New York University: A Role Playing Game for Original (and New!) characters

| New York University |
Another turning point a fork stuck in the road
time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
its not a question but a lesson learned in time

“A tradition of excellence. A legacy of innovation.” New York University is by far one of the most distinguished and notable institutions of higher learning in the United States. Centered right in the heart of New York City, Greenwich Village, studying at New York University does not just pit you in the hands of the school, but of the entire city itself.

Students of New York University don’t just prepare for life during their four year stay, they embark on a new life the second they step foot on the expansive campus. Vibrant and lively, NYU is constantly changing, constantly evolving, and naturally it encourages its students to do the same. Consisting of a total of fourteen colleges and Universities, NYU offers something for everyone and it’s wide variety of educational majors draws in people from all over the world.

While our story centers around the students involved vigorously in their studies at NYU, it’s main focus is their lives, and how both the school and the city weave their ways in and out of their lives. When you live in the city that never sleeps and you study at one of the finest and most reputable of institutions in the world, life never stands still, and more importantly, the people never stand still.

This story is about the relationships and the connections formed during college. It’s about the keg parties and the sororities. It’s about the classes and the professors. It’s about friends, and lovers, and adversaries. It’s about the ups and the downs, the heartaches, the challenges, and the changes. It’s about the good and the bad, the right and the wrong, the mistakes and the opportune chances sometimes taken and sometimes not.

Most importantly, it’s about life, and the choices that come with it.

Its something unpredictable
but in the end is right
I hope you have the time of your life

FACULTY & STAFF

Name: Spencer Cassadine
Age: Thirty-Five
Previous RPG: General Hospital: The Next Generation
Year: Professor | History of American Law
Major: N/A
Theme Song: Angels or Demons by Dishwalla
Personality: Complicated. Proud. Manipulative. Determined. Intellectual.
Three Fast Facts:
- Being a Cassadine meant a life of luxury for Spencer. He was born into old money and never wanted for anything. The only void in his life was the absence of his mother who died shortly after childbirth. Fortunately, Spencer's childhood was filled with enough candy and toys to heal his young mind from the terrible loss rather quickly. By the time Spencer's father Nikolas remarried, Spencer was a teenager and uninterested in his stepmom Emily's attempts to win his love. She tried too hard and it just made him like her even less. How his father could replace Spencer's mom, a tough and sassy blond (or so he'd heard from his mom's best friend and his pseudo aunt Carly) with someone as weak and soft-spoken as Emily was unfathomable.
- Spencer lashing out at his stepmother caused his relationship with his father to fracture severely, and that's when his notorious great grandmother Helena Cassadine entered the picture. After being MIA for years, she visited Spencer during his junior year of high school and filled his mind with visions of unimaginable power. She would get rid of her worthless grandson, she said, and Spencer was too naive to know what she actually meant. He just told her he wanted his father off his back and the next week, Nikolas and Emily were targeted at one of his father's extravagant balls. Emily was murdered in cold blood and Nikolas nearly lost his life, but doctors managed to revive him. Nikolas was paralyzed though, and upon finding out about Emily's death, depressed beyond the point of help. Nikolas blamed the incident on an infamous mobster by the name of Anthony Zacarra, but deep down Spencer suspected Helena was behind it. His fears were further confirmed when a second attempt made on Nikolas' life a year later left him brain dead. Life support was eventually turned off, making Spencer the sole heir of the Cassadine fortune.
- After his father's 'accident' Spencer was desperate to get away from Port Charles, N.Y. He ran from his great grandmother and the guilt that plagued him only to end up at Berkley college in California. Spencer spent most of his undergrad getting drunk and sleeping around. He wanted to feel anything and everything other than the pain he harbored deep inside. Spencer somehow managed to graduate with a degree in business and finally toned down his boozing and whoring long enough to attend law school. He excelled at the vocation and successfuly practiced criminal law for seven years before accepting a professorship at NYU. Returning to New York was an unnerving but necessary step in moving on with his life. Spencer is facing down the demons of his past, or so he hopes. Time will tell. Although Spencer hasn't heard from his great grandmother Helena since the day his father died he has always assumed she's not finished with him yet. There had to be a reason she wanted Spencer to inherit his family's millions and she'll come to collect one day after the "assistance" she gave him. Spencer lives in constant anxiety over it. It's why he struggled so long to make a name for himself professionally and has never, will never, settle down personally. This way, if his grandmother finds him she'll be hard pressed to pull his strings or blackmail him since he has nothing to lose.

Name: Amanda Gates
Age: Thirty-Six
Previous RPG: N/A (original character)
Year: Fourth year professor
Teaches: English Lit
Personality: Determined, Garrulous, Meticulous, Sympathetic, & Discreet
Five Fast Facts:
- Amanda's father died when she was sixteen, an event that dramatically shaped her future. Her desperation for male comfort caused her to unwisely cling to the first boy who showed her interest. On a surface level he appeared to be the perfect gentleman, a white knight able to save her from her grief. Despite her mothers objections Amanda married at age eighteen and left town without giving her decision a second thought.
- Amanda began to battle guilt six months into her marriage. She had not only left her mother, but her little sister Mallorie. Amanda worried for her well being and realized how selfish she had been. When she expressed her concerns to her husband and suggested moving close to her loved ones, he immediately rejected the idea. Something in his tone of voice caused Amanda to drop the subject indefinitely. Three years passed before Amanda's perfect wife routine shattered. Exhausted from walking on eggshells around her moody husband, she gave him an ultimatum: counseling or divorce. Her husband gave her a black eye in response.
- Amanda stayed in her abusive marriage for thirteen years. Not having gone to college, she had no way to support herself and felt trapped. In a way, she believed she deserved the poor treatment she received. This twisted mindset lasted until a neighbor witnessed her husband backhanding her in their garage one evening. The neighbor, as it turned out, had been in an abusive relationship in her twenties before finding the strength to break free. She told Amanda about community college classes and a self defense course in town. Amanda earned her teaching degree and black belt in two years. She taught night classes and saved money for a full year before serving her husband with divorce papers and a restraining order. She moved to New York City to teach full-time shortly after.
- It has been four years since Amanda left her husband and took charge of her own life. To her relief, he has not tried to contact her. The fear of him returning still looms in the back of her mind but she refuses to dwell on it. Amanda refuses to acknowledge that part of her life at all. Denial is a powerful, albeit unhealthy, coping mechanism. No one in her new life knows about her past and she prefers to keep it that way.
- Amanda's world was shaken a few months ago when her younger sister called after two years off the grid. Mallorie asked for money, but Amanda offered her a place to stay instead. It is her sincere hope to use this opportunity as a way to finally get to know her sister and make up for lost time.

Name: Lucas Hughes
Age: Twenty-Seven
Previous RPG: Players 10: Las Vegas
Year: Grad Student; 3rd Year
Major: B.A. in Comparative Literature; currently working on a Master’s degree in Classical Civilization and Hellenic Studies
Personality: Acerbic, Cynical, Observant, Reticent and Resolute.
Theme Song: "Good To Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have to Do Is Die" by Brand New
Five Fast Facts:
- Lucas’s parents, happily married twenty-eight years now, had a fairytale romance that inspired a hopeless romanticism in their eldest son early on. His fairytale bubble was callously destroyed by a philandering trollop named Delaney Jennings. Nine years later and Lucas is still not over his two timing high school sweetheart, his perception of the opposite sex forever and irreversibly colored with skepticism and mistrust.
- Apparently not having learned from the first time, Lucas found himself the source of curiosity and entertainment from another heartless wench evil sorceress. The last thing Lucas ever expected was to meet his intellectual match in the form of Noelle Stratford, whose unwavering persistence proved to be more formidable than his deliberately off-putting disposition. She managed to slowly whittle away at him until he was all but completely enamored with her and for a time they were actually happy. So of course it makes sense that she would go on to crush his pathetic little heart beneath her stilettoed heal.
- From his mother, a successful book publisher, he inherited a love for literature and from his father, a now retired colligate scout, an unbridled love for college football. Consequently his bookshelves are chalk full of a seemingly contradictory assortment of old hard cover books and USC memorabilia. Lucas is not one to be pigeonholed, and deliberately so. Such is the way of the pretentious pseudo-intellectual hipster.
- Earned his B.A. in Comparative Literature at the University of Southern California and would have continued on with their graduate program if not for yet another messy and tragic heartbreak. This time it was not enough for him to move several states away; he had to move clear across the country. Never has it once occurred to Lucas that the problem may in fact fall with him. That would require far more self-reflection than he’s willing to engage in.
- His ideal night involves a quiet night in with a home cooked gourmet meal, a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, a good book and only The Smith’s The Queen is Dead album and his dog, Jean-Paul (Sarte), for company. On one of the rare instances when he forces himself to socialize, it usually involves a small group of friends as equally pretentious and obnoxious as he is debating various life philosophies, current events and films over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine at a trendy wine bar. Because, well … reasons.

