He makes it easy for people to think he is arrogant (like Grover did in the beginning, but that is only wwhen you don't know him.
I think Danny is right saying he is "a marshmallow filled with testosterone".
Personally, I think he has his heart in the right place and if you have him as a friend you are lucky.
But I agree with you too. Danny (as well as Catherine) know how to steer him right and make him more human. He can open up to them and feels comfortable around them. As he put it "I never had to pretend with her". He never had to with Danny either.
