Ooof...the script made me sympathize with Clarke during that scene big time!

I guess it's true that when I first watched the scene, it was more like 50/50, now I really feel for Clarke.

They cut out the line where he said he poisoned his sister, though. Not super crucial or anything.

I just rewatched the episode, because I figured I had to get my own thoughts in order before watching Logan’s reaction and partaking in his livestream.

My opinions on the Bellarke stuff haven’t really changed. I feel the same as I did last night, though I have to say . . . the scene with Bellamy and Madi talking about taking the flame . . . I don’t think we’ve given enough credit to Bob’s acting there. The look on his face, the tears in his eyes . . . I really enjoyed that scene upon rewatching. I got even less of a manipulative vibe than before. He was desperate. I didn’t really catch the first time how he was like, “I hate to put this on you” and “If there was anything else I could do, I would.” He felt horrible.

Eliza’s acting in the scene they gave out the script for was just incredible. I didn’t comment on that enough last night, either, but I feel like that was really a scene we saw through her eyes. (But why didn’t she just kill Octavia? I think that would have eliminated the big threat to Madi. At that point, Madi was going to ascend no matter what.)

I’m a little worried that Clarke seems to be becoming a bit unhinged at the end of the episode. Madi looks like she feels really bad about leaving them behind. I do hope she’ll emphasize to Clarke that nobody forced the flame on her, and that she made her own decision to take it.

It actually looks like they cut some of the script off now that I look at it.

You can see the bottom of additional words at the top of the second page...interesting!

Im gonna go back and read posts, but I have to say, the only way to redeem this for me would be if Madi convinces clarke that she is the true commander now and she can regain the peace, clarke trusts her and goes back to help try to save bellamy. And if not then at least feel some sadness over possibly him dying. then they both need to give one another huge apologies.

I noticed that, too, Tara. Can’t make out what it says, though. Hmm, still not a big fan of the scripts.

So like I said, I rewatched, and don’t kill me or anything, but I kind of liked the episode. I mean, I like the intensity of it. Think a couple scenes ran long, and they would have probably been better off devoting some more of that time to Bellarke. But overall . . . it’s painful, but . . . I get it. It does make sense to me, and my faith is not shaken at all.

Was Clarke chained up in the same exact room where Bellamy was chained in 4x11?

Found this, doesn't look like the same room.

Yeah, similar rooms, but probably not the same. Still, the parallels are strong.

Yes, the parallels are strong. It's been said many times here, but I don't get why people are so mad at Bellamy, when Clarke did the same and even worse things over the course of the first 4 seasons.

People were rightfully pissed and mad at Clarke then. They’re allowed to be pissed and mad at Bellamy, too.

I think it was this thread where I said it, in my long post on the last page, that Bellamy is just THAT CHARACTER. He tends to generate the biggest emotional response, regardless of whether it’s a good one or a bad one.

I just think . . . and this is a personal opinion, and nobody has to agree with me . . . but I just think that if we try to label one of them as right and one of them as wrong, we’re doing a major disservice to ourselves as viewers. I think this episode pretty clearly showed both their sides and gave us reasons to sympathize with both of them, not just one of them. I felt that way when I watched last night, when I woke up this morning, and when I rewatched. I just think right and wrong is a bit too simplistic for the level of complexity we’re dealing with between the two of them. But again, just a personal opinion, and if somebody views one of them as right and the other as wrong, that’s valid. But I just don’t see it that way. I don’t think I ever really have.

re: Madi and the flame, IMO the moment they mentioned how Clarke would be in danger if she didn't take it, that was definite manipulation. They knew she would say yes then.

That said, it wasn't done with malice and they truly thought it would be the best and only way to move forward without war. Either way, crappy situation!

Anyway, I'm not mad at either Clarke or Bellamy. They both, as usual, are doing what they think is right/for the greater good. And as usual, that means alot of crappy stuff has to happen along the way Sigh.

I'm not mad at Bellamy or Clarke either. And frankly, it's getting exhausting seeing people bash one of them every time they're forced into a difficult decision.

The reality is, last episode was the "climax" off all the tension that's been building up between them this season. It had to happen, and now that it has I'm really excited to see how it all builds from here.

Yup. I’m not mad at either one of them, I’m just frustrated with this situation that they’re in and I hope that it truly forces them to talk and communicate with each other. For the love of God, they need to have that brutally honest conversation already. Bellamy telling her that he mainly went ahead with the poisoning plan because she was in danger, Clarke to tell him about the radio conversations, how it felt to be apart (or think that the other is dead for 6 years). It’s all I want at this point.

Also, I really wanted Bellamy to tell Clarke that he was saving his family but that she was his family too, because that would have emphasised that point to Madi that he was also doing it to save Clarke. I feel like that message wasn’t clear. At least not in Bellamy’s conversation with Clarke.

Steph, I’m good. Wasn’t even aware that there was a typhoon alert. We’re quite lucky here, we don’t have any natural disasters here even though almost all the neighbouring countries do.
