I know this is a comedy, but I wonder if Britta's character wasn't meant to be funny, but Gillian made her that way. Does that make sense? :lol:

I think at first she was kinda meant to be more straighter of a character.

But when people weren't warming up to her and they could see that Gillian was a very good comedy actress they had to change her up.

I think that her character wasn't mean to be funny, but I think that she add something to her character who trying to be funny or something like that..

I know definitely Gillian is a lot funnier than I expected her to be (that's why I shouldn't judge actors based on their characters but then I do so because Jeff and Joel are so similar in their snarkiness and Yvette seems as sweet as her character Shirley. :))

I think the reason I love Britta so much is because of what Abed said, she is a wildcard. You can't really lock her in a character archetype. Community being a sitcom ofcourse exaggerates certain character traits for laughs but on the whole Britta comes across as one of the most relatable characters on television. She is smart and perceptive but can also be dorky and goofy. She is a wonderful person at heart and she wants so much to be liked and respected she often goes overboard and comes across as selfish and self righteous. She wants to fit in but she can't.

Well, I've been re-watching Community with a friend (it's the first time she's watched the episodes) and she told me that though she initially liked Britta, she was getting a bit less enthusiastic with her character the more she saw, largely because Britta's character just seemed to be more self-righteous and pushy as the series went on (when originally my friend thought of, and liked, Britta as a sort of hippie activist.)

We agreed that Britta is one of those "love her or hate her" type of characters and she would probably be really tough to be friends with in real life.

She is so cute.
