That's true, he really did want to at first and maybe I could actually interpret what you're saying - that he hadn't changed his mind it was more of everyone else trying to change his mind? I like this better and that's probably how the writing meant it as I don't know, I took it as he said he wanted to and I believed it up until he started letting other people try to tell him what he "really" wanted when not only does he know what he wants but he sure the hell wouldn't give a damn what others have to say. At least that's the Damon I understood him as - he often knew what he was doing even if it was bad and if anyone tried to tell him what he should do he would express sarcasm Also, it did not help with knowing certain information behind the scenes with Nian but I will not be opening that can of worms in here

I did but was crying the episode away anyways granted picked the day that I was having a work breakdown to watch the episode so was already having an emotional rollcoaster from taking a personal day from work. So that may have misguided my crying over the finale...BUT I know that's a lie and would have cried anyways

Those that know me know that I appreciation/ship DE but they were/are not my OTP but still did get very emotional during their goodbye, during the whole scene. Well maybe the finale plus the episode before, cause can't remember if it was all one episode or not but Stefan's trying to get him to not pick being human then everything Stefan then Elena too were doing. So to watch him make the decision afterall wanting to be human with her and then for her to get hurt by Kai...okay last two episodes

Oh yes, that is one of the best subtle but huge moments with them, especially Damon. He was taken back by her compassion and empathy for him. She was dating his brother but still was able to remain neutral to the Katherine subject and not take sides
