Solid episode

That was a solid episode, maybe not as good as previous four bu still entertaining. The story was simple and started with nice premise of a victim being killed during "survival game". Danny was cute as big fan of football and he wasn't as irritating as usual. We got to see Kamekona with his family. Kono's interaction with the security guy was hilarious
And we had some nice insights into football game with the player to gues star. What I didn't like was Steve/ Cat interaction - it was awkward at best and it seems like they have no common interests at all. The writers are doing terrible job now with Steve/Cat relationship. Also I miss Danno/ Grace moments - anybody knows, when Tailor Grubbs will be back?

Yeah, I liked the episode as a whole, found it funny in parts but I really do think they need to work on Steve & Cats relationship.

Don't know what got over me, but my review is HUGE.... Upfront I already apologize but it seems like my thoughts are all over the place, so this might be a little out of order

The beginning was interesting, because it really felt like a military operation. Now that seemed like a very intense and entertaining way of spending time with friends (except for the guy dying, of course).

Kamekona is a real businessman. He is right, there is an event at the city so he increases the price of his products, and the place was full (did you guys see the line?) so quite the entrepreneur.

A lot of McDanno moments in this episode and apart from one part (which I'll comment soon), I really like them, especially Danny going to the hospital with Steve, that's what real friends are for. It was nice seeing Danny defending his Fantasy Football Team, the fact that he is a Peyton Manning fan (and I like that he was such a fanboy, totally adorable).
That cargument about Real Football and Fantasy Football was funny. The discussion between who's the best quarterback and rock band of all times was also very entertaining. I have to agree with Kamekona here, both debates are pointless.

Danny is still terrible with technology, and that scene where he is with his cell and is like "check this out, check this out" and nothing happens so he has to ask Kono to make it happen was super cute.

The case was ok. I have to say that it was not what I was expecting. Based on the promo (kuddos to CBS this time) I was thinking the case was going to be about a murder in the football field or something. I like that I was mistaken, because it was fun to see the team getting all excited and worked up over something that was not case related, except for that part when Arian Foster punched one of the suspects but it was a nice way of adding the player in the SL.
The misdirection of the murder, the twists throughout the case (going from one employee killing him because he felt humiliated to the grifter and then corporate spionage) had a nice pace to it.

The fact that Pat Monahan was guest starring, it was kind of a no brainer to figure out that he was the killer. I mean, why would a guy like that appear only to be the boss of the victim and add no new info to the case?! On a side note, everytime I saw him on my screen I was hoping he would start singing (prefferable Drive By LOL).

That chasing on the escalator was cool, and I have to quote my friend Iby, Steve should leave the escalator shenanigans to Kono LOL. Also, Danny was quite the gentleman asking if that lady was okay.

That Nick the Kid was an interesting character. And he rocked singing "I've Got You Under My Skin". I also liked his Sinatra stories.... it's what we expect from a guy like that

I have to mention Kono talking with that Security guy because that was funny. He was such a geek mentioning the "Unsub" and saying that he sent his applications to HPD. And Kono saying that Arian Foster is even hotter without the pads and helmet was awesome. Love the fact that Kono is such a football fan!

I was so happy to see Lukela back on the job. Good to see that he recovered fast of his gunshot wound (and no need of a kane like Max lol). Even more surprised to see him at the end watching the football game.

I wish Fong had appeared in this episode.... Would've been interesting seeing him going to the game along with Chin and Lukela...

