I'm really hoping that next week's episode turns out with EE on good terms. Elijah has to know that Elena cares about him if she's willing to tell him the truth even though she knows that it's possible for Elijah to tell his siblings. Elena is taking a huge risk to save him by telling him and surely he'll realise that...right?!

^ Exactly. Elena didn't purposely want to hurt or betray him. She wants her family & friends safe and this is what she though of doing first.

You have no idea how much I hope you're right

By telling him the truth and making a choice she's proving how different she is from Katherine and Tatia, so I hope Elijah will take that into consideration once the anger and betrayal wear off.

It has occurred to me

I'm torn over the possibility. On one hand, it'd break my heart completely and I'd be a sobbing mess for months. On the other, it would be a breathtakinly beautiful way of, let's call it validating, validating them as a ship.

I don't want to think about Elijah's death though

If it happen they need to have a goodbye (or something) scene. It's going to be total rip off if they don't after everything that happen.
