Thanks for the new thread, Beth!
Girls, I received bad new yesterday again. Last Monday my replacement told me she has cancer and this Monday my colleagues tell my that one employee of the township I work for had died at the weekend because of cancer. The woman was such an amazing person and I loved her like hell. I still can't believe it. May so damn sucks, you can't imagine. __________________

Mondays are always so amazing. And this particular Tuesday seems like a fantastically crappy follow-up. I want it to be Thursday, then Friday, because those are my two days at the library this week. Ah, sanctuary.
That really is awful about your co-workers, Kris. It seems that the sad reality is that more and more people are lost to cancer each year. You'd think they might want to get on finding a cure for that, but with as much money as these drug companies make treating it, why would they? It's awful to say but it feels true. People become violently ill and in many cases die all so someone else can line their pockets. And all this time, we thought human beings were emotionally evolved. /rant about nothing that has to do with anything. __________________

Girls, thanks so much for the hugs. It's really unbelievable that every week comes up with another shocking thing that's happened.
And Beth, you're so right. I as well think that there should be a lot more progress in searching for cures for cancer but why should they invest time and money in it when they get I don't know how much money for the treatment? All people and companies always just being interested in money so sucks. What the hell has become out of the world and the people who live in it? What about your day, Beth? Why has it been so crappy? __________________

I have heard that some rounds of chemotherapy can cost upwards of $17,000. That's astronomical. But for the people making a profit off it, it's like a gold mine considering how many people have those kinds of treatements. People's greed always seems to win out in the end, which is sickening to me. It makes me question my faith in humanity all the time.
It was just a long, long day. Then I came home (after starting to prep a room at my mom's she's asked me to paint for her since my dad won't do it), I watched this documentary on Holocaust survivors...don't ask me why. __________________

You know what's really scary... The inhumanity gets worse and worse with every day that passes. Every person keeps just thinking about her-/himself. It's making me sick. I can't believe it. People are complaining about things that they normally should be thankful for. I really don't get it. Life isn't always easy but as long as you're healthy you should live everyday as if it was your last and you definitely should be thankful therefore because there are so many people out there who not even have a chance of a normal life.
Oh, a documentary on Holocaust isn't the best stuff to watch after such a long day. __________________

What is truly sad is that the ambivalence that most people have towards one another can't even touch some of the cruelty and hatred that human beings are capable of. That's what I'm reminded of every time I watch one of those documentaries. Sometimes, I just want to show them to people who run these drug companies and say, "It's a really fine line. Just remember that."

I so understand you. I exactly feel the same... Mankind is getting more crappy with every day that passes.
Besides, how were your weeks, guys? __________________

And I finished the book I was reading, Illusions by Aprilynne Pike, and now I'm slowly going insane because it ended on a cliffhanger and I have to wait a year for the last one. Speaking of books, has anyone here ever read the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books? I'm really excited because I had found out some time ago that she was writing another in the series to take place ten years later. And I just read the description for it. I can't wait! |

I didn't know the author (whose name escapes me presently) was writing another series. That's pretty great.
I'm kind of glad this week is "over." I work at the library for a bit tomorrow but that's not too bad. I'm just worn out. It's super nice outside right now, and I'm laying on my sofa.. That's how unmotivated I am. __________________

It's Ann Brashares. I've actually read all her books she has written. She wrote a book called My Name is Memory that I really enjoyed and heard will have a sequel eventually so I'm hoping to hear more about that as well. But I read the first like 30 pages of the new Sisterhood book today and I can't wait until June
Yes I'm glad it's the weekend. Next week will be good hopefully since it's leading up to my b-day |