Name: Dalton Reeves
Age: 45
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: Professor & Associate Dean of Film, Television & New Media
Theme Song: Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Personality: Steadfast, Hard-Working, Entrepreneurial, Stubborn, Giving
Five Fast Facts:
• Born in Philadelphia to ne’er-do-well, upscale suburbanites Dalton initially wanted for nothing, besides the praise of father and mother who didn’t seem the least bit interested in him. This was until fumbling toward ecstasy at the age of sixteen with another boy in a broom closet on the property of his then high school. Liberal though such an area tended to be the act shamed his father. The man raised a hand to young Dalton in an attempt to ‘beat the gay out of him’ and Dalton beat a trail out of Philly as quickly as possible. Since then he has never concealed his sexuality and will speak about it to whomever.
• The young man went west, gradually coming to Los Angeles. A film lover from an early age Dalton offered both enthusiasm and no small amount of charm as a set P.A. He learned a great deal about the industry and worked tirelessly. He found a home in fictional worlds that were more clearly realized than any love he’d ever before felt or had sought to feel. We he came of age his gradually transitioned into casting and later management under the tutelage of a producer who’d met him by chance.
• His favorite movies had always been war films, particularly those set in simpler times, drawn to the romanticism of heroes saving the day and coming out golden, on the side of angels. Such naiveté propelled a twenty-two year old Dalton to enlist in the army just in time for the Gulf War. The realization of the true nature of war made him sober up rather quickly. Though he’s loathe to talk about his experience (and the event that led to his awarding of the distinguished service cross) he did pen a fictionalized account of his experience which was later turned into an Oscar winning film but a notable director.
Dalton continued to write movies, eventually directing a pair which brought him even more attention. Soon the recipient of two Golden Globes (and six other nominations) and two Oscar nominations, Dalton grew bored. He went back to school to earn his degrees and eventually turned to becoming a teacher. He still is very active within the Hollywood circle which does lead him away from New York on occasion, thus why he shares the Dean position with someone a little less mercurial with their time.

Name: Noelle Stratford
Age: Twenty-Five
Previous RPG: Players 10: Las Vegas
Year: First | Teaching Assistant, Contemporary Art | Institute of Fine Arts
Major: B.A./M.A. in Modern Culture and Media (Brown University)
Theme Song: Drifting In And Out by Porcelain Raft
Personality: Imaginative. Polished. Delicate. Mosaic. Ardent.
Five Fast Facts:
[-] The only daughter of an advertising tycoon and a jaded boozing former debutante, Noelle Daveigh Stratford was brought up in a world not of her choosing but almost always used, whether directly or indirectly, for her benefit. Everett and Carrigan's mutual lack of discernment when it came to what a parent does and doesn't allow their child to do most likely stemmed from the same conveniently lazy attitude exercised by their parents, and their parents before them, and so the vicious cycle continued. For the better part of her life, Noelle lived in NYC, attending school by day, meaningless parties and gatherings for her parents' easily acquired amusement by night. A business decision caused the move to Las Vegas, where Noelle attended Chaparral High School for her Junior & Senior years and graduated with honors.
[-] One of the many ways Noelle kept herself entertained amongst all the droll adolescent boredom was through picking her teeth with eager high school boys. It was only when she finally met her match in one of her targets that she called "the one with stones" (since he was the only one to refuse her) did she actually change her tune and become truly interested in someone for the first time in her life. He had been the toughest of nuts to crack but eventually she won him over with persistence and dimples and being completely in love with him, and the pair stayed incredibly serious for all of Senior year.
[-] While her relationship with "the one" helped her turn over a new moral leaf, Noelle's familial struggles took a turn for the worse. She had a catastrophic clash of wills with her parents over her professional future, being told on no uncertain terms where she was going to college (Harvard) and what she would be studying (Law). Her parents also had some uniquely bastardious opinions on who she should be involved with romantically and how that factored into them continuing to provide her with financial support. Under insanely unfair amounts of pressure, she ended up lying to "the one" and said she cheated on him more than once during their relationship so he would dump her and stay away from her. Of course the crippling depression that followed gave her the opportunity to find her strength and finally flip her parents the bird, accepting a full academic ride to Brown University studying Modern Culture and Media. Unfortunately, she found herself too scared to go back to "the one" and explain everything that happened with her parents, even after she cut them out of her life. The loss of him shakes her to her core to this day.
[-] Somehow able to retain her focus on school, she received her B.A./M.A. in MCM from Brown as part of their integrated 5-year program. The degree and a need for another change in scenery sparked Noelle's next move to work at the Art Institute of Chicago as a contemporary artist and sculptor there for the next two years. Meeting and starting a serious relationship with her current boyfriend was nowhere in the plans, but she knew she had to come out of sack cloth and mourning at some point and try to regain some emotional currency in her life.
[-] Noelle felt the familiar draw of New York City soon after and she applied for a teaching assistant position at the NYU Institute of Fine Arts in the Contemporary Art department. Upon receiving and accepting the job, her stock broker boyfriend immediately jumped at the opportunity to move to NYC with her and be so close to Wall Street, the two of them currently sharing a loft-like space in the Village together. While having a new job on the horizon seems thrilling, she has no idea whether settling down with her current is actually something she's capable of, "the one" still on his pedestal where he's always been, even years later.

Name: (Dr.) Tyler Falco
Age: Forty-three
Previous RPG: N/A - Original
Year: Professor | Applied Psychology
Theme Song: “Sunshine Superman” - Donovan
Personality: Unflappable, self-assured, analytical, pro-active, patronizing.
Five Fast Facts:
- Tried and true, born and raised Brooklynite, Tyler was the kid of two aging hippies of the Woodstock age who never quite got the memo that adulthood meant responsibility and having children involved more work than simply feeding them, clothing them, and keeping their fingers away from electrical sockets. He grew up in a household of expansive permissibility, though fortunately managed to dodge several bullets in the forms of illicit drugs, juvenile delinquency, and STDS by being the oldest of four and thus feeling personally responsible for the rearing of his three younger sisters. But he wasn’t perfect, by any means. Sexual experimentation was not only permitted in the Falco household but actively encouraged and Tyler started young with the girls in his neighborhood before veering slightly off the path of normalcy to the more ‘experimental’ scene—dabbling in dominance and submission, bondage, and his personal favorite—roleplaying. During one particular sojourn he made the acquaintance of a young girl with a violent rape fantasy and, far too young and inexperienced himself to talk this out with her properly, establishing limits, safewords, etc… he happily indulged her. Her desperate pleas to stop went ignored, presumed part of the fantasy, and Tyler left the encounter satisfied but opened his door the next morning to greet a bevy of policemen and an arrest warrant for rape. Fortunately for him, the charges were dropped one week later, when the girl was found dead of apparent suicide. Though he narrowly escaped prison his neighbors were far from kind, treating him as if he were some disgusting sexual predator and Tyler barely managed to graduate high school with the weight of his arrest looming over his head. Not two days after his graduation, he enlisted in the army to escape Brooklyn and his battered reputation.
- Desert Storm was just pure bad luck. Tyler barely got through basic training with his head above water before being thrust into combat and it may very well have killed him were it not for Dalton Reeves, his personal guardian angel. The two of them got through their tour together, forming a bond of camaraderie in the fox holes that unfortunately wouldn’t last upon returning stateside. Dalton went one way and Tyler went the other, homesick for the grime and stink of NYC enough to risk returning to the place he’d endured countless hardships and nearly dying a dozen times to escape from. Wisely, he chose to settle in Manhattan, far enough away from his old stomping grounds that no one batted an eye at his face nor his name and proceeded to enroll in a local community college. Psychology would be his field of choice and he’d pursue it, eagerly, through four years at BMCC for his undergrad all the way up through his masters and doctorate at NYU. Though he’d accomplished enough by then to reinflate his boyhood ego he never quite forgot about the events that’d led up to his enlisting and that guided his educational and research focus toward the development and evolution of human sexuality.
- Years later, and Tyler is finally in a place where he’s happy with who he is and what he does. Now employed by NYU and well on his way towards tenure and even a cushy spot as a department head down the line (practically promised by the dean when the current head retires) not only is his professional life in its prime but his personal life is a thing most men only dream of. Currently in an open marriage with a beautiful 25-year-old grad student—who just so happened to be one of his students before she promptly switched majors to get that ass—Tyler not only gets to come home to a foxy younger woman who’s always DTF but sometimes there’s two, or three, or a mix of sexes waiting for him in his bedroom… at her behest. They married for the comfort of emotional support but neither has qualms with one another engaging in extramarital relationships, so long as both parties are upfront about it. And, whenever possible, share.
- Inexplicably, Tyler has garnered a reputation for being a bit of a lothario amongst the student body (only partially rooted in truth). His open and engaging (occasionally flirtatious) nature has encouraged no small number of his students to flounce into his office with various genitalia on display, beseeching him for an easy A and in exchange they’d ‘do whatever he wanted.’ He keeps a trunk of ‘research props’ handy for just such an occasion, horrifying each and every one of them with enormous sex toys or puppy collars or elaborate bondage trussing and to date, not a single one of them has made a repeat trip—choosing instead to complete their essays and readings on Freud and Pavlov and operant vs classical conditioning like good little undergrads. Should some student actually take him up on ‘The Great American Challenge,’ he might actually choke on his own spit.
- For all his many, many character flaws Tyler has a certain weakness for the pathetic and vulnerable. Mostly his wife exists to shut the door in his face when he comes home with yet another stray dog, abandoned box of kittens, and once—memorably—some drugged out kid so skinny you could count his rib bones. He’s still paying for that kid’s rehab—now on attempt #5—but fortunately his wife never expected to live a life of any particular luxury.

