Hi PatBat, I've just started posting here recently too for the same reason as you: I'm not in the main demographic for watching this show (let's just say I'm closer to Abby's age than Clarke's!) and don't have anybody in real life to talk with about the show.

As for your question: It's hard to say because there are so many nameless extras that we've never gotten to know who might have fine qualities. However this show always casts the unnamed characters in such a bad light--they're always making horrible decisions (like voting for Pike) and turning into lynch mobs (going back to stringing people up in season 1). So none of them seem especially deserving of survival. My top ten list of Sky People to save, in ranked order:

1) Clarke (she's the true leader of her people, I believe, with the latest evidence being their use of her list to determine the 100 who live).
2) Raven (smartest, even without the special ALIE-juiced brain)
3) Abby (has retained the most human decency, plus the most medical knowledge)
4) Octavia (despite being a pain in the ass sometimes, she's proven herself a leader and will be needed to hold things together with the 12 groups in the bunker)
5) Jackson (because doctors, people!)
6) Monty (resourceful, loyal and smart; also not given to making horrible decisions)
7) Bellamy (even though he's not the most rational, he has a ton of heart and can inspire people)
8) Miller (because he's young and strong and hasn't done anything especially stupid that I can think of).

And I'm not sure about the last 2 spots. Kane's nice and all but despite being Chancellor honestly doesn't seem to accomplish all that much. Maybe better to give his slot to someone younger. Jaha could be saved if his knowledge is essential to running the bunker's mechanical systems, but he also poses a grave danger (his messiah complex already led him to almost destroy humanity with the whole ALIE situation). Harper's young and could have awesome kids with Monty, but her will to survive is in question. Murphy I still don't fully trust. Maybe there are a couple of cool people among the nameless crowd who should take those last two slots.

I think im only picking Marcus because of loving Desmond in LOST, forgot about Abby which is silly being her and marcus's "whatever you want to call it".

As far as singling people out on age im a bit bias i guess everyone is but im middle aged, so i think that makes me more qualified to talk fairly about younger and older people, maybe at least more so then being really young or really old. So if you say get rid of the geriatrics i get it. But that also really means get rid of older women because older men dont go through menopause. Sure they can get prostate problems and have a harder time with it but arent necessarily infertile, so that would be more like China's one-child policy and being we're not dealing with overpopulation prolly not the greatest idea.

When i was young(er) I was hoping i wouldnt have to deal with the "sex games" later in life. It wasnt something I was sure about though because 1) i didnt want to talk to "old" people about their sex life and 2) there wasnt internet yet to look it up privately. But as you get older you'll find that even 80 year olds still make the time albeit requiring more medicine, hahahah. So point is it becomes somewhat sexist due to men being able to pretty much help (sperm) in producing offspring until death (unless a disease makes them infertile) and women can't (but these days women can use IVF to have a child after menopause, but im assuming this wont be one of those things Abby/Clarke can provide to their female patients). Actually as weird as it seems there's been cases of women using a dead male partners sperm after his death to get pregnant, ZOMBIE BABY!

Okay here it goes;
(I'm taking into account all the events leading up to now, my opinion might change after the finale )

1. Octavia
She won the conclave. If anyone deserves a spot in that bunker it's her, she won it.

2. Bellamy
Has been a leader to his people since the day they arrived on Earth. Of course he hasn't been perfect and has made mistakes, but he always owned up to it and tried to do better after.

3. Raven
Smart as heck, if anything would be wrong with that bunker, she'd be able to fix it.

4. Monty
Though maybe not AS smart as her, smart as heck.

5. Jackson
Has been training with Abby so can be the doctor.

6. Kane
A leader who tries to look at both sides. Like Octavia, who is now leader of OneKru, someone who can bridge the gap between people is needed.

7. Harper
I like her. Though not completely out of it yet (I assume), she overcame depression. She totally deserves to survive.

8. Niylah
A Grounder who likes SkaiKru. Helpful for possibly bridging the gap. And she has knowledge of preparing and preserving food.

