You're welcome

It is about 3 hours by car. To Stockholm it is 3½ hours instead. But I don't like it to be in Malmö because there are not so much to see there. I wanted it to be in Stockholm or Gothenburg because those are the most beautiful cities in Sweden :)

I will be home watching it because neither me or my mom wanted to go to Malmö

That is great you will watch it :yay: Our countries are direct qualified to the finals already :high_five:

 I didnt even know what the Eurovision Song Contest was....it's not very popular here...how do they determine the winner of the contest? plus the singers have to sing in Enghish or they can sing in their mother tongue

Oh I love watching the Eurovision Song Contest. It has been pretty big here ever since we won it in the 80s with "Ein bisschen Frieden" and of course a few years ago with Lena's "Satellite" Our contestant this year is facing some problems though. Seriously, her song sounds just like Lorene's "Euphoria"
Catia, they have adjusted the voting system. Part of the points that go to the contestants is given out by a European jury, and part of the points is given out by people who call for their favorite contestant once everyone has finished singing. You can't vote for your own country though. Now, everyone is allowed to sing in English or their mother tongue, just as they please. Earlier everyone had to sing in their mother tongue

Thanks for the new thread

I got sick yesterday. I am running a fever, my bones are aching, my throat is aching and I have a cough  And that after two weeks into the new job :( I really didn't like calling in sick today, but I couldn't possibly have gone to work feeling like this
The nicest thing happened though. One of the attorneys I am working for called me at home to tell me to get well soon and that he and my boss would be really mad at me if I decided to come back into work before feeling 100% healthy again ;)

It is probably because Italy has only been in ESC for 2-3 years now :)

Thanks for explaining how the voting goes, Steffi  Also I hope you feel better soon!

lazygirl 02-18-2013 09:04 AM

thanks for explaining me the rules Steffi
it was really nice of your new boss to call you :) Get some rest!!!!

raeofsun 02-18-2013 08:04 PM

Feel better Steffi!!! I'm glad your bosses are understanding :)

Sounds like an interesting contest...

I cannot wait until after next Wednesday- work slows down for a couple weeks. I'm not sure I breathed more than 10 times today... :P

Thanks for the new thread, Jess:hug:

Steffi - I hope you're feeling better today, hun:hug:

The Eurovisin Song Contest is a really fun contest, I try to watch it every year:nod: I was so surprised when we one in 2010 - that was so unexpected and cool :D Usually we don't get many points ;)
But I don't really like our contestant this year, like Steffi said it's so similar to Lorene's "Euphoria"

Rae - I'm sorry you've still been so busy:( I hope it slows down for you next week:nod: So that you can breath at least 20 times :P;)

Happy Tuesday:group_hug:

Cosmic Love 02-19-2013 03:39 AM

You're welcome, everyone  I just LOVE watching the Eurovision Song Contest - I watch it every year
It was definitely a surprise when we won in 2010 - "like a satellite" *sing*
Anni, Cascada's song is even checked now by an international jury to see if the song was stolen from Lorene or not and if Cascada will be allowed to enter the Contest this year. Should be interesting to see.

So I went to see the doctor today and he gave me a sick note for the rest of the week. Apparently I have a bronchitis combined with laryngitis, hence the throat ache. I got three different kinds of medication here now - that should help

Rae, I really hope things will go a little easier on you soon

Happy HoD day everyone!

lazygirl 02-19-2013 04:29 AM

Now I cant wait to see the eurovision song contest and talk about it with you guys :D
Honestly I dont like the fact that singers are allowed to sing in English..they should sing in their mother tongue! The thing that makes Europe great is the language diversity!
who is your contestant Anni?

Steffi I thought you were one of those lucky people who never get sick!!! just kidding  take your medications, drink a lot of water and and get some sleep

Rae you probably need an oxigen tank but all I can give you is a hug

Happy HoD day everyone!

raeofsun 02-19-2013 08:04 AM

:) It's ok, I don't mind being busy. It makes the day go quicker. :) We have a big field trip that I'm organizing coming up and a HUGE school wide project/competition that we're about to start- when they start building it next Thursday I'll have more time for myself. :) But until then, I'm trying to cram in these last 2 chapters- and I've been out so much with my kids sick I'm behind- so we're sprinting through material right now.

Steffi, I'm glad you have medicine. That should help. :)

I've never seen the show Catia- but I agree- if it's about your home country, sing in your language. (Hey! We agreed on something ;))

And it's HoD day!!! :yay: (I won't get to watch it live- I've got a student I'm tutoring at night :() But I'll watch it before I go to bed! (I hope...)
