When the town of Newport was first founded no one could imagine the evil underground. This particular spot in Orange County was built over what paranormal scholars call the hellmouth. Those living above ground, though, are lucky. The next vampire slayer, the girl who will keep evil at bay, is right in their own hometown.

Name: Summer Roberts
Role: Summer�s the girl that keeps the boogymen at bay. Just recently she was called to be the slayer. The news was hard to believe at first, but after a girl was turned into a vampire before her eyes she came to accept it. This is her lot in life and she�s going to make the best out of it.

Name: Sandy Cohen
Role: Sandy, despite his age, is a seasoned watcher. He�s there to keep an eye on and train whatever slayer that crosses his path. Right now that means he will be spending a lot of time watching Summer slay vampires.

Role: It was fate that Kirsten marry Sandy. She�s an expert when it comes to magic and pretty handy when it comes to computers. During the school year she works as a computer teacher but now that it�s summer she�ll be helping Sandy with his watcher activities.

Role: It was especially painful for Sandy to see his son Seth become a vampire. After a year of watching him from afar, Seth�s parents decided to try something drastic. They gave him his soul back in hopes of having a son again but Seth became a little more serious, his humor a little dryer, because of guilt from all of the evil he had done.

Role: When he found himself without a home, Ryan was welcomed into the Cohen household with open arms. They needed a son just as badly as he needed a real, loving family. He�s not very close to Summer but since he�s spending most of his free-time slaying vampires with her a friendship is starting to form.

Role: Under normal circumstances a person like Summer wouldn�t look twice at Marissa. She�s what most people would call a geek. Because of her witnessing Summer in action, though, Marissa has become part of her slaying posse.

Role: Anna was friends with Summer, once, but now all of that has changed. Seeing her friend standing there with wide eyes, not making a move to save her drove her insane. The scene plays over in her head sometimes and it only makes her want to kill the slayer even more.

Role: Like Anna, Oliver is thirsty for blood in more than the obvious ways. He�s spent over three hundred years making a sport of killing. Oliver is violent by nature and he�s been becoming more and more violent over the years. Even though he should be satisfied by killing two slayers, the most important thing on his mind right now is killing Summer Roberts.

Role: Luke, also a vampire, was Marissa�s one and only boyfriend before he turned. Having close ties with her, Luke likes to believe that he has an �in� with the slayer. More than anything, he hopes to use whatever advantage he has to kill the slayer.