9. Indra
We need strong Grounders too. Someone the rest might possibly listen to.

10. Miller
Just cause I needed a #10 and I couldn't bare the thought of not having him on the list.


I deliberately chose only people who are alive. If I could've chosen dead people too, I'd have added:
Lincoln: The first one to really get to know SkaiKru, I'd say he could help bridge the gap, but somehow I think even now most Grounders wouldn't view him as a traitor at core
Nyko: Grounder medical knowledge is useful too.
Roan: Another one who could bridge the gap between SkaiKru and Grounders.
Ilian: I just like Ilian, leave me alone


Reasoning for why I didn't choose some obvious people.
Clarke: Like Bellamy, a leader to her people from the start. And like Bellamy, she comes with faults. But unlike Bellamy, she keeps on defending her bad decisions. At certain times apologizing for them and yes, clearly feeling bad about them; but never really acknowledging that she is wrong. Clarke has made 1 to many bad calls for me and I don't think I could trust her again.
Abby: She chose to give up her spot. And when I try to be reasonable about it; that would make sense. We're talking about the survival of the human race here, younger people should take precedence over older people. So I'd respect her decision to give up her spot even though it'd hurt like heck.
Murphy: I really enjoy watching Murphy. And I like that he's a survivor. But he's a survivor in the 'wrong way', he takes things too far. I want him to live in the show, I would not let him in my bunker if I had any say about it.

We can just pretend we came together, hahaha. I'm glad I'm not totally new and alone, everyone here is really nice so far, I'm glad. I get tired of forums where there is an ego contest and constant horrible immature jokes. Made me quit using forums for awhile.

I'm really glad that you both found this board, BrooklynFan and PatBat and that you enjoy posting here ... I find it such a good/constructive place to discuss the show and the people here are awesome. (might be a bit biased though )

Finally doing my list:

1. Raven - She comes to my mind at once ... she's brilliant, resilient and tough. She can figure anything out and it's the 100, something will inevitably go wrong even in the bunker and most definitely when the five years is over. And Raven is definitely someone you want on your side, when it happens.

2. Monty - Similar reasons to Raven, he can do wonders with that amazing brain of his ... still flabbergasted that he wasn't on Clarke's list because I would want him on my side if it comes to surviving a death wave/just surviving on the Ground, really.

3. Bellamy - He's not a perfect leader by far, but he is capable of rallying/inspiring the masses and that would come in handy when there's dissent in the bunker.

4. Abby - Mainly because of her doctor skills but also because she is clearly trying to be a better person, I think that she deserves to survive even if she doesn't feel that right now. Plus, she is needed to train other people in the bunker to be medically capable too.

5. Clarke - I have so many conflicting thoughts about Clarke, this season especially but I do still think that she's worthy of being on the list. She has saved Skaikru's butts so many times and though I really have issues with some of her rash decisions, she does have some great ideas sometimes ... she's a big picture person and you need someone like that when you're strategising.

6. Octavia - She won the conclave and also is one of the rare few who can bridge the gap between Skaikru/Grounders and keep the peace (hopefully).

7. Kane - Similar reason as Octavia, he has the right mindset/attitude (though again he's not perfect) to bridge that gap between the two main groups in the bunker. And people do listen to him, sometimes.

8. Miller - He's young and strong and though I didn't like that he went along with the majority when it came to the bunker decision, he is one that you can rely on to execute actions once decisions are made.

9. Indra - I have my misgivings with Indra sometimes but it doesn't change the fact that she's loyal to Octavia and is clearly strong willed. So, she is someone that others will listen to and Octavia, in her position right now as One Clan leader, needs that.

10. Jackson - Because they can't just have one doctor around.

Okay, here we go:

1. Bellamy Blake
I know I'm totally biased here, but . . . let's think long-term. After they get out of the bunker, they're going to need to repopulate the earth. There is no one I'd rather repopulate with than Bellamy.

On a serious note, Bellamy is both a soldier and a leader. And like others have said, even though he's not a perfect leader, he has that ability to inspire people, that charisma. I also think he's really become a lot more grounded in season four, and his decision-making has been much more sound. This is somebody who has made mistakes but has learned from them. Physically, emotionally, mentally, he's very capable of handling the situations that arise down there.

