Book Description

The bloodthirsty Jit is dead, and against all odds Richard and Kahlan have survived. But a new menace has attacked them in the Dark Lands. Infected with the essence of death itself, robbed of his power as a war wizard, Richard must race against time to uncover and stop the infernal conspiracy assembling itself behind the wall far to the north. His friends and allies are already captives of this fell combination, and Kahlan, also touched by death's power, will die completely if
Richard fails.

Bereft of magic, Richard has only his sword, his wits, his capacity for insight – and an extraordinary companion, the young Samantha, a healer just coming into her powers.

Compelling, fast-moving, and intense, The Third Kingdom is a powerful tale that welcomes new readers to Terry Goodkind's world, while opening up new vistas of worldbuilding for longtime readers of the adventures of Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell.

First Quote

Richard saw the point of a sword blade sticking out from between the man’s shoulder blades. He spun back toward Richard after throwing the woman out the opening, ready to attack. It seemed impossible, but the man looked unaffected by the blade that had impaled him through the chest.

It was then, in the weak light from the fire pit off to the side, that Richard got his first good look at the killer.

Three knives were buried up to their brass cross-guards in the man’s chest. Only the handles were showing. Richard saw, too, the broken end of a sword blade jutting out from the center of the man’s chest. The point of that same blade stuck out from the man’s back.

Richard recognized the knife handles. All three were the style carried by the men of the First File.

He looked from those blades that should have killed the big man, up into his face.

That was when he realized the true horror of the situation, and the reason for the unbearable stench of death.

:yay: Thanks for getting this started Kris, can't wait to discuss with you.

I'm really wondering what it means that Richard and Kahlan are infected with essence of death  What could that be? And wall to the north? :look: I really thought we knew all of the Old and the New World but I guess we don't?

Besides, I can't imagine Richard being robbed of his war wizard powers!

Pickle-weasel! 07-10-2013 08:15 PM

I dont like the sound of richard with no powers. An ddoes the description make it seem like h eis going to be bybhimself, away from kahlan? Cause i dont like that either.

These are suppose to be rk books and we've gotteb barely any memorable rk scens :(

Lauren Helen Graham 07-11-2013 12:05 PM

Ria, I as well think he might be separated from Kahlan in the book :( I really hope I'm wrong but the description says that he's with that woman... :bawl: I don't want him to be with another woman. I really hope the book is good nevertheless because otherwise I'll go mad.

Pickle-weasel! 07-11-2013 01:49 PM

Didn't we get enough of RK being separated in the first series? It makes me really disappointed that he'd do that again. :(

Lauren Helen Graham 07-12-2013 10:14 AM

We don't know yet if it will be that bad... I hope if they are separated it's just for a few pages and not almost the whole book  Otherwise it will kill me!

And who is this Samantha? :pout:

Pickle-weasel! 07-13-2013 07:32 PM

I just don't have a good feeling about it right now, I feel like it's going to be another book of RK separated. :pout:

I don't know, I'm not really worried about it though, that's the one thing that doesn't bother me is other people, cause I know they aren't a real threat to the relationship.

Lauren Helen Graham 07-14-2013 10:00 AM

Me, too tbh... :bawl: I know how mean TG can be to the Richard/Kahlan shippers and although he always brought them back together it was a mess reading the other stuff.

You're right  I at least can't see what could happen to make one of them betray the other...

Pickle-weasel! 07-15-2013 07:00 PM

Yeah, I mean I know they'll get their happy ending, unless they kill one of them (which I don't see happening) but the journey is never easy. Ever. And if so, not even for very long if be. :(

Lauren Helen Graham 07-17-2013 10:54 AM

And the worst is... Whenever they were separated it were the most horrible things to read, the most terrible things they had to go through. :bawl: I just want them to be happy... Maybe in the last book  :pout:

Pickle-weasel! 07-17-2013 07:51 PM

And so boring. Well ok I know that my favorite book has them separated, but still...I at least hope if that is the case, then we still get scenes with Kahlan, maybe with Cara, instead of not having any Kahlan scenes.

Kahlan parts are always my favorite in the books, so hopefully we get a lot of those in the new book.

And more Cara/Ben! I want to see more of them.

Lauren Helen Graham 07-18-2013 10:50 AM

I'm with you! I want to get a lot of Kahlan because she is my favorite character after all! I'm sure we get some stuff of hers...

And since all the others are taken captives I'm sure they would be together and Cara would try to find a way out because it's her job to protect Kahlan. And she takes that task really serious!

Pickle-weasel! 07-18-2013 07:28 PM

Yes Cara never disappoints, she still sees it as her job to protect them, something that I love about her.

I'm trying to think back to the last book, at the end when Richard went off, did they show a lot of Kahlan? I feel like they didn't.

Lauren Helen Graham 07-19-2013 11:13 PM

And hopefully Ben is with her... Otherwise there will be another couple separated :pout: Wouldn't be okay with that.

When Richard went off? Oh damn it, I don't even recall what you're talking about.
