Boris Kodjoe/Undercovers (NBC): This new action thriller featuring husband and wife spies is already generating heat not just from the solid pilot episode but from the beautiful leads including Boris Kodjoe. The former fashion model has been popping up here and there since he appeared on Showtime’s series Soul Food several years ago but now we’ll be able to see him every week as he fights crime and, well, looks good doing it. NBC Picks Up Undercovers for 2010: New JJ Abrams Spy/drama Tv Series After a long hiatus from the spy scene (last work was Alias), J.J. Abrams is making a return to the spy/drama world with his new TV series, Undercovers. Undercovers will premiere on NBC in 2010. “Fringe”, the sci-fi drama was Abrams first project, which he co-created and also wrote on spec and then went through a bidding war in 2007, before scoring a deal with Fox. The plot for Undercovers revolves around the lives of two spies, who are husband and wife, working together but through some events, get involved with the dangers of living a spy life. Not many details have been released as of yet but judging from the main character casting, I have a feeling that Abrams is going for the Spy Kids kind of look. The casting sides for the lead characters describe the husband and wife Samanta and Steven, as a good looking, sharp-minded, spy couple. There is also the character Carlton Shaw, who is elderly and is supposed to have a “powerful presence”. Uncle Felix anyone? And if that wasn’t enough, there are also two young casting sides for a Lizzy and Bill, and for all we know, they could be the children of Samantha and Steven, or next Carmen and Juni Cortez. Talking about his new TV Series, UnderCovers, JJ Abrams says, “I think the fun of this new show is that it is lighter and comedic in terms of a sweeter approach. It is not an out and out comedy necessarily but it is combining a genre that I love with an attitude and a tone that I have not seen before. So that will be at least a fun experiment.” JJ Abrams has been confirmed to direct the opening episode of “Undercovers”, which will mark the first episode which he directs after 2004′s “Lost” opener, which has been said to be one of the best-directed pilots of all time. That pilot of Lost also helped Abrams launch his now blooming career into directing films such as Star Trek and Mission Impossible 3.
