The 100 - Board Customization

Hi everyone ,

The Fan Forum Graphics Team is in the process of (re)customizing message boards and now it's your turn!

If you have any picture or color suggestions please post them in this thread. Don't post (hotlink) the pictures, links to them are fine. Make sure that the pictures are of as high quality as possible and that the top of the head of the person in the picture isn't cropped off. We also like to use photoshoot images when possible, preferably individual pictures of each cast member. When suggesting colours please keep in mind that some colors will work better than others. The Team usually tries to avoid really vibrant and dark colours because we have found in the past that they are hard to look at for long periods of time. If you would like some help coming up with colour combinations we recommend checking out the design seeds website.

Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions for this as you are the ones who will be posting on the board and we hope to make as many people happy with the finished result as possible. It does not matter if you are a board moderator, regular poster, or casual poster here. If you have a suggestion, please share it here with us .

Your suggestions for possible pictures and colors will be taken into serious consideration, but in the interest of seeing every board receive the best customized look possible the final decision concerning how this board will be customized will be made by the members of the Graphics Team. This is because we want to make sure that the selected graphic and colours fit into the overall design scheme that we've established for Fan Forum.

For a full explanation of the message board customization process, see this thread. If you have any questions, please feel free to send Rae or Mel a PM or ask the Team on the message board customization thread.

Please leave this topped until a week or so after the board has been (re)customized.

Note: It usually takes less than two weeks for us to finish making the new banner and the sooner we know what you want, the more we can work on it (though it can take a few months or so to set it up with the new colours on the board), so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible.

When the Team have made and voted on a winning graphic I will close this thread until the graphic and colors get put up. It will then be re-opened so that you can share your thoughts about it.

Here are my opinions:

Colours: this show is dark, so pretty colours should be a no-no. When I think of this show, I think of blood, dirt and technology. So reds, blacks and greys. I know you don't do dark backgrounds anymore, but I like how the Teen Wolf board hasthe black title-thingers. Oh no wait, that totally sounds like Josie's board. Ok maybe some green, since they're been stuck in the woods!

Banner: not sure how many characters you can fit, on my board you fit 9. The main characters that have to be on the banner are Clarke, Bellamy, Jaha, Abby, Kane...and honestly it would suck without Octavia, Raven and Lincoln. Ugh but then we can't just ignore Monty or Murphy. Oh no, this is too stressful!! Ahhhh

It would be amazing if it was customized by the time season 3 premieres next year

I'm just going to be quiet now and let Josie and Amy answer, and go to bed.

We encourage everyone to voice an opinion, not just the moderators of the boards. I would recommend no more than fifteen characters in the graphic; just keep in mind that the more characters you want included the smaller they will be.

Usually we try to avoid black, red, and dark colours as they can hurt the eyes. That does not mean that it is not doable, I just would like you all to keep that in mind. It may not be exactly as you imagine if we go with those colours as we would need to find the right shades and combinations that would not hurt the eyes. A blood red should not be too bad on the eyes and there are exceptions (like Teen Wolf) where we have used black in the colour scheme.

Thanks for posting this, I'm so happy it's now under the process of getting customized.

If it's max 15 characters for a banner, than that's great because we should be able to fit all the main cast in there!

That does not bother me

. If you are a poster here then your opinion matters.

Fifteen is just what I recommend, we have not come up with an actual limit. We would prefer closer to the eight like your board has

. The ten you listed before sounds like a nice amount.

I had a little look around at some colour schemes, are any of these similar to what you were thinking?
Berry Hues (minus the purple).
Cactus tones (with shades of red from one of the other colours instead of the pinks).
Peppered Palette
Clean Tones
Summer Spark
Succulent Hues

I like the color ideas especially the Cactus Tones palette. Would the pinks be replaced with a darker red like the deep red from the Peppered Palette? It's a red that would probably be easier on the eyes and keep with the dark tones of the show.

That would be entirely up to you. I have watched three episodes of the show so know very little about it and was just trying to find examples based on the idea of one poster. You are the ones who will be posting here and having to look at the colours and know what is best for your show and board. You are more than welcome to have a look around at other possibilities and throw around other colour combinations. Those were just what I found to start things off and help you out. If you like them then that is good and saves you looking for others but I do encourage you to have a look around and think about it as you may find something which fits the board and show and mood you want here better

And what about Murphy? As he seems to gain more and more importance.

For the shade of colors, I'd do more green /Brown since the show has now a lot going on with the forest, what do you guys think?

I would say nope to Finn (sorry, buddy) and nope to Lexa. That's my opinion, though! We don't know if she's coming back and she was really only in half of season two. Granted, she was a massive part of season two

What do other people think?

Murphy has to be in the banner, IMO!

I would feel weird removing any of those people, tbh. It sucks that Murphy didn't get a photo for season 2, cause he's not a regular until season 3. Maybe there's a similar one out there that could be made to look like the other people's photos.

btw Rae, please keep watching, the first few episodes are meh but it gets amazing after!

I love the cactus tones, minus the top two colours as mentioned. Maybe a reddish colour more along the lines of the one in here:

I just had a vision of everyone's serious photos, and then at the end of the banner, Murphy chomping on some crackers with cracker crumbs spraying everywhere.

I really like Color Escape. As it is or using the reds to go with Cactus Tones. I also liked Cactus Tones paired with the reds from the Peppered Palette as Amy mentioned.

I also like
Edible Hues Though admittedly this one may just be due to the name.

Foggy Hues Except this one doesn't really have any reds. But there are some good reds in this next one.
A Door Red

Okay I need to stop there. I could waste so much time looking through all those. I'm suddenly finding myself wishing there was a room to redecorate in my house and that is about the last thing I need right now.

As for characters...I'd say no to Finn but would be okay with it if others wanted him. Though he's dead now he was very important while alive. And he's death played a significant role in story progression. His presence was definitely still felt. And may even still be for a while.

I'd also say no to Lexa. But I suppose if others want her I won't through a fit.

Otherwise I agree with the list already mentioned.
