine, however, started to feel very guilty about thrusting Aladdin into the Savior life after he disappeared. She came to Storybrooke from the Land of Untold Stories and hid her identity because she felt shame for failing to save her people.

Her father taught her that duty must come before love, and Jasmine felt after she couldn't defeat Jafar on her own that she was unworthy of love. She did love Aladdin and ultimately, in the end, Jasmine did defeat Jafar, save Aladdin and free her kingdom from his curse.

I'll start off the discussion here.

I liked Karen and Deniz as our Jasmine and Aladdin, but I think the most frustrating part of their story was how it was written; particularly Karen David's Jasmine.

I got the vibe that she cared about him when the truth about who she was finally came out, but it was really difficult at times to figure out how she felt about Aladdin. Did she love him? Like him only as a friend? What was going on?

I think even Aladdin felt as frustrated as I was, at times, because the relationship was never addressed. And then we got 6x15 and found out the reason Jasmine had been avoiding talking about the relationship: Kingdom before self and okay, that makes sense since she was obsessed with finding Agrabah.

I feel like there should have been a more balanced focus on what was going in the relationship. I liked Karen as Jasmine. That was perfect casting but the writing could have been better. Adam and Eddy always do this thing where they introduce beloved characters, and then their story gets dropped or sidelined. I'm not upset that they shared true love's kiss but there should have been a better build-up towards it, I think.

Loved Deniz as Aladdin.
