Yeah, it’s kind of sad to compare how vibrant and alive the fandom was post-season 4 to how it is right now. I mean, I’m watching season 6, and there are things I’m excited about, but it’s not the same as it was last hiatus.

Tripp, I agree about Raven as well but I feel like last season was also inconsistent in that area ... Raven didn’t seem to have any issues running or show any aspects of her limp last season so that’s either a plot inconsistency or her leg has truly healed. In the latter case, she wouldn’t have much issue on the new planet.

Sonja, it’s true that there’s not many fans of Echo/Becho here but of course, we can still discuss other aspects of the show and characters since you are a fan of other characters too. And people are not obliged to like the same characters/ships in any case, we all like what we like and we don’t have to justify it.

Same, I definitely see the tiredness in the fandom and it saddens me because I remember just how enthusiastic/happy/excited everyone used to be (myself included) and now it’s gone down so much. It really makes me very sad. I feel like the season 6 premiere numbers will be drastically lower than last season.

The fandom I know outside of this board isn't tired at all. They're all looking forward to watch Season 6.
If some Bellarke shippers don't want to watch the show anymore, then they should stop watching it. I'm tired of all the pessimism. And if the show dies because the Bellarke shippers left, then I have to accept it, but I'll support and love the show to the very last episode!

Twitter fans are largely not positive, from what I see.

Some of these fans are hardcore fans though and have campaigned for the show to continue for more seasons for years, so the fact that they're pessimistic about it now should tell the showrunners something. If TPTB is not willing to listen to the valid comments made, then they have to deal with the lower numbers when they come. I'm just sad to see it come to this.

I do hope that people get more enthusiastic closer to the season, hopefully the teaser and trailer will be good enough to get everyone excited again.

Twitter was already a mess when I left, so I doubt it’s any better now.

Sonja, I do understand what you’re saying about being tired of the pessimism. I’ve voiced my feelings on that in other threads this season. I do get that, and honestly, one of the reasons why I left Twitter was because I couldn’t handle the negativity there. With that being said . . . you were a Bellarke shipper once, and I’m sure you can understand why things have been hard on the Bellarke fandom recently. Between the episodes themselves, Jason, other cast members’ comments, and now this . . . it’s just a lot. I choose to remain as positive as I can about season 6, and I’ll be watching, but Sarah is right that there are hardcore, long-time fans who are not watching anymore because they’re so frustrated with the writing and with the show’s relationship with its largest fan base. So I guess what I’m saying is that I understand being tired of pessimism (as I am, too), but I also understand being just tired as a shipper (which I also am).

I hope that the ratings will not suffer too much, as I would like a season 7, particularly if I don’t get Bellarke in season 6. But I do think they will see a decline, and I do think the showrunner and other writers would do well to reflect on the various reasons for that, as fans have raised some valid criticisms for a while now.

It's natural for ratings to decline regardless, especially as a show goes on for this many seasons. That said, it would be nice for viewership to not decline because people are actively upset with stuff. That said, maybe we have no idea and are just basing it on Twitter, which is definitely not representative of all viewership. We also have no idea what numbers Netflix is pulling. So we will have to just wait and see!

I agree that it’s natural to see a decline in ratings over time, the best of shows face it eventually but I feel like the show’s ratings decline (this season) are likely going to be largely because of fans’ unhappiness. Having said that, we will have to wait and see how it all plays out but I don’t think the way Jason has been handling it on social media has helped, to be very honest. Man, I miss Aaron.

I totally agree with the tiredness, from the drama we had in season 3 (season 4 was nicely drama free though at least) and now, this. It’s just a difficult fandom to be in, sometimes.

I don’t like it when former fans mock the people who want to still support the show though. It’s up to fans to watch it or not watch it, it doesn’t help to try to guilt or insult people who are still excited and want to watch season 6.

I miss Aaron, too. Now there was a guy who knew how to interact with all sorts of fans. Great writer, too. He consistently penned some of the best episodes.

Considering we saw a ratings increase last season, if we do see a decline, I think it will be because if fans’ unhappiness, too, Sarah. The fandom really is in its worst state since season 3, and it’s making me long for the season 4 days.

Anyway, any other news to report?