2. Raven Reyes
She probably should be first on the list (well, either her or Abby), but I just can't not put Bellamy there. It's like Abby said in this past episode, they need Raven. She's the only one smart enough to fix all the problems that will likely arise over time. Considering how many times she has saved this group's collective ass, she's a necessity.

3. Abby Griffin
Duh. Living in close quarters like that, we're definitely going to need a doctor, and Abby is the most qualified doctor around. I understand that she didn't want to be in the bunker, but this is a situation where need is going to overpower want. She needs to be in there, and she needs to be teaching other doctors her ways.

4. Octavia Blake
She won the conclave. She earned her spot. Regardless of how one feels about her decision-making in the aftermath of her victory, it's pretty clear right now that she's the Skaikru member the grounders respect. She has the opportunity to bridge the gap between the clans. She's needed down there to help keep the peace, though I do think she needs to be careful of not alienating her own people too much, even if she doesn't consider them her people anymore. They still consider her one of theirs.

5. Clarke Griffin
Clarke has made some sketchy decisions this season, and she'd probably be higher on my list if she hadn't seized the bunker underhandedly in the first place. I would worry about the grounder clans' attitudes towards her and treatment of her if they ever find out she was the brains behind the decision to take the bunker for Skaikru. But ultimately, this girl has always been a leader to her people, has risked her life for them, and will continue to do so. Plus, she's a baby doctor, so I think she can be of assistance to her mother.

6. Marcus Kane
I can't even keep track of whether or not he actually has the official Chancellor title, but he sure as hell deserves it. He's suited for the role. I don't know if people will ever listen to him the way they do with Jaha, because Jaha has that cult-like personality that lures some people in. But I think Kane is a rational, reasonable, yet very emotionally in-touch individual who has a vision for peace on the grounder and peace between the clans.

7. Eric Jackson
We need another doctor. We also need Mackson to happen.

8. Monty Green
Sure, maybe he was just an apprentice, but I have full faith in Monty, and I'm pushing Jaha off the list because I'm so confident Monty can fulfill the engineer requirements.

9. Nathan Miller
Because, like I said, we need Mackson to happen. Also, Miller is a soldier like Bellamy, and I think he could get even better under Bellamy's training. Sentimental reasons, too, as I'd like his father to know that Nate is safe.

10. Harper McIntyre? (don't know how to spell it, but I think that's her last name)
This is just a character that I like. She made the decision to live, so I want her to be able to do that. And to tie this back to number one . . . okay, if we're talking about repopulating, I think she and Monty will be more than willing to do that.



Notable exclusions:

Jaha: He has the knowledge, but I just cannot with him anymore.
Murphy: Breaks my heart not to put him on here, but he'll always be about himself (and Emori) rather than the whole group.
Emori: Same as her boyfriend.
Niylah: She's nice, but I don't know what skills she would bring.
Indra: Sorry, I just don't like her.

Awesome idea! I'm on my phone and delaying packing, soooo I'll make it quick.

1. Abby. Doctor. I have a love for the doctors in my life; they've saved my husband's life more than once, and are the reason I have my kids. You need doctors. She has to be number 1.

2. Jackson. See Abby. You need more than one. Plus...Sachin

3. Raven. Ridiculously smart. She solves everything. They wouldn't survive without her.

4. Monty. See Raven.

5. Bellamy. I just like Bellamy. He also inspires people and people look up to him. He can get things done that others can't.

6. Octavia. Like others said, she earned her spot.

7. Kane. They need an adult like Bellamy. Okay, so Bellamy is an adult, I know. But they need someone older like Bellamy. Sometimes older people won't listen to younger people.

8. Indra. I'm not her biggest fan, but dang is she loyal. Octavia is who the grounders look to, and Indra helps her with that.

9. Miller. Just trying to fill spots now.

10. Clarke. I'm not her biggest fan, but when she is around Bellamy or the other delinquents, I like her. She just needs to stop thinking her ideas are better than everyone else's.
