Is anyone giving up anything for lent?

I was thinking of giving up pop/soda/carbonated beverages (whatever your country calls it). I drink far too much of it (1-3 cans a day) and right now, I think I could do it. It's not a definite yet, but I'm kinda wanting to. This requires thought.

That's a good one, giving up fizzy drinks! Plus i think it's quite doable, will power!!!

Yeah, i'm giving up something, like I don't do it alot, but my friend wanted to give up sex because she keeps hooking up with her ex and knows she shouldn't, so I'm joining her for moral support. It'll be hard when one of my friends comes back and we hang out, but still doable.

I used to always give up something....the worst one was chocolate--only did that once!

(What was I thinking?) I've done soda before, although sometimes I did have cravings for that carbonation feeling in my throat (that probably makes no sense!). Are you scared about caffeine withdrawal or anything though, if you have up to 3 cans a day?

Not to sound depressing or anything, but I stopped the whole "giving things up" thing and anything related to church when my dad died 7 yrs ago. He was way too young, and all my praying didn't help any, or so I felt.

HOW could you give up chocolate? I wouldn't even attempt it, I know I'd fail completely. I need chocolate in my life

That's totally understandable, you look to your faith in a time of need and when it doesn't deliver, it doesn't feel right, does it.

My family jokes that I get the shakes after being without coke for 24 hours.

I know! The day it happened I started complaining about our new 3 inches of snow, then I go online and my snow isn't so much of a big deal. It's destroyed over there!

I know right. I was bitching about the weather being fickle and not Spring worthy, but at least our country is in one piece. The before and after pictures were horrible, it's completely ruined, so many people have died and it's just horrible.

It is really sad, so much happening over there. Not "just" an earthquake, or "just" a tsunami, but both, and a potential nuclear meltdown. I feel so bad for those people. It will take a decade for that area to recover. It really makes you put things in perspective. The footage on TV is amazing and horrifying at the same time.
