And the streak of great episodes just ended. The Snow/Emma, Emma/Henry and Henry/Jasmine scenes were great. And Jafar is fantastic. But the rest of the episode has been a snoozefest.

I really liked this epi! Jafar/Jasmine/Aladdin even the Sultan very well cast, costumes were top notch and the CGI was cool and fun.
Very moving scene between Henry and Emma where she told him lets enjoy every moment we have together while we have it and so sweet that Aladdin overheard and couldn't help giving her the scissors (I think there is still savior in him yet!). So Hook has a secret now too, well get in line, that seems to be the theme this season LOL |

I enjoyed this episode. Definitely enjoyed it more than most of the episodes so far.
I loved the direction, how the reaction of to Emma's secret was not seen but heard by the EQ. How Hook's reaction was conveyed through body-language and glances. I enjoyed the flashbacks, and liked Aladdin, despite the fact I hadn't been looking forward to him particularly, the references to the movie were good. I did feel that there were too many flashbacks, everytime another came up I felt torn away from the main action. I was initially shocked at how Hook is prepared to sacrifice their relationship for Emma's life. But on reflection I get it: Emma's reaction to intense fear is to retreat behind her walls, his reaction to intense fear is to give in to his demons. I also think that Regina is making a mistake in ignoring her sister, and letting the EQ influence her. I just hope this series lightens up a bit bit soon. I'm not enjoying the seeing the cracks in this family widening due to the EQ. The overall feeling of darkness is too relentless. |

I do like the Aladdin story but i'm not really taken with this episode. There were some great moments but It felt a bit flat for me.

I enjoyed this episode a lot! I was excited for the Aladdin story and on the whole, was not disappointed. Though I wasn't keen on Aladdin himself to begin with. Aladdin may have been a thief, a street rat so to speak, but he definitely wasn't selfish. In the Disney film, I always admired how even though he went to so much trouble during the song One Jump Ahead to steal some bread for himself, he still had the kind heart to give it to a couple of young poor kids who were obviously starving. But then this is OUAT, and if the twist is making Aladdin a little selfish, then so be it. I loved Jasmine though! I loved all the nods to the Disney classic; the costumes (as always are stunning), the sets, the cave of wonders, the diamond in the rough being Aladdin, Jafar sending Jasmine inside an hourglass, Aladdin saving the day on a magic carpet, Jafar being the royal visor to the Sultan, the model castle the Sultan was making....I could go on. But one major thing was desperately missing. What about the Genie in the Lamp?! Isn't that what Jafar is supposed to be after?!
Anyways, I like how Emma and team helped Jasmine find Aladdin. Interesting that he's another saviour and Emma's optimism that Aladdin's alive meant that her vision may not come true was nice to see. The Evil Queen impersonating Archie is nothing new. Poor guy having to spend the rest of the episode tied up looking after baby Robin. I think the EQ actually ended up doing Emma a favour by getting her to own up to her visions to her family. They can now help Emma through it. When Jasmine believed Aladdin was dead after seeing the scarab in the crypt, I loved how consoling Regina was. The scene with Emma and Henry made me tear up. Such a beautiful moment between the two. I'm glad Aladdin turned out to be alive in Storybrooke. Though he ended up using those fate shears that Jafar gave him in order to save himself but dooming Agrabah. I love that even though he gave the fate shears to Emma, she promised not to use them and gave them to Killian, who said he had buried them '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' but lied and actually kept them. Oh gosh, I hope this doesn't damage their relationship too much. But I can't blame him for ultimately keeping them. He won't let his true love Emma die, at any cost. The Evil Queen taking Zelena to a beauty salon to get a manicure. Now there was something new. Just that image alone had me cracking up. Regina is definitely making a mistake by ignoring her sister and letting the EQ influence her. That's all I have right now on the episode. __________________