Now I've reached the part that will probably irritate a lot of my friends.... I'm really disappointed with the way McRollins is being dealt this season. The sneak peek had already made me mad, and granted the episode in itself sort of took away that bad impression, but still I have to comment that. First of all, I know that Cath and Steve are in a relationship except it's not a relationship, but they know each other for quite some time, and seriously they had no idea for which team the other rooted for?!
Then there was that peace offering line, and excuse me, but peace offering over what?! Apart from keeping that Doris secret, Cath hasn't done anything other than help out and be there for Steve whenever he needs it. If anybody needed to offer something that was Steve. But I get it, it's probably just an expression or something so let's move on.
Here is the part that really pissed me off. I get that Steve had already made plans with Danny, but would it have hurt him to ask if maybe Cath would want to go watch the game too?! And don't tell me that Danny could feel like the third wheel, because he has been that a LOT before and it has never stopped him.
Cath was so cute being all excited over her tickets, and imagine that, the one person she thought first was Steve. And he just blew her off with a line that sounded a lot like "you're too late, so.... tough". It's not like I wanted him to ditch Danny, but maybe he could do the pre-game or set up something post-game alone with her. Did that happen? A big fat NO is the answer, what he did was to invite her to the gathering thing that he had already schedule with Danny and Kamekona. Am I wrong to think that he could get together with the guys at the game itself and do the pre-game to make it up to her?!
I felt so bad for Cath because it was like Danny said a very awkward moment.
And in the end she did yet another favor, since both Danny and Steve missed the game, she pulled some strings to allow them into the field, and got Danny an autograph football from Peyton. She is a keeper and probably the sweetest person ever.

Now that I got that out of my chest, the part that made the episode really worthy for me was without a doubt the Football Game.
Since Steve and Danny were at the hospital, it was nice of Danny to give away his tickets to Kamekona's cousin and Max. Speaking of him, he is adorkable.... his line saying that he was being ironic was perfect for him!
Well, also loved seeing that Chin and Kono had plans with Lukela.
Of course that I was really hoping that Cath would call Kono because it's about damn time that the girls get some bonding time on screen. And also, I LOVED that Cath's seats where actually inside the field LOL. TBH that was my favorite scene, adding the fact that Danny was all jealous watching on the TV and talking to himself LMAO

The ending was also adorable and not awkward at all.
"If his legs could move as fast as his mouth..." LMAO
Loved seeing Danny/Scott running and making the celebrating jump.

Didn’t expected but It was a lot of fun watching this episode.

Thought the opening was great and I was surprised it was only a game but I was glad that the murder took place there and not on the football game.

Kamekona knows how to sell his shrimps especially when there is a football game in town, was great to see his nephew was helping him out. And of course it was Kamekona who got the tickets for the football game for the boy’s don’t know if anyone notice but Kamekona had 3 tickets I come back to that later in my review.

As for the fans of McDanno, it was their episode I do love their bromance it this one, they had some great scene’s The ending was awesome and it was cute of Cath giving Danny the football.

The best scene for me was Danny watching Catherine and Kono on the monitor in the waiting room I knew Cath would have better seats then Steve/Danny and I love she took Kono with her great some girl bounding time here.

DDK/Chin has been producing a local theater play which will end on March 2nd, which is why we probably have not seen much of him in the episodes.

I also enjoyed seeing Larry Manetti. I actually laughed out loud when he tackled the guy trying to run away from McGarrett and Danno.

The case of the week itself was okay. Lots of twists and turns, from the moment I saw Pat Monahan I knew he was the killer.

Now the bad
I have to say while I enjoyed this episode I was disappointed in Steve the boyfriend and how the writers have written him lately. . Steve is officially the worlds worst boyfriend ever!! Steve treats her like dirt he always puts Danny first Kamekona has 3 tickets any normal boyfriend who have ask his girlfriend to go with him and Danny to the game to they dating for years now Steve would have know Cath was a football fan . What happened to the guy that planned a romantic picnic at sunset on the beach? Or arranged to have his reserved training on the Enterprise to have some extra time with Catherine because he knew that was the kind of Valentine gesture she would like? Catherine was so excited when she showed him the tickets I would have like to see Steve a little more conflicted and Danny offering up the advice for Steve to go with Catherine. Steve is a jerk hope Cath breaks up with Steve and move on then Steve will realize what he let go and took for granted. Yes Steve get ready to be very jealous!!
I was a fan of the bromance, have been from the start of the show, but I think they've been laying it on a little too much lately. Why can’t we have Bromance and Romance on this show.

Steve was always my favorite character but after last night they have ruined him for me

I am getting pretty darn frustrated how they write for Michelle. Why did they make her a regular if they aren´t gonna use her?

For someone who doesn't live in the USA it was hard to follow al the football discussions and name's I've never heard off. So these guys didn't interest me that much.