GRADUATE STUDENTS

Name: Genesis Cooper
Age: Twenty-One
Previous RPG: LDC
Year: Grad. Student 2nd year
Major: Computer Science
Personality: Quirky. Protective. Genius. Adaptable. Idealist.
Three/Five Relevant Life Facts:
- MENSA Level IQ, when she puts her mind to a hobby or skill she goes at it until she masters it and almost always excels at what she starts.
-She started building and advancedly using computers when she was a teenager, when most kids would have been in high school, but Genesis was beginning NYU.
- She doesn't have many close friends and her family, who she doesn't easily relate to, are all back in the deep south. Genesis is by no means a social butterfly, even being a bit awkward sometimes in conversations, by not noticing when her oddness is making someone else uncomfortable. But she would like to leave school with at least a few friends. It seems like everytime she connects to someone they get homesick and leave or in the case of when she first arrived at NYU, most of the people who 'adopted' the teenage Genesis were upperclassmen who graduated and left.
- Genesis has done some hacking, mostly harmless stuff but she has been recently approached by a organization that wants to 'mold' and 'use' her in the hackivist community. The words mold and use bother her alot. But the idealist in her kind of likes the idea of being able to make a difference from a computer.

Name: Kristina Corinthos-Davis.
Age: 29.
Previous RPG: General Hospital: The Next Generation.
Year: Fourth Year Grad.
Major: Law.
Personality: Rational, stubborn, loyal, outspoken, caring.
Three Relevant Life Facts: - Kristina's parents are a lawyer and a mob boss, which gave the girl a very interesting life. She didn't know her father or brothers for the first few years of her life because her mother kept her away from them for her safety. The truth came out when Kristina got sick and she has been attached to her father's side of the family ever since. Being a mob princess wasn't easy because Kristina had been kidnapped many timed throughout her child hood but what really effected her was when she saw her older sister, who was with her father's hit man, shoot a man. She went mute for a few months and to this day still has nightmares about it.
- When Kristina grew up into a teenager, she was a mix of everyone that raised her and she often gave her mother a run for her money. Because her father put more attention on her brothers than her, she often acted out to get him to notice her. Her mother would try to keep her close in hopes that she would stop but it only made Kristina rebel even more. Her bratty phrase ended when she found herself in an abusive relationship. She was no longer acting out but crying for help. After Kiefer was taken care of ( run over by her mother no less ), Kristina's behavior calmed down quite considerably.
- Kristina spent her junior and senior year concentrating on school and her new boyfriend Cameran. The two grew up together but never really connected in a deeper way until he was there for her when he needed her. Only then did she realize that he was perfect for her. Though it displeased her mother, she differed college for a few years and got married to Cameran right after high school. It was wedded bliss for the young couple for the first two years then it all came crashing down when Cameran decided he wanted to get involved with the mob. That wouldn't have been a problem for Kristina had Cameran not decided to join her father's rival family. That was enough for her. She filed for divorce and headed off to NYU to do what she always wanted to; become a lawyer.

Name: Lily Falco
Age: Twenty-Five
Previous RPG: N/A - Original
Year: Third year Grad. Student
Major: Sociology
Personality: Adventurous. Bright. Down-to-earth. Caring. Sexual.
Three/Five Relevant Life Facts:
- Lily was born in a farmtown in Tennessee. Her family had crops of cotton, and she dealt with milking cows as her major duty for most of her life. It was a small town and there wasn't much to do so sex generally happened early in the town of Millbranch. Lily was no exception to this rule and was generally one of the more adventurous sexually speaking. The guys were all interested in her but half of them chickened out and just said they had slept with. Once she was eighteen and graduated she had already been accepted into NYU - she took a bus in the middle of the night and had the rest of her things shipped. Her parents always thought she would come back home after four years - but she knew that would never happen. She met and got into a relationship with her former teacher, Tyler Falco who she eventually married. She needed someone solid to count on in New York, and that was definitely him. She also needed a way her parents couldn't force her home. And a marriage did that. Lily and Tyler are open both with their secrets and their marriage.
- Lily has a mild form of Bipolar disorder that wasn't known about until she was in her first year at NYU. She is well medicated and Tyler helps monitor her and take care of her in this front. She is generally pretty even but has had ups and downs.
- She has always loved animals, from the ones on the farm when she was a child to the birds she often feeds at the park. She has a thing for buying stuff with animals on it, everything from animal figurines (which are slowly taking over every surface in the Falco's place) to cups and aprons with animals printed on them.
- Lily and Tyler are both very sexually open as long as they are honest with each other about things and share when possible (threesome, orgy, the occasional trip to a fetish club when Lily has her way about it)
- They own and run a sex toy, etc. review site where they do both written and video reviews called Frisky Business.

Previous RPG: Starchild Academy
Year: Freshman
Major: Gender and Sexuality with minor in creative writing
Theme Song: Optional
Personality: Scrappy, sarcastic, sexual, confident and opinionated
Three/Five Relevant Life Facts:
Rianna's parents died when she was 8. She was forced into the foster system and after 3 bad homes in a row, she became a street kid. Being homeless meant doing anything for food, money and shelter. Eventually, she met a kid her own age who also lost his parents. His brother and sister let Rianna crash there. They didn't want to bother with fostering her,but they helped her become emancipated. She got her GED, got a job, food stamps and whatever she needed to survive. After two years of community college, she transferred to NYU.
Rianna is rough around the edges and can get very defensive if criticized. The other college students went to school and not only did they know more, they had better social graces and sophistication. Not having a home and family makes Rianna extremely uncomfortable around kids, suburbanites and "fancy" people.
Rianna is a staunch feminist. ****-shaming,sexuality bashing(i.e. polyamourous, asexual, sapiosexual),double standards and general misogyny pisses her off.
Rianna is bisexual and she's bad several sex adventures. However, she has no patience with anyone vanilla, not taking threeways seriously and assuming she'll put out for every male or female she's with. She's been in open relationships before and once dated a transgender male. She works at a sex shop and part-time at an underground BDSM playground
Rianna has kept a diary most of her life, but she writes for pleasure as well. Growing up,reading books and writing poetry helped keep her sane. In her last school, she was in literary magazine and the school newspaper. She writes erotica under a pen name.

Five Relevant Life Facts: * He lived the first four years of his life in London. His father was an artist, his mother a professor of Russian literature. The way his father told it, theirs had been the greatest love story ever told. And he, Ilya, was the greatest product of that love.
* From the beginning it seemed clear Ilya was a particularly bright boy, but it wasn't until the Derby family relocated to America that they realized how much. He was a mathematic genius.
* While most children were out playing, making friends, Ilya was in his room, hovering at the far wall, which his father had turned into a massive chalkboard. The room perpetually smelled of chalk, and his hair, clothes, face and hands were more often than not sprinkled with a helping of the white dust. He had no friends, and if his parents were artists and romantics, he was logical and closed.
* He was eleven when schools started courting him. In the end he chose NYU to follow his mentor. And perhaps in an effort to do what his mother had always wanted him to do, to balance his focus, he had taken on a second major, along with mathematics. In her honor, and in honor of his roots, he chose Russian and Slavic studies.
* He is now in his third year. He is hardly a social butterfly, but compared to the boy who first came on to the campus, he has improved some. But he is growing, and he needs to broaden his horizons even more. He might need help.

Name: Grace Falco
Age: Twenty-Six
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: Third
Major: Music
Theme Song: Whore by In This Moment
Personality: Capricious, Frank, Audacious, Melancholy, and Reckless.
Five Fast Facts:
- Grace’s parents were no better equipped to deal with the birth of their fourth and final child than they were when they were too young to know any better seventeen years earlier, when her oldest sibling was first born. Never having fully outgrown the peace and love flower power of the 60s, it seemed her parents were always chasing something, be it the Greatful Dead’s next venue, the next psychedelic induced high or their lost youth – the responsibility of raising their four children be damned. With her parents on the road half the year and in a perpetual state of inebriation the other half, child protective services might have been called in on counts of negligence but for Grace’s oldest sister inheriting the responsibility of looking after her two youngest siblings from their brother after he fled for the army to escape rumors of being a sexual predator.
- Her older sister did her best to prepare school lunches, do the laundry, change out the linens and keep a watchful eye on her aging siblings and was rewarded for her efforts with general insolence and ungratefulness. Grace might have complained the food was too stale or the linens too stiff but the sad truth was that the baby of the family found it difficult to reconcile the fact that her most staunch parental figure was only fourteen years her senior. Discipline would be hard fought and rarely won where Grace was concerned, who found rebellion all too convenient if not a bit cliché. When she was old enough to figure out how to obtain a metro card on her own, she found herself hopping on the B train at Brighton Lane and taking it into Manhattan where she was deposited two blocks from her older brother’s flat.
- Grace was thirteen the first time she turned up on Tyler Falco’s doorstep, lips chapped, torn jeans soaked, the dye from her freshly painted pink hair dripping on his floor after a freak summer storm caught her unawares. The two were no more than strangers at the time, their useless parents being their only shared connection, yet he took her in all the same. Over the next couple of years, a general pattern would form: Grace would turn up randomly after a fight with her sister and stay for several weeks before growing bored or restless or occasionally overridden with guilt and returning home, only to do it all again several months later. Tyler being better equipped to deal with her mood swings and in general being the cooler of the two siblings became the closest thing to an authoritative figure, albeit unorthodox, in her life. He may not have been the one to teach her how to tie her shoes or help her with her homework, but he was there to teach her how to properly roll a joint, sniff out her drugs for tampering and perhaps most importantly, the necessity of using a safe word when engaged in unorthodox sexual encounters.
- Though her moods change about as frequently as the color of her hair, the one constant in Grace’s life has been her love for music – specifically DJing. What began as a recreational hobby of mashing songs together has become something far more involved and damn near religious for Grace. She scraped enough money together from odd jobs to buy her first turntable at sixteen, spinning for friends at house parties and gradually working her way up to the underground rave scene. Never having been one much for materialistic things, if there is one possession she takes pride in it is her DJ Tech DIF-1S Scratch Mixer. Those familiar with the DJ circuit in the New England states are generally want for saying there are three things worth seeing in New York City: the view from the Empire State Building, Strawberry Fields in Central Park and watching Grace Falco spin.
-. During one of her more stable periods, Grace managed to attend classes at New York City College diligently for two straight years before taking a temporary hiatus from school when the opportunity to travel Europe came up. What was supposed to be a six month sojourn turned into a prolonged absence of about four years. Grace returned stateside in order to attend her brother’s wedding, conveniently abandoning her French lover with little explanation after a drunken and pharmaceutical induced bender found her waking up naked next to his best friend with little recollection of the events from the night before. She has been living in Manhattan for the past year now after having reenrolled in school and has conveniently rented an apartment only a couple of blocks away from her brother and his young new wife.

