He was born in 1947 into a newly independent India. I believe that somehow the spirit of this free Mother India was woven into the fabric of his being. He bravely led with his heart and was the first person in his family to defy strict tradition and have a “love marriage” versus an “arranged marriage.” He refused to let anyone tell him how to live his life, eschewing the dictates of fear.

So when his first-born was a daughter, he decided to break the cycle of patriarchy that denied so many Indian women the ability to have any choice in their own future. Since the day I was born, my dad encouraged me to find my own strength, follow my own heart, and live my own life.

My father wasn’t naive to the gender inequalities I would continuously face as I grew up, so one factor in my life became non-negotiable: my education. He knew a solid education was liberating, inalienable and enduring. It was the key to maximizing my full potential and protecting independence.

It was the one gift I could be given that could not be taken from me.

Because of my father’s courage, vision, and pioneering feminist spirit, I now have two university degrees. I’m building a career and life for myself on my own terms. And perhaps most importantly, I’m able to be in relationships where love and respect are the only reasons to stay.

My father, Naren Simone, paved the way for me, and for that I am thankful. x

Season Five the year of Cece. I'm declaring it now!

I am most defiantly a fan of Schmece. I have been since she spent the night and they held hands. They are my oldest ship on the show.

I'm so glad that we already know that season five is going to happen.

They are there since the pilot and the second episode but for me too it started with the episode Cece spent the night at the loft

It was the very beginning

I would have said episode one and I may modify my opinion upon our rewatch. But thy didn't have enough interaction in the pilot for me to go there. It actually looked at one point like they could have gone Schmidt Jess. I saw both that and Nick and Jess in the pilot based on my memory.

Yeah it seemed so like that, right? I mean it was blurry with Nick&Jess and Schmidt&Jess imo but later on it really became Nick&Jess and Schmidt&Cece.

But I love Cece so much since the pilot, the moment she entered and protected Jess

Confused, you know about which way they were going to go after the pilot. NJ or SJ. After like two or three episodes it became obvious. And I couldn't be happier.

Oh I think it was always NJ and SC for the writers. Max and Hannah had those lovely photoshoots before the pilot even

I love Schmece since the pilot but yeah for us it became obvious later on imo too. I loveeeeee SJ together too but as friends

I don't doubt it. I was just saying for me, it could have gone either way after the pilot. I also didn't see any promo pics before the pilot. I also watched the pilot early so I had many chances to rewatch before episode two. That could also be why when Coach left after only one episode it stung a bit. Like I said, just something I noticed. I do like Jess' friendship with Schmidt. I like her friendship with all the guys.

I learnt about the promo pics as recently as this year too! Even without knowing I loved them since the beginning

Jess is multishippable for me but I do like her friendship with guys more haha But definitely Schmidt and Cece belong together for me