Well we are off for the next 4 weeks, not too many episodes left only 7 more to go I really hope the writers will fix some storylines

Since I am a HUGH football fan, I rather enjoyed this eppie.

Random Thoughts:

Magnium PI was a favorite of mine, so I was happy to see Larry Manetti playing such a cool part.

I liked seeing shots of actual NFL stars and thought Arian Foster did a good job in his role.

Thought Danny "stalking" Peyton Manning kind of cute.

Wanted to see more of Chin but after reading Lena's post can understand why we haven't seen much of him. Glad he got to go to the game and with Duke too!!

Thought the case was engaging and fairly easy to follow.

Thought Catherine took the perfect person to the game in Kono. She is such a big football fan and it was nice to see them bond.

I can see Danny being a Jets fan, and Catherine rooting for Dallas but how did Steve become a Redskins fan? Was he stationed in DC for awhile?

Sorry you three, but being a Steelers fan, I have to give Kamrkono and his nephew a mental high five!!

I loved Catherine going out of her way to get Danny a signed football by Peyton Manning, What a nice gesture. Noticing Steve?!!!

Now I want to address the elephant in the room: McRollins

Let's face facts: the writing for not only Steve and Catherine but pretty much every other character/SL has been substandard this year. With this in mind I rewatched the Catherine/Danny/Steve scene and decided it wasn't as bad as the first time I watched it. Why? Because of AOL's acting. Alex made me believe that Steve felt bad that Catherine had tickets and he already had plans. In other words, Alex breathed life into the scene fior me anyway, But this when the writing fell flat. Instead of Steve inviting Catherine to tailgate with them, he should have made plans for dinner or something for the two of them to do together. I don't believe however that Steve should have given up his plans with Danny or Danny needed to step aside so Steve and Catherine could use the tickets he seemingly paid for and Kamekono adtained. If Kamekono went to the trouble of getting the tickets, he should use the third one. It would be as rude and wrong for Steve to blow Danny off as it would Steve to blow Catherine off with they had plans. As Lena so wisely stated, there is room for both the bromance and romance if written well.

I still believe in my heart of hearts that to move this relationship forward these two should go their separate ways for awhile. Not permanently but for awhile. As I stated elsewhere, I am a firm believer in "absence makes the heart grow fonder" and I think Steve needs to lose Catherine to appreciate what he has iin her. RIght now he is taking her for granted and using her with no thought to how what he asks of her will effect her career or anything else for that matter. He acts as if they are just friends with benefits and Catherine deserves better.

Very disappointing episode. Not a fan of the McDanno at all and I find even Steve annoys me when he's around Danny.

The whole focus on McDanno has Steve acting like a jerk when it comes to Cath. Danny has to come first in Steve's life irrespective of how this effects other characters and relationships.

It's sad to see how the writers have ruined Steve's character this season. He regresses to childish behaviour around Danny and acts like a clueless boyfriend around Cath. Both relationships are corny and shallow and the only outstanding episode so far was the Chin centric one. There's been no progression of any storyline and no character development, just the same wash, rince and repeat cycle with Steve and Danny.

I stopped watching at the beginning of the season as the show had become so shallow and the characters I loved so disappointing and it seems I was silly to get my hopes up that things might have improved.

I can put up with a lot if I like the characters but I've pretty much lost interest in the characters that get the most screentime.. Would still love to see a Steve centric episode with Danny nowhere in sight and a good Kono centric episode, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Yeah it's sad they have ruined my favorite character Steve in a jerk who act like a teenanger.

You wish will come true we get a Steve centric episode 3.20 before he even joined Five-O so no Danny in sight, he will be back as a Navy SEAL with Joe as his commander.

Also we get a Kono centric episode with the brothers Adam and Michael very soon.

I guess we can all agree that the writting MUST improve. I hope it's not too late though. Maybe this one month break can be used to really retool the lshow and ast episodes. Hawaii 5-0 has all the ingredients to be much more successful than it has been. It has excellent core four cast with great chemistry and they are all real eye-candies as well. It has crazy action stunts, high production values, wonderful Hawaian scenery, humor, bromance, some funny and likeable secondary characters. It has support of Hawaian people.
Unfortunately it is not enough right now as the writting is killing the show - Mr. Leknov has improved some things but he ruined others like Steve's character who is heart of the show. Sindication deal doesn't release show creators from maintainig high quality.

