This is the thread for appreciation of the friendship between Phoebe and Joey ... and as a potential couple. They play off of each other very well, it's always interesting to watch.

1. Because sometimes they get together to talk about the rest of the Friends.
2. Because Phoebe kissed Joey when his heart was broken by Ursula.
3. Because Joey proposed to her when he thought she was pregnant.
4. Because Joey showed Phoebe what it felt like to be *really* kissed.
5. Because he gave her the "perfect" kiss.
6. Because they understand each other.
7. Because they were supposed to get together as their plan
8. Because Joey was 1/16th Portuguese, and Phoebe wanted to meet Portuguese people
9. Because they tried to set Rachel and Ross up as a team

I know it was there from the previous thread OP so for a long time but I think we should add "friendship" before "a potential couple" since this is what they mainly were through the show, I mean just so it's clear it's about them as close friends too ;)

So what should we talk about? Did anyone ever think they would actually be a couple?

I liked the idea of them as a couple, they always seemed to be on the same wavelength and as the title says, they had a special bond, but once they brought Mike into the show I shipped Phoebe with Mike and just wanted Joey/Phoebe to be friends. Personally I think it would have been rather strange to have had them all paired up with each other come the end of the show, and once they started to explore Joey/Rachel I think it would have been difficult to then make Joey/Phoebe a couple.

I love Phoebe/Mike, but there are certain episodes that make me think Phoebe/Joey could've been cute, like the one where he dated Ursula & she went to break up with him officially as Ursula. The way he looked back and knew it was her after he kissed her, and she looked so flustered sitting on the couch. Or the perfect kiss on her birthday episode..they definitely could've been great.

I think if they just threw them together then yeah, it would have been weird. But to me it seems like we got at least seven seasons of build up so if they had explored them in S8 (instead of the Joey falling in love with Rachel) SL I think it would have worked out great in the end.