Name: Mallorie Gates
Age: Twenty-Six
Previous RPG: New York University
Year: Seventh First
Major: Drama
Theme Song: Chandalier by Sia
Personality: Temperamental, Fickle, Self-Centered, Sensitive and Selectively-Devoted.
Five Fast Facts:
- Mallorie was only six when her father passed away, and for all intents and purposes was raised by a single mother for most of her life. Her older sister would go on to marry two years later, unintentionally abandoning her younger eight-year-old sister to their emotionally absent mother and her string of casual boyfriends.
- Left home for college immediately after graduating from high school following a misunderstanding with her mother. Mallorie entered into a sexual relationship with one of her (very married) college professors during her freshmen year of college. The affair lasted the duration of two terms until she was unceremoniously set aside for another doe-eyed, blonde-haired, fair-skinned freshmen girl. She dropped out of school two months later following a string of poor marks and a restraining order from the aforementioned very married college professor.
- Mallorie wasted little time moving on to the next relationship in her life. It had the same short life-span and doomed flare to it. Mallorie soon fell into a familiar pattern: she would attach herself to older, professionally established and emotionally unavailable men, who abandon her as soon as the novelty wears off and her investment in the relationship becomes too intense.
- Her last relationship found her stranded just outside of Vegas with only the clothes on her back and fifteen dollars to her name. After nearly two years without having spoken to either her mother or her sister, Mallorie placed a Collect call to her sister in New York City, pleading for a money transfer. She turned up a week later on Amanda Gates’ doorstep and has been crashing with her sister ever since, meditating on bad habits and past mistakes, and reluctantly struggling to turn over a new leaf and get her life back together. Cohabitation between the sisters has had its share of on and off days but Amanda’s positive influence is slowly (and we’re talking snail’s pace here) rubbing off on Mallorie, most notably in her decision to reenroll in school.
- Over the course of seven years Mallorie has the equivalent of four and a half semesters of college under her belt from five different colleges around the nation. Mallorie has at one point or another in her life declared several different majors for herself including History, Philosophy, Gender and Sexuality Studies and English. Each major was largely a reflection of the man in her life at the time, as Mallorie has a tendency to completely lose herself in her relationships and adopt the interests and traits of the person she is dating. The only thing definitivelyhers that she has retained over the years has been her love of musical theater, her guitar and her insatiable hunger for frozen desert treats and junk food.

Name: Nick Grimsby
Age: Nineteen
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: Second
Major: Music, with a minor in Business Studies
Personality: Pragmatic, single-minded, competitive, innovative, dauntless.
Three Relevant Life Facts:
- Though technically a middle child, one of four boys, Nick has lived most of his young life being treated like the baby of his (modestly generous) household. Much to his chagrin. An overachiever and nigh-maniacal perfectionist, Nick learned early on to despise pity, resent special treatment, and yearn to be taken seriously—never to have his mistakes 'excused' or 'overlooked' just because of his childhood illness. At age five, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia; suddenly his snotty entitled behavior was acceptable, even expected in light of his condition, and Nick was rewarded and coddled for the mediocrity he’d been inherently born to rally against. He was a brave little soldier. A fighter. A hero. For getting up every morning on his own, routinely taking his handful of debilitating pills, for dressing himself and brushing his teeth and using the restroom correctly and basically functioning like a mentally deficient toddler.
- What got him through the chemotherapy, the appointments, the tests and the constant inundation of pity was, directly, his obsession with music, and indirectly, his older brother. Nick took to music like a bird to flight, a natural prodigy from the moment his hand touched his brother’s beaten old guitar and suddenly he had a channel through which to focus his hyper-obsessive behavior. He’d spend days at a time working at that guitar, then the violin, then ultimately the keyboard which would become his true love. Meanwhile, his older brother essentially nannied him from afar—the only person Nick would permit to do so, including his parents—taking care of him during his lowest points and even going so far as to donate the bone marrow that would save his life. The two of them became inseparable, and between them, they formulated an idea to milk Nick’s musical talent for all it was worth. Roping in their eldest brother, they’d go on to form a family band.
- Said band had a modicum of success, mostly among the tween girl set who were permitted to enjoy the Grimsby boys’ brand of harmless catchy pop-rock. They even produced a CD, took a nationwide tour, and opened once or twice for Avril. Eventually, their popularity would fizzle out as the boys grew older and less interested in entertaining twelve year old girls, though Nick himself still regrets not pushing them a little harder, playing their music a little better and making a genuine career out of their lump of mostly untapped, shapeless talent. Attending NYU is his second choice of professional paths, though it’s his hope to diversify into the music management end of things to hopefully give overeager kids like him a better shot at stardom.

Name: Virginia 'Don’t Call Her Ginny' Kidd
Age: Twenty-one
Previous RPG: Blood of Raziel (sort of)
Year: First
Major: Psychology
Personality: Brusque, mercurial, disparaging, selectively doting, unabashed.
Three Relevant Life Facts:
- Virginia’s childhood was like a progression of clichés. Born The Pastor’s Daughter, a good decent God-fearing girl she clung to the vestiges of decency long past the age most children of religion would shed them for more hedonistic pursuits. She swore her undying devotion to Christ, donned a purity ring and avowed to save her virginity for marriage but the wiles of teenage boys wasn’t something she was altogether prepared for, even with her bible-thumping father breathing down the modest collars adorning her neck. At fifteen she ended up pregnant, terrified and confused, but ultimately resourceful and her parents never found out about her convenient subsequent miscarriage. They’d be too busy disapproving of the girl Virginia became, immediately after.
- Religious convictions fully shed, Virginia evolved from The Pastor’s Daughter into The Goth Chick, having turned her interest from bible passages and crucifixes to alternative rock and heavy, garish eyeliner. Though she never quite made the jump to full on devil-worshipping, blood drinking vampire fetishist, her wardrobe became entirely black, mesh, and indecent, and her sweet innocent naiveté progressed into sour, grim-faced cynicism. It was all her (genuinely good) parents could do, to keep some form of leash on her until she finished high school, though the leash snapped not long after graduation and Virginia left home, intent on exploring her options beyond the safe suburban bubble of Dallas, Texas.
- A burgeoning musician and less than cordial human being, ending up in New York City seemed almost inevitable. Enrolling in NYU was something of an afterthought, the result of a music career that failed to take off immediately and with minimal effort and being a student was something she could do, with the help of her estranged parents who were overjoyed to reconnect and channel their funds into what they hoped would become the ‘resurrection’ of their first born.

Age: 26.
Previous RPG: General Hospital: The Next Generation.
Year: First.
Major: Undeclared.
Personality: Naive, Quiet, Child-like, Kind, Determined.
Five Fast Facts: - Born Shannon, her childhood was not easy. She was raised by two druggies who could barely keep clothes on the back of her and her sister, let alone feed them. She never really knew what a real home was like because all she knew were shelters. The only place she felt at home in and got a decent meal every day was school, when she attended that was.
- When she was thirteen, her parents owned money to a drug dealer. He meant business and threatened to kill them if they didn't pay. Desperate to stay alive, they did the unthinkable to save their own skins; they sold their daughter. The man had had his eye on the pretty young thing for years and decided that she was good enough trade. They never did business together after that and he kept their daughter. Happy to have one less mouth to feed, they didn't even try to get their daughter back.
- The man, whom she only knew as 'Sir', was not very kind to the young girl over the years. He mistreated her in every way possible. By the time she reached adult hood, she had learned to let him do whatever he wanted to. If she didn't protest, time passed by more quickly. She could have just as easily taken off when she was no longer under his guardianship legally after she turned eighteen but fear paralyzed her from ever leaving. She was afraid of what he would do if she tried to escape and never even thought about attempting.
- By some miracle, ten years later she was found when the cops were doing a drug search in the house. Her rescue had made the news, which helped her find her sister. After a trip to the hospital for a physical examination and maybe therapist visits, she was released into the world and reunited with her sister. Though it had been ten years since the two saw each other, their bond was as strong was ever and she clung to that as she got used to being in the world again. Wanting to get away from her past, she left Shannon behind and changed her named to Shane.
- She spent three years adjusting to being a functioning member of society again and she worked on getting her GED. Being so far behind in her studies, she worked her butt off to be ready for the test. When she took it, she passed with flying colors and she went into take the SATs, passing those too. To her delight, she was accepted to NYU with an undeclared major. She may be the oldest freshman in her class but she didn't care. She wasn't going to let what happened to her stand in the way of what she wanted and she wanted to go to college. She wanted to learn all that she could and get a good job some day and nothing was going to stop her.