The ratings have been going down again fast as well and I dread to think what wil happen if The Voice premieres strong followed by Revolution. The show will be moved to Friday where it scores 1.5 demo and 7 million viewers tops. Also, the show has not been properly advertised - I read that on Monday oly sitcom commercials are shown and no H50.

CBS monday's nights are well known for their sitcoms/comedy shows.
I think Lena said this before, that it would've been best if H50 had moved to like Tuesday or Wednesday, which have more crime/action shows.

I'm worried about when Revolution comes back.... the ratings now aren't that good, and with yet another show sharing the same time slot, it's going to be a tough competition.

First of all it was a good show. The Corporate Special Forces Fantasy Play Ground is cool. (I know my MW3 playing son would want to try it). But with all the problems of guns around, I hope some don't take it the wrong way. Steve and Danny talking about the team doing it would be fun, but it would be to easy for them. Scott Davis took a shot to the head. Sgt. Duke found the tossed gun real easy, or his HPD associates did. Wasn't he wounded in "Hookman"? He as Chin did recovered pretty quick.
The bromance was heavy this week. Steve and Danny buying sideline scalper tickets from Komekona and Flippa in the food truck. The guys arguing over best quarterback, Payton Manning or Tom Brady. Not bad picks, it came down to who won the most titles. Also as we saw later when Catherine rolled in in her nice Corvette, she is a Cowboys Fan. Danny likes the Jets and Steve the Redskins. If he was in Quantico, he could be a Washington fan. Cath. had her own tickets and invited Steve, but he had already made plans with Danny. Which is a good call. First come first served. Danny being a big Peyton Manning fan was kind of star struck at the stadium. Meeting Arian Foster was cool. He was the ball player who corked a mean Timothy Cross who was with Holly. The girl that had Davises' chip information on a flash drive. Later Neil Redding, Davise's Boss, threw it in the water when Holly/Lana Sullivan was trying to swap it for cash. Redding(Band TRAIN lead singer) was trying to hide the evidence of the chip being faulty. It was a nice twist having her sister Beth ready to send it to the press if something happened. Even though it didn't faze Redding.
Not a lot of Chin Ho or Kono, but a shot of Max was ok. We need to break up Danny and Steve with Kono and Chin more often. Danny giving Kono his phone was cool.
Was cool seeing Larry Manetti, Rick Wright on MagnumI. Even though then he ran the King Ka Maya Maya Lounge, and now he had the Tiki Club. He played crooner Nicky "The Kid" DeMarco. He had some good scenes taking out Issac, when the 5-0 guys took the long way around to catch him. Would be nice to see T.C., Higgins and Magnum. Maybe even use Robin Masters Estate, lol Also TRAIN lead singer Patrick Monahan did a credible job as Scott Davise's boss, Neal Redding. But I'm surprised he would dislocate Steve's shoulder. Maybe someone like Komekona's size or the MMA fighter of a couple weeks ago. But Danny did the right thing giving away his tickets and waiting at hospital for Steve. Was also nice to see everyone at game being friends. Yes even Duke, he is part of the team. But the hospital bit with Steve and Danny shows that they do consider each other friends with that and Steve standing up for Danny on the court case on the custody hearing. So as much as they argue like married folks, they do care. Catherine having a autographed football from Payton Manning was cool. And nothing for her bf Steve. Well he didn't want to go to game with her anyway. Is that a dig back at him? Steve passing to Danny was fun and he running in for the touch down and Steves comment on his quickness. And for not being a football player Danny knew a lot of moves. But he did question Arien Foster on his fumble for Fantasy Football. So Danny is a fan. And as stated in another response, it was good Steve having to go see a Dr. His shoulder should have been sore. So I liked the episode, for me i get on a roll and it is hard to separate Good, Bad and Ugly. For me most all was good. Oh and the one promo, You have 12 men on the field, 11 players and one killer, made me think on the football field and not the Marines game field. But that happens a lot.
