Nikita 1x04 ~ "Rough Trade" Episode Discussion (airing 09/30/2010, 9/8 c on CW)
Episode Description: Source: CWNikita (Maggie Q) delves into her past when she posed as a nanny for an influential government official and decides to right the wrong of his death. During the mission, Michael (Shane West) comes to Nikita's rescue and begins to doubt Percy's (Xander Berkeley) motives. Back at Division, while undergoing basic training, Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) suffers from a panic attack which prompts Amanda (Melinda Clarke) to break her of claustrophobia. Aaron Stanford, Tiffany Hines and Ashton Holmes also star. Nick Copus directed the episode written by Carlos Coto. __________________

Awesome episode!
Too much "Mikita" for my taste  I did like their flachback scenes to see how they were as "Partners", but I wanted to learn more about Michael especially. He's so complex! Michael had been manipulated and fooled by Percy about Victor fake death! He's beginning to lose his trust for Percy, it's same for Percy towards Michael. He knows now, that Michael talks with Nikita. I really love Michael/Percy relationship! So, Percy saved Michael's life, that's why he's staying at Division. Alex/Amanda... they're amazing together! Amanda freaks me out! Alex lied about her past, Amanda knows this. Michael, don't talk with your mouth full  Shane with a baby  ... Shane with a gun  and  ... Shane with a punching ball  Shane was phenomenal!  I LOVED his line "because I owe him my life", he said it soooo great and his expression, I wanted to cry!!! Amazing! P.S: I need Malex NOW!!!! For me Shane rocked the episode last night!
He's complex...but...I'm loving discovering the formidable human being who hides behind that cold look... It broke my heart too when he says "Because I owe him my life"... I felt like hugging him. |

I thought that the episode was awesome. I thought that the flashback scenes were fantastic. Really liking that part of the show.
I agree with you both - Shane was fantastic. I am really liking him in this role. __________________

I loved tonight's episode! There was a nice balance between most of the characters, even if the episode was more centered on Michael and Nikita, but they are two of the main characters so it's to be expected. I loved all the flashback scenes, seeing Nikita so young and going in on her first mission, breaking my heart as more and more was revealed about it. I can't believe Victor did all of that, that he was still alive in Hong Kong after all those years!
And as hard as it was to see Alex having those panic attacks, I still enjoyed her scenes and am ever more curious about what happened that night, the night of all that fire. She lied to Amanda about it, and I really want to know what truly happened when she was 13 years old, screaming for her mother/parents. I enjoyed Alex/Thom's scenes as well, I really hope the writers give them more moments sometime in the future. I loved Michael in this episode, especially towards the end, hearing him say how he owes his life to Percy. My heart actually broke for him with the way he said it, the sad/conflicted expression on his face.  Quote:

This is my favorite episode so far
We got to learn more about each of the main characters and we saw different interactions. Loved all the flashbacks, I really liked the general story of this episode, with Nikita's first assignment, what happened with VictorAlex Alex/Thom Alex/Amanda Really curious about Alex's past, also Amanda's, would love to learn more about her __________________

I REALLY enjoyed this episode. I think it was the best of the bunch. Definitely my favorite.
Seeing Nikita's first mission and her training was so great. Finding out that Victor wasn't dead was a shocker! I wasn't sure if I was on board with Michael/Nikita, but this episode solidify that for me. The chemistry and their relationship was AMAZING! I loved that we delved more into that relationship and delved more into their characters. I felt so bad for both of them. Nikita being forced into the situation she didn't want to be in and Michael and his past. I really fell in love with these characters in this episode. I loved that Michael saved her. I think Michael always knew that Percy was shading, but it's so different when you hear/see it. Also I don't think Michael knew it was going on that long. I think he thought it was just recent that Percy was doing this. Just every mintue was really great.Alex phobia situation was okay. I firmly believe that Division killed her parents. I really love Thom and Alex. They have some good chemistry. The way Thom dragged her out of from under the car and held her was . I thought it was so nice of Alex to thank him. He was really touched by that. I hope they explore these two. Grow a strong friendship that could go into something more.The preview for the next episode looks to be good. __________________