Age: Nineteen
Previous RPG: The Cape
Year: First
Major: Dance [Tisch]
Personality: Ruminative, Tenacious, Compassionate, Spontaneous, and Graceful
Three Fast Facts:
- A fraternal twin, Rae was born first, beating her sister by one minute flat. This ‘leader of the pack’ mentality carried over into adolescence. Wherever Rae went, crowds followed. She had a hot body, hot friends, and a hot attitude. Randi never seemed to mind the arrangement. The social butterfly and the wallflower played well together. Their closeness doubled when Randi lost her sight. Initially, at least. Rae eventually grew envious of the attention her father bestowed upon her counterpart. She channeled her hurt into dance team and academics. A model boyfriend was thrown into the mix for good measure. Rae hoped, if she was popular enough, her father would take notice. What he did was pull the rug out from under her. Rae’s charade crumbled once her dad accepted a principal’s position in Rockport, Maine. He made the move for Randi, to be closer to better physicians, and it wasn’t fair.
- Though Rae loved her sister, she had a difficult time adjusting to their new life. She joined the ‘in crowd’ but was no longer the Queen Bee. No dance team existed, so she was relegated to cheerleading. When Rae finally thought she’d found solace in Johnny Evans, he dumped her for his ex. This perfect storm of disappointments led to a monumental mistake. Rae slept with her sister’s boyfriend Dexter. She was drunk and stupid, so she hid the indiscretion. But, soon, real feelings formed. Dexter and she were about to confess when Randi discovered their secret. Her twin was (understandably) unforgiving. She banished Rae from her life and never looked back.
- Losing Randi devastated Rae. Her last year of high school was spent with her head in a bottle. Dreams of Oxford and Princeton quickly dissipated, along with her pristine GPA. Rae attempted to run from her demons after graduation. She left Maine without a word and hitchhiked to New York. Her spontaneous, vagabond ways eventually landed her in Europe. Rae moved there with ‘friends’ and tried to be someone else. Anyone else. What she became was HIV positive. Now she’s returned to New York for treatment and schooling. Her parents are funding her education and, unknowingly, her medication. Rae has no idea Randi is also studying at NYU.

Name: Paige Morgan.
Age: 19.
Previous RPG: General Hospital: The Next Generation.
Year: Second.
Major: International Relations.
Personality: Stubborn, sassy, observer, brazen, loyal.
Five Fast Facts: - Paige Morgan was born into a life of crime due to her father working for her mobster uncle as a hitman. Despite that and her mother being private investigator, never knowing her father because he "died" when she was a baby, and having a half sister she hated, she had a relatively normal childhood. Well normal other than the occasional kidnapping but given the nature of the business, that was considered normal. Paige was protected as she grew up with body guards and she never thought anything of it because they were like uncles to her.
- As she grew up, Paige was the perfect combination of her parents in looks and personality. The two traits that stuck out the most for her was her knack to be unpredictable and daring. She loved to keep people on their toes and have an adrenaline rush. The police station was a familiar place to her as she aged into her teen years but nothing ever stuck because of her grandmother, who was a lawyer. She could pretty much get away with everything.
- Naturally, Paige was interested in what uncle did did. She wanted to be involved with the mob but everyone protested. They didn't want to be involved in that life. It took her a while but she finally broke them down and came to a compromise with them; she had to make it through four years of college then after that, if she still wanted to be apart of it, they would discuss it. It was easy enough to agree with knowing that one day, she could do what she wanted. In preparation for the coming years, she went into international relations.
- Freshman year was a blur for Paige because when she wasn't in class, she was out at parties. It was college, you're supposed to live it up so she did. She decided she would get serious about her schooling after her first year over with and she got her partying out of the way. Luckily, she had someone to keep her on track and make sure she did her school work; her aunt Kristina. She knew that if she screwed up, Kristina would report back to her mother and she'd be in trouble.

Personality: Unforgiving, honest, independent, bull headed, sassy.
Three Relevant Life Facts: - Randi was born a twin and for the first few years of her life, she and her twin sister Rae were equal, no one twin got more attention than the other. However, that changed when the girls were six and Randi began complaining of headaches and blurry vision. By the time they got her to the doctor, it was too late; the tumor that was on her brain had already taken away her eye sight. No longer was the attention to the twins equal but it was more focused on Randi. That put some strain between the once close twins.
- Randi had adjusted to her disability quite well by the time she was in high school; she had learned to read braille, figured out how to use speech to text on every electronic device that had it, recorded all of her lessons to play back later, she was even playing the bass guitar. She was a pro at acting normal and most people didn't even know she was blind unless they got a good look at her. The strain that was caused earlier in their life was still present for the twins, manifesting in a lot of argument and a love hate relationship as they got into their teenage years.
- Their already fragile relationship was even more damaged when Rae slept with Randi's boyfriend. It was only one night and they were drink but to Randi, it was unforgivable act and she didn't hesitate to cut both of them out of her life. She couldn't possibly keep them in her life after they betrayed her. It didn't even matter that one of them was her twin sister. Biology be damned when it came to betrayal. Distancing herself from Rae, Randi moved out of the home they shared with their parents and in with their older sister, living with her for the remainder of her high school years. As soon as she graduated, she left town for college and she hasn't gone back since. She probably never would, not as long as Rae was still living there.

Major: Economics
Theme Song: I Don’t Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me) by Marilyn Manson
Personality: Brazen, Hedonistic, Impetuous, Selectively Affable and Enterprising.
Five Relevant Life Facts:
- For the longest time Jackson O’Donnell was the prodigal son who could do no wrong; he came from a solid nuclear unit, his parents both members of the church’s senior council, with a natural talent for throwing around a pigskin and tackling people to the ground. Going into his senior year, Jack boasted a 4.0 GPA and was named an All American. His storied high school career was punctuated by a State championship, homecoming royalties and a full ride waiting for him at USC. Everything was absurdly perfect, everything going right in his life, so naturally everything ended up going completely to shIt.
- No one could quite explain how such a good egg turned out to be so rotten. Maybe it had something to do with Jack’s father getting laid off from his twenty year tenured community college professor profession due to budgetary cuts. Maybe it was because his mother got burned out working three jobs to pick up the slack. Maybe it was the divorce that followed suit. Maybe it was all the self-medicating with booze and drugs. They say that marijuana’s a gateway drug. And boy were there ever other drugs. Like cocaine. And ecstasy. And shrooms. There were lots and lots of shrooms. Maybe it was all the girls and on occasion the boys when Jack was too fucking high to know the difference. Isn’t college a lovely thing? Maybe it was a combination of all the above. Or maybe it was none of it. Maybe Jack has simply been a bad egg all along.
- One minute Jack was a red shirted freshmen for the Trojans and the next he was clear across the country in New York City for seemingly no rhyme or reason, having dropped out of USC with absolutely no explanation or warning. Jack abandoned his full ride scholarship and promised football career because of a needed “change of scenery” but also because he found he enjoyed selling drugs and getting high infinitely more than he did chasing a pigskin around a field all day. One activity proved to be far less extraneous than the next, not to mention offered more instantaneous gratification. And Jack is anything if not someone who craves instant gratification at just about all times of the day.
- From bottom of the rung street peddler to comfortable middle man, Jack has done reasonably well for himself over the last year or so, making enough money to pay his way through school. His only claim to fame of late has been the fact that he now grows his own grass in a closet under intense artificial lighting in a rather impressive makeshift climate control environment largely invented by his absurdly intelligent roommate. Having become inspired by his small time enterprise, Jack thought it only made sense that he study economics. You know … for reasons. :look:
-Jack has an absurd, peculiar, irrational, inexplicable hatred for Jennifer Lawrence. Don’t ask him why. He just does.

