Video on my site.

How to put multimedias on www page. I tried with:

< a href=" URL CODE" >

but it didn't work.

I make videos by my own, so they aren't illegal or something. I just wanna know.

Is there anybody who can help me?

If you want to put a download link it's just

Code:

<a href="file.zip or video.avi">Name</a>
That always worked for me.

I tried this. I'll try one more time. Maby it's all because my stupid, small server? I don't know. Anyway, thank you for helping me.

what server r u hosting the videos on?

usually u have to put the parent directory above the filename. eg:

/videos/music/music.wmv

or whatever the vid is called. the above is an example only. whatever directory u have created use that name.

also the http://www.geocities.com

or whatever the domain name of where u r hosting the vids is called goes infront of the directory path.

so it would look like this in the code:

../../videos/music/music.wmv but when clicked on the full path is automatically used eg:
http://www.geocities.com/videos/music/music.wmv

the ../../ means there r 2 directories used. the 1st ../ refers to the /videos/ directory and the 2nd ../ refers to the /music/ directory. u use how ever many ../ u need depending on how many directories u have. if u haven't created any directories just use the video name and the domain name, eg:
http://www.geocities.com/music.wmv

u may or may not have to put the domain name, it all depends on how the server is set to read files. it's best to test the link to be sure.

once again the above is just an example. and geocities doesn't allow u to upload videos. 2 sites that i know that allow uploading of videos r:

Angelfire and
Tripod

the above 2 hosts only u give 20Meg of space so just compress the vids u have with Windows Media Encoder which u can get here:

Windows Media Encoder 9 Series

no you don't. That's optional, mostly for reference/ease for the webmaster.

And Kasienka if you could be more specific rather than say "it doesn't work" (how doesn't it work? what happens that makes you think it doesn't work?). i.e. a link to the "non-working video" would be more beneficial.

on some servers the path is required. otherwise it thinks the video(s) r in the root directory of the site. that has been my experience anyway. i know for a fact that on angelfire the path is required.
