Because they both had the idea to show up at Lux's hearing. Because they both offered to co-sign for her. Because they're still legally her parents. Because Lux was released into their temporary joint-custody. Because she has his eyes. Something about him she always really liked. Because "don't you people learn?" Because they threw her a sweet sixteen birthday party! Because they're not 'these people', they're her family. Because for the first time, she feels like somebody WANTS her. Because he doesn't want to walk away from them. Because they can give her the one thing that no one else ever has: love. __________________

Thanks for the new thread!I'll try to update that list of reasons for you! When you look back on the show, it's such a sweet family story... Cate having a crush on the quarterback, Cate and her crush doing it in the minivan, Cate having her crush's baby, years later the daughter finding her parents, the parents reuniting, the parents taking her back and raising her, the parents rekindling the flame and falling in love, the parents finally becoming official parents to their daughter. And they lived happily ever after. Lol, ok we don't know yet if they're gonna end up as the perfect family, all 3 of them - but there's not doubt about it!  It still breaks my heart that Lux thought her idea of the 3 of them becoming one united family was a fantasy.  __________________

Their family love story is pretty great. There's no doubt in my mind they'll end up that way, either. It still hurts me that Lux thought that, too. Lux losing faith in her dad, and in her dream of her parents being together and the three of them being a family in the traditional sense...well, that was knife to the heart. And all of the fantasy/reality stuff was just so irritating. I'll just say that the season 1 finale pretty much wrecked me. Seriously - I actually LOST SLEEP over a TV show! I know it sounds pathetic, but that's when I knew that this show was special. I knew if I was that upset and heartbroken, then I must be invested. The show had made me truely CARE about these people. That's rare.__________________