Five Fast Facts:
- Deacon's birth parents were anything but responsible and loving. He spent his first six years of life living in a grimy trailer park eating canned vegetables for two of his three meals (cereal was the third). His mother was an ex-beauty pageant queen turned junkie, and his father was a playboy cop kicked off the force for drinking on the job. His father eventually left his mother for a stripper, and Deacon was handed off to child services when she couldn't cope. He was adopted by a wealthy family but failed to connect with them despite their attempts to earn his affection.
- Deacon uses photography as a coping mechanism. He's been taking pictures daily for the past twelve years. He can't imagine pursuing another career. To even talk about it would be blasphemy.
- Deacon drinks heavily. It started off as innocent teenage fun, but eventually alcohol became a necessity. Deacon really lost himself in the bottle once he abandoned his high school girlfriend without so much as a goodbye. After dating Maya for three years and promising to go to LA with her, Deacon's insecurities and selfish fears led him to buy a one-way plane ticket to New York City. Although he has not spoken to Maya since breaking her heart, the guilt is constantly beating in his head. Vodka is all that quiets the noise.
- Deacon volunteers at a homeless shelter on the weekends. It reminds him of the filth he was initially raised in. He wants to give back in a small way, although he shares this activity with no one. It would damage his rebel without a cause persona beyond repair.

Name: Michaela Staples
Age: 19
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: 2nd
Major: Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a Specialization in Classical Voice [Steinhardt] (Minor: French)
Theme Song: Optional
Personality: Independent, private, soulful, soft spoken, artistic.
Five Relevant Life Facts: * Michaela does not ever speak of her childhood. She doesn't talk of where she came from, about her family... As far as anyone would know, she came on to this world a ready made human being with no origin. If even asked a question as to her life before, she shuts down, or she changes the subject.
* She began her voice training in high school, and it was her teacher there who made so that she even got the audition for NYU. And the even bigger helping hand came when, realizing she would not be able to afford the tuition, her teacher chose to foot the bill. Michaela would have graciously turned her down, but her teacher would not have it. Just like that, she was headed to college, and as far as the school was concerned, her tuition was paid, so they had no question or complaint.
* Michaela does not live in the dorms. She doesn't have an apartment in New York. She doesn't have an apartment anywhere. Her precious few belongings spend most of their time in her locker at the university library where she works. Some nights she'll get away with sleeping there, but other nights she sleeps where she can, which is either in the park or in an all night movie theater. If not for her access to showers, to washing machines, or her work wages, everyone would know her for being homeless.
* She's not going to give up; she never has. She is willing to go through rough times so long as she sees the light at the end of the tunnel, and for her the diploma from NYU and her future as a singer is worth all the discomfort.
* She lost her job at the library when she was found sleeping there one morning. She's been trying to find another job, to keep herself afloat, but her wages have dwindled, and if she wants to make them last, she has no choice. She has to go by the shelter.

Major: Nursing
Theme Song: Optional
Personality: Caring, patient, lively, contemplative, fiery.
Five Relevant Life Facts: * He grew up at the mercy of his two older sisters, who used him as their dress up doll, their scapegoat, their servant... David didn't care. He was a solid brat, and he gave them hell. His father told him time and again that he would not amount to anything. His mother tried to set him right, to be as encouraging as one could, but he could not change who he was, nor did he try to.
* He didn't turn things around until high school, when he joined the baseball team. He had something to strive for now, and he gave it his all. His one regret was that his father never got to see it; he died when David was thirteen. He was well on his way to a full ride scholarship when he was injured in a game, at the start of his senior year.
* His dream ripped from him, he fell very close to losing his way. He might have done that, too, if not for Isabella. They'd been in school together all their lives, but they'd never spent more time together than regular school life brought on, until his baseball career ended. Suddenly she was the only friend he had, the only friend he wanted. They only slept together the one time, after senior prom, but that was all it took to change their lives. Weeks later, Izzy told him they were having a baby.
* Neither wanted to get rid of the baby. But Izzy's dreams were not dead like his. They were big, and they were within her reach, but not with a baby. David made the choice: he would raise the baby. And months later, their son was born: David Suarez Jr. Soon Izzy was off, and it was just him and DJ. Suddenly he had a new dream, and it was to give his child the best life he could have, even if he had to work three jobs to do it. He would always be there for his boy.
* Izzy comes to visit, every so often, but it's for DJ, not David. They were never a couple and never would be. Meanwhile, David knew he had to do something drastic to give DJ a better shot. He'd put a cross on college, but he had to go for it, and he did. Long ago, before baseball had come into his mind, he had wanted to be a nurse, like his mother.

Three Relevant Life Facts:
-Ruby was raised in upstate New York, to rich parents who were childless into their late forties and had a 'miracle' happen when the wife became pregnant with Ruby. Of course, they worried about abnormalities in the birth but everything went well. Ruby was a very needy child, and grew into a angsty teenager. When she was 16 she was caught having an affair with an assoicate of her father's. She was always an extremely intelligent person and adapted to any situation.

Ruby tends to be a relationship addict and loves having someone on a string. She will date men older or younger than her as long as they spark her interest.

Previous RPG: Loners Dinner Club
Year: 1st
Major: Dance [Tisch] (Minor: Psychology)
Theme Song: Optional
Personality: Unassuming, active, motherly, resourceful, perfectionist
Five Relevant Life Facts: * In her earliest years, she only had her mother. Her father had left before she could make any kind of memory of him. He never returned, and Shirley tried not to tell her mother that she might have wished to know him. The two of them alone, they got along just fine. Her mother wanted her to have all she could want, but Shirley never wanted much. Her best memories were of sitting in their tiny apartment at night, snug in her mother's arms while she read the adventures of Anne Shirley, for whom the girl had been named.
* She was eight years old when her mother met Brian, nine when she married him, and by the time she was thirteen she had two young sisters. In the beginning she had trouble with the change. She did not want to share her mother with this man, didn't want to leave her home. But Brian was good to them, was never thrown from trying to be a worthy presence in her life, and in time she grew to love him as a father without realizing. And with her sisters she was even more in heaven.
* She started ballet when she was four years old. Her mother had taken her to see the Nutcracker at Christmas, and she was so taken with the magic of what she saw that she had not stopped twirling around the apartment until her mother had signed her up for lessons. She did not tire of it, only grew more impassioned with each year, and more skilled as well. This was all she needed to be happy in life, and she would not stop.
* She came out to her mother and stepfather when she was sixteen, after her six-year-old sister Sarah walked in on her making out with Grace Wheelan and ran to tell their parents. They didn't so much as blink, and her 'big secret' became no more than her reality. Shirley dated Grace for two years, up until she left for school. The break was rougher on Shirley than it was on Grace, but Shirley is putting on a brave face.
* Coming to NYU, being accepted at Tisch, it was all she'd worked on for a long time, which might have factored into her break with Grace. But she was not going to be made to regret this choice. Dance was her life, her future. She wants to be just like her idol, just like Sydney Jordan. And now she's in, and it's harder than she thought it would be, but that's alright. She thrives under pressure.

Personality: Independent. Impulsive. Determined. Caring. Happy
Three/Five Relevant Life Facts:
- Dexter grew up in New York City, but the dream of attending NYU was a pipe dream. Raising himself, due to a druggie for a mother and an absentee father, Dexter was destined to be just another statistic. That changed when he found his father in Rockport, MN.
- Initially, Dexter was a loner. Staying away from making connections was the only way for him to protect himself. Then he met Randi DeMoss. She was beautiful, vibrant and a firecracker and Dexter finally let himself connect. Everything was perfect. His father and he were connecting, he was getting good grades and he had the perfect girlfriend. Then a drunken night with another girl during a stupid fight with Randi brought their romance to an end. It didn’t help that the girl was Randi’s sister, Rae or the fact that the two had developed real feelings for each other. Randi distanced herself and wanted nothing to do with him. Rae fell into the wrong crowd. Dexter focused on school and his familial relationships.
- The rest of his senior year went well. After high school, he, Johnny and Parker traveled the world and Dexter saw places and people he never thought possible. Now, he’s enrolled as a freshman at NYU, majoring in Journalism. His hope is to eventually get into law school and follow in his father’s footsteps. Additional Information:
The inspiration behind this game was always to bring back characters from previous games that have gone defunct that we enjoyed playing in the past. People are not limited to bringing back old characters, so if anyone wants to create brand spankin' new characters, feel free to do so. This is also a bit of a sandbox game. I won't necessarily be organizing "events" for all characters to attend. Any events I suggest in the first post will be entirely optional as the whole city is pretty much at our disposal.

Rules:
- I won't enforce a boy/girl rule unless I notice we are getting a larger ratio of one over the other.
- This is a mature game. Mature things will happen (Yes, I borrowed that from Mandy!)
- Death happens in life. If you feel like abandoning a character, let us know and we may be able to arrange something fantastically tragic to happen to them.
- Multiple uses of the same PB is allowed given the fact that people who want to bring in old characters from previous games should not feel hindered if someone else had a character with the same face.

Age: 20
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: Second
Major: Urban Design and Architecture Studies
Theme Song: “Broken” by Seether
Personality: Smart. Self-Conscious. Creative. Driven. Irrational.
Three/Five Relevant Life Facts:
- Daisy was born to a wealthy family. Her mother died when she was just a child and she was left with her cold and distant father. Her father’s way of parenting was to buy Daisy’s affection and it worked well when she was a child. The older she became, the more she craved parental guidance and affection, but it was no use.
- Daisy went through an extremely rebellious stage in high school. She partied. Dated. Hung out with the wrong crowd, but it did nothing to garner her father’s attention. Her only source of parental affection was that of her housekeeper, Madeline. Daisy had always thought of her as a second mother and the only one who truly cared about her. When Madeline became ill in her old age, Daisy was determined to make her proud and turn her life around. Daisy put her nose in the books and let her social life fade to black and Daisy graduated at the top of her class. Sadly, Madeline didn’t make it to her graduation and Daisy realized that if she wanted anything, she was going to have to do it herself.
- She began NYU as an Urban Design major and has been excelling in all of her classes. Though a recent rejection by her American Law professor Spencer has left her in sorts. No surprise she had some daddy issues, but Spencer intrigues her and she’s felt something she hasn’t in quite a long time. She has let her social life become nonexistent and she is determined to change that. This year she has vowed to change her ways and try to balance her life out.

Name: Carey Johansson (“CJ”)
Age: Nineteen
Previous RPG: N/A - original
Year: First
Major: Undeclared
Theme Song: "Jackass" – Green Day
Personality: Absent-minded, easygoing, tactless, juvenile, comedic.
Five Fast Facts:
- High school was the best four years of CJ’s life, hands down. Growing up in a small town suburb of Chattanooga, TN with a population of less than 9,000, he was a big fish in a small pond and he rather liked it that way. He lived comfortably, his father owning his own chain of convenience stores and gas stations and his mother a retired labor and delivery nurse turned homemaker, there was always enough money to go around and likewise something delicious being baked or roasted in the Johansson’s sizable chef’s oven. His childhood wasn’t fifties sitcom-esque but it was happy and relatively drama-free, barring the odd drunken brawl at the neighborhood barbecue or gossip-driven spats between housewives with little else to do but make up stories about who was stepping out on whom.

- In elementary school while whacking whiffle balls from tees with giant plastic bats CJ would discover his second greatest ever love – what he’d soon come to know as the sport of baseball. In middle school he wielded his first aluminum bat with gusto, his school tragically too small and poor to afford a legit afterschool baseball club but he made a second home out of the Chattanooga Magic Mountain batting cages. By the time he’d reached high school CJ had already set his heart on a future career as a professional athlete, and rather than focusing a lick on his studies he poured his heart and soul into junior varsity and varsity baseball – improving, competing, winning, and most importantly, getting noticed. His obsession paid off in that regard—CJ earned a fair bit of attention from college scouts as early as his sophomore year on the team, having lead his rinkydink school to numerous state and regional championships as a star hitter and third baseman. Though he wasn’t precisely the top of the food-chain at Signal Mountain High—that honor belonged to the members of the football team, as per the typical culture of any small town school—but he was certainly one of the more popular students with his very own entourage of hangers-on and eager teenage girls looking to become the future Mrs. Johansson and ride his coattails to fortune and glory.

- Sophomore year was a monumental year. Not only was his baseball career burgeoning and his social status neatly established, but CJ caught the eye of probably the only other person in a class of 200 who had absolutely minimal interest in the opposite sex. Jakob was an art student dabbling in photography and was therefore tasked with the job of yearbook photographer; CJ was the school’s single greatest athlete and potential future claim to fame. Under the pretense of professionalism CJ and Jakob spent a great deal of time together, largely behind the equipment shed on the football field and in the back seat of CJ’s beat up jeep cherokee. Theirs was a romance for the ages—something worthy of novelization or gay coming of age foreign film. Jock and artist. Artist and jock. For CJ, having only recently come to grips with his alternative sexuality, Jakob was like a life jacket, introducing him to his homosexuality slowly and gently whilst being completely understanding of his stupid teenage boy faux-pas. He was utterly smitten. Stupidly so. Though still quite in the closet—knowing his fellow jock friends would have no other choice but to kick the shit out of him for being queer—he had no qualms with imagining his future life with Jakob, gay married and living in a more enlightened part of the world sometime after high school…

- Upon graduation, CJ legitimately had his pick of NCAA division I schools and a full ride guaranteed. He bypassed them all without hesitation, and merrily followed after Jakob to NYU—a division III school, laughably nonexistent on the baseball radar. But Jakob wanted to attend Tisch’s film program, wanted to spread his queer wings and fly north to the nearest gay metropolis and fit in amongst his fellow artsy hipsters, and after three years of very intensive dating CJ didn’t think twice before putting Jakob’s wants and desires before his own. Precisely three months later, after having moved in to their very own apartment and starting classes and experiencing just a small sliver of what NYC had to offer, CJ’s persistent cornfed simplicity and cultural cluelessness became more annoying than endearing and Jakob promptly kicked him to the curb.

- Stranded in a huge city completely on his own, CJ floundered. He was far too ashamed to simply drop out and head back home to Tennessee, tail between his legs and heart thoroughly broken, but a series of calls home to his old baseball coach (far more understanding than his father) reinvigorated him with purpose. He’d tough out his freshman year at NYU, flex his muscles in the spring when baseball season came around, and once more the division I offers would come rolling in and he could peace out of NYC for good. In the meantime, he’d move into a shared flat with some roomies, take a job at Starbucks, survive on his tips and scholarship stipends, bumble his way through gen-ed classes and desperately try to get over Jakob.

Name: Aurora Kidd
Age: 18
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: Freshman, Computer Science
Theme Song: Karma Chameleon – Culture Club
Personality: Destructive, Artistic, Mythomanical, Hedonistic, Outgoing
Five Fast Facts:
• As the baby of a repressed holy-than-thou family, Aurora looked to big sister Ginny to lead her behavior. Unsure of if she wanted to follow in her footsteps or be mommy and daddy’s little angel; Aurora tried a little bit of everything. She played the uptight choir girl with the promise ring affixed to her finger until she decided she liked the feeling of boys (and girls) more than the weight of a gold band upon her finger, which was about the time Virginia left Dallas.
• Without her sister around, Aurora decided to emulate her in her absence. She took it a bit further, became a practicing Wiccan and otherwise troublesome brat. The one positive thing is that despite her many changes Aurora never let her grades slip and so it was a no brainer to apply exactly where Ginny was and reattach that sisterly bond.
• Aside from a very promiscuous lifestyle Aurora hasn’t really done that much in her life, but you wouldn’t know it by the way she talks. A habitual liar with a flair for the dramatic but the plausible she’ll weave you the most engaging story ever, capture your attention and forget about you the next moment.
• Aurora is ambidextrous, double jointed and flexible (in pretty much all ways that count). At some point during her journey to New York she chatted up (and subsequently hooked up) with a Yogi of some repute. And his friends. And his friends friends. That experience taught her a lot. That she taught him some things too came as something of a surprise and promptly sent her speeding out of town with the swiftness of a gazelle avoiding lions.
• Aurora doesn't do relationships, except when she does. Ginny remains the v.i.p. of her circle but certain non-cosmopolitan gays, strange lovers, and curiously sardonic friends she's beginning to learn that some ties just may be worth having.

Name: Sydney Jordan
Age: Twenty-Four
Previous RPG: Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover
Year: Former Student / B.A. in Dance from the Tisch School of Arts
Theme Song: Shake It Out by Florence + The Machine
Personality: Cheeky, Intuitive, Sanguine, Passionate and Tenacious.
Five Fast Facts:
- Raised just outside of Los Angeles in the city of Santa Clarita, Jennifer and Edward Jordan enjoyed the moderate comfort afforded by their upper-middle class tax bracket. Having come from a world of outrageous opulence herself, it was Jennifer’s desire to see her family well-provided for without losing touch with reality and taking their good fortunes for granted. Sydney was raised to believe that nothing in life was unattainable so long as a person was willing to put in the work, and thus was instilled with a strong sense of diligence and perseverance from an early age. Each of the three girls were encouraged to pursue and explore their varying hobbies and passions. For the youngest Jordan sister, that passion was ballet.
- With the exception of the occasional sibling squabble or adolescent driven temper tantrum, the Jordan’s were happy. Everything changed the summer before Sydney’s senior year of high school when a freak car accident claimed the lives of both Jennifer and Edward. Enter Elizabeth Donahue, wealthy Virginian socialite and entrepreneur. Upon assuming guardianship of her grandchildren, Sydney and her two older sisters were forced to completely uproot their lives from Southern California to Richmond, Virginia. Their arrival attracted a good deal of attention and scrutiny from Elizabeth’s circle of stiff-upper lip friends and her sisters found different ways of coping with the uneasy situation as one retreated inwardly and the other aggressively rebelled. For her part, Sydney attempted to mediate the tension between her siblings and their estranged grandmother as best she could having found it was easier to resolve other people’s troubles rather than mediate on her own.
- Sydney adjusted to life in Richmond with relative ease, making friends quickly and even engaging in a brief courtship with the son of a family friend. Her adaptability being mistaken for pliability however, Sydney quickly realized Elizabeth’s interest in her was largely motivated by a desire to succeed with her where she had previously failed with Jennifer. Not content to let her life be molded by the ambitions of other people, Sydney began to proactively take charge of her life. In exchange for allowing herself to be paraded around as a prize debutante, she was afforded a number of social freedoms and allowed to pursue her dancing ambitions undisturbed.
- On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Sydney disappeared into the night, gone from Richmond as suddenly as when she had first arrived onto the scene. Speculation and gossip ran rampant in the wake of her departure, some claiming the impossibly high standards set forth by Elizabeth as being too great for Sydney to endure while the more colorful rumors cited imagined tensions between Sydney and her older sister over the attentions of the aforementioned boy from earlier. The truth was far less sensational; Sydney had been accepted to the Tisch School of Arts in New York City several months prior and planned her departure in the months that followed. That few people knew of her intended plans to leave had less to do with existing tensions with her grandmother or a supposed broken heart and more the fact that Sydney Jordan was, for once, thinking of herself first before anyone else.
- With her tuition covered by a savings account set aside by her parents before their deaths, Sydney found work waitressing in the city for two years to cover her rent until receiving a Corps de Ballet position with New York City ballet at the age of nineteen. Attending school full time while dancing left little time to socialize outside her immediate social circles, and though she dated a few people here and there in college, none of them ever to anything serious for the simple reason that she didn’t have time for them. The sacrifice to her social life eventually paid off when Sydney was scouted by American Ballet Theater upon graduating from NYU. The last year has seen much of the same, with her near inhuman work ethic earning her quick acclaim within the company and the newly elevated rank of Soloist.

He was always there if anybody needed him to be though. He spent most of his young adult life being a bit rebellious .
- Ned enjoyed being in the band with the other two but he always felt a bit left out. Those two had grown so close that he never felt like he had a place beside them. He had moments when he felt like he fit in with them but they became rarer and rarer.
- Since the band ended, Ned has been in L.A. working as an artist. Mostly doing graphic arts for signs and marketing company's. He paints and works with metal sculpture on the side. About a month ago the main marketing firm he works with, wanted to give him a raise...but it came with a change of venue. New York City. Three/Five Relevant Life Facts:
- The older of two middle children, Nolan definitely knows what it’s like to life in the shadows. This is definitely where his extroverted persona developed growing up. When his little brother, Nick, got diagnosed with leukemia, the shadows definitely got bigger. Oddly enough, this brought him and Nick closer. While the rest of the Grimsby clan, babied and made their lives around Nick’s illness, Nolan and Nick took every moment as precious and even at 10 years old, was a better caregiver to Nick than his parents.
- Nolan’s love of being the center of attention and Nick’s love and raw talent with music became their haven and ultimately is what made growing up in their family bearable. It eventually led them to, with their older brother, starting a family band. They were moderately successful. Released an album. Met celebrities. Toured the country. Nolan loved every moment of it, though there was a part of him that wasn’t allowed to be himself…and that weighed on him and led him to begin dabbling in various drugs to help dull the pain. Nolan is attracted to men and aside from Nick, whom he trusts more than anyone, hasn’t told another soul for fear of being rejected or pigeonholed.
- The fifteen minutes of fame wore off and after their parents paid off their dept, Nolan and the others were left with a moderate amount of money left. Out of protectiveness, Nolan followed Nick to Greenwich Village and works as a bartender and lives in an off campus apartment with Nick and various couch surfers. Nolan is proud of Nick for going to school and knows that with his ability and perseverance, Nick will be a great success one day. Nolan, on the other hand, still thrives for the spotlight and dreams of attending NYU’s drama program. Name: Griffin Summerfield
Age: Twenty-seven
Previous RPG: N/A
Year: N/A
Major: N/A
Theme Song: "Feel Good Inc." - Gorillaz
Personality: Flexible, observant, personable, self-serving, selectively scrupulous.
Three Fast Facts:
- Nothing in particular could be blamed for Griffin’s entirely unremarkable life. Being raised just past the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken, New Jersey probably didn’t help matters, nor did having a recovering alcoholic hotel maid and chain-smoking used car salesman for parents, but as far as Griffin knows, his two younger siblings actually went on to make something of themselves while he was fucking about so the blame probably lay with Griffin and his general lack of motivation. An average student with no particular extracurricular interests, Griffin learned how to successfully skip school at the age of thirteen. At fourteen, he picked up smoking and maintained the habit by pilfering his father’s used buds. At fifteen, he committed his first petty crime. The sort of kids he inevitably felt himself drifting towards, as an unsatisfied, listless teenager without any ingrained moral code, would soon push him towards complicity in an escalating scale of juvenile delinquency. Weehawken beat cops became intimately familiar with his face, in various states of disarray, and Griffin rapidly learned most of their names, having been dragged home by the scruff so frequently for truancy and other minor disputes that he could joke about seeing a select few officers more often than his own parents. At sixteen, bad behavior unsuccessfully quashed though his parents made admirable efforts, Griffin committed his first ‘less than petty’ crime—burgling a wealthy Manhattan house alongside a gaggle of older boys. From them he learned how to jimmy a lock, how to spot real alarm systems from phony ones, and how to discern the most valuable, palmable items for the quickest, easiest thefts. Though he only ended up making about one hundred bucks, the money was less his concern than the adrenaline high he rode for hours after, better than anything, even the hasty blow jobs he’d received from neighborhood girls looking to hone their own burgeoning crafts.
- Thirsting for a repeat performance, Griffin actively sought out these boys and their adult cohorts for lessons in any and all skills they could impress upon him. He absorbed intricate talents like lock picking, safe cracking, hotwiring and sleight of hand like a sponge, like he didn’t algebra, American history, or the laws of thermodynamics. New York City became his playground, and his parents saw less and less of him over the following months, far beyond the reach of his Weehawken cop buddies and lost in a city more densely populated than some small countries. His new collective of friends adopted him easily, knowing him as a kid with quick hands who wasn’t too picky about his take so long as he was presented with increasingly challenging jobs to keep his interest sharp. The police were never a concern because Griffin was careful, clever enough to know he was rapidly reaching an age when the family courts would boot him back to criminal court and he’d be the freshest, finest piece of meat at Attica, passed around and traded for cigarettes. Unfortunately, his accomplices weren’t nearly as dedicated to seeking perfection, and the eve of his seventeenth birthday he found himself in a Manhattan jail cell, glaring daggers at the friend who’d dimed him out for a shorter sentence—having been caught attempting to pawn his shit with an unreliable dealer. Blessedly Griffin managed to serve his term in juvie, being his ‘first’ offense on record, and for six months he had nothing better to do than catch up on school work and earn his GED and watch his mother gradually deteriorate and relapse with each weekly visit.
- By the time he was released, then technically a high school graduate and nearly old enough to proclaim himself an adult, Griffin had no reason to return home to New Jersey. Particularly not since his mother had fallen back on the drink for comfort and his father had grown strangely increasingly distant with him and his siblings didn’t know any better than his absence. He found legitimate work here and there, exchanging one meager job for another ad nauseam before boredom reared its head and Griffin caught up with some old contacts. It wasn’t long before he was back in the game, this time more careful and cautious about those he chose to work with and on what jobs. He was always strictly selective about marks, never choosing anything middle class and easy but strictly the opulent and arrogant. Years went by and he continued to improve, enough that he could complete many of his jobs solo without concern for being ratted out by anyone stupid enough to get caught. He chose to remain in New York City, having grown immensely comfortable with the city as his territory and saw no reason to risk expanding his operation. This proved fortunate in the end, because he was close enough to catch wind that his father had abruptly passed away from a massive heart attack and felt badly enough to attend the funeral. There, after he was buried beneath the earth and his slim collection of loved ones dispersed, his mother reeking of cheap vodka confessed to him that the man in the ground wasn’t actually his father. Griffin was gob smacked. Increasingly so, when she went on to continue that his biological father had actually been an extremely wealthy patron of a hotel at which she’d once been employed, and that the affair had been short but sweet and he’d been a consummate gentleman. Griffin listened just long enough to learn his name before hustling home and putting his google-fu skills to work; extensive research led him to Spencer Cassadine, sole living heir to his—their—father’s fortune. Five minutes of deep consideration led him to the conclusion that his unsuspecting beloved older brother probably deserved shameless, shameless blackmail.

I'm ecstatic. :D

Saving Evan Peters and Aubrey Plaza.

I'll probably bring in two more. At least one more.

If anybody is floundering for character ideas, I'd still love someone to play Nick's older brother from his original profile. My third character is probably going to be a goofy, stupid, lovable jock character who will simultaneously make the worst/best room-mate if there's any volunteers. Or multiple.

degausser 07-21-2015 02:51 PM

I will inevitably bring in a fourth, male character. If I can't think of a character from a previous game I want to play, I may volunteer for your lovable jock's roommate. Or just volunteer with whoever I bring in. We'll see!

Copy/Paste is my friend.

Probably gonna have four, so far I seem to have two girls (PB Emily Bett Rickards and Alycia Debnam Carey), so I guess I have two uncast boys, unless I do three girls and a guy or something :evil_lol:

YESSSS COPY/PASTE.

I'll probably change my Aubrey pic when I have time, but for now it'll do.

Moonie, would there be any chance that you not use Emily? She's the PB of a character we're hoping to entice Mandy to come back to play. :look:

There can be multiple characters with the same PB in NYU.

Or it used to be in the rules, at least, because the board used to be a lot bigger in those days.

degausser 07-21-2015 03:16 PM

It was in the rules. I need to add it back in because it's entirely possible that people would want to play characters from different games that had the same PBs.

Shiri S 07-21-2015 04:19 PM

By request of Libby, I bring you Shane, Kristina and Randi. Thank you copy and paste! I might take a fourth but for right now, it'll be just these three. They're up for annnnything, especially roommates for all three and a LI for Randi and Shane.

Name: Shane Lewis.

Name: Randi De Moss.
Age: 19.
Previous RPG: The Cape.
Year: Second.
Major: Music.
