Friends: Mistakes and Goofs

Ok so everyone post any mistakes they've noticed that occured in friends, or jokes that have been made more than once or things that just dont make sence

For example

Ross' birthday changes several times during the show. For example, it goes from December in the first episodes to October 18th in the later episodes.

When Phoebe's boyfriend David got the job in Minsk, they said that Minsk is in Russia. Minsk is the capital city of Belarus, which is not the part of Russia.

in one episode Monica says how her brother Ross never told her anything about his sex life or when he lost her virginity, but in the episode before, he says how he told everyone, including his sister, when he lost his virginity for the first time to Carol.

In an early episode, it is revealed that the first (and at the time, only) person Ross ever slept with was his first wife Carol. However, several years into the show, there is an episode in which Chandler says that Ross slept with the woman who cleaned their dorm building while they were in college. This would had to have been either while Ross was with Carol or before he met; in either case, Carol would not have been the first/only woman he slept with.

In the first season Phoebe has a friend named Abby who shaves her head. However, this friend has a small part in the third season as Ross' girlfriend and her name is Bonnie. So either Phoebe has 2 friends who shave their head or the writers made little mistake here.

Rachel's birthday: in one episode she says she was born on May the 5th (Taurus) but later, in another episode, when a policeman asks her driving license, he looks at her birth date and remarks that she is an Aquarius (January/February).

The joke "im wearing 2 belts" is used twice, one where joey if filming the war film and once where joey and chandler are sitting on the couch in central perk.

Its weird the relationship between chandler and monica like chandler wants to do it on the balcony but not in the toilet, monica said chandler wouldnt even do it in a public bathroom yet she said she wouldnt do it in public or even when a dear is watching. If you watch their relationship theres alot of weird things like that.

In season 9, Phoebe says that's she's never had a long term relationship - not even a relationship that's lasted longer than a month. Also that she'd never lived with a boyfriend before. But in season 5 she moved in with Gary (granted, not for that long). And if the span between most episodes is a week, then she also dated him for 5-6 weeks

In 'TOW Mrs.Bing' (S1), Joey says that it's okay to kiss a friend's sister, but still he gets mad when Chandler kisses his sister in season 3. (Although this doesn't necessarily make it a mistake, since maybe Joey just doesn't apply this rule when it comes to his own family)

In 'TOW All the Thanksgivings' (S5) a flashback is shown of 1992 including Joey, Phoebe, Monica and Chandler. Only, in 'TOW the Flashback' (S3), Joey doesn't meet and move in with Chandler until 1993.

In 'TOW Ross Meets Elizabeth's Dad' Rachel says that she and Ross were married way longer than Ross and Emily. But in the fifth season New Year's-episode, it is mentioned that Ross's divorce with Emily isn't final yet, whereas Ross's marriage to Rachel ended 5 episodes before that season's New Year's-episode (that for that matter even took place a few weeks before New Year's). And since Chandler and Monica's 'hook-up' anniversary is the date before Ross and Emily's wedding (making their Vegas trip take place almost exactly the same date as the 'anniversary' of Ross's second wedding)

In 'TOW Everybody Finds Out' Phoebe states that she and Chandler are about to kiss eachother for the first time - but they kissed twice just 12 episodes before!

And a Goof:
In 'TOA Ross says Rachel', the buildings in the window behind Phoebe sway - revealing the fact that it's just a poster

Was there some discrepancy with their ages, too?

Well yeah.
In late season 1, Monica says she's 26. But she doesn't turn 30 until season 6/season 7 (we see a flashback to her 30th birthday in season 7, which really should've taken place in season 7 since Rachel and Monica should be the same age. But even if Monica is one year older, all the information we've gotten wouldn't match).

Joey says at some point in season 1 that he is 25. But in season 2 he's suddenly 28. In season 4 he's 29, and in late season 6 he's 32, and in early season 7 he's 31. After this it's more consistant, with him being 32 in early season 8

In the pilot, Ross's 26. In seasons 3,4 and 5 Ross describes himself as 29. But in the last episode of the 4th season, Monica says he's 30 (though she could be rounding up). In season 7 he's 31. In the 10th season, it's revealed that Ross and Chandler graduated college in 1991

In the first half of the 3rd season, Chandler claims that Rachel is 28. However, Rachel says she's 28 15 months later in season 4. This is consistent with her turning 29 in season 5. But she doesn't turn 30 until the latter part of season 7.

(In season 4 Chandler is stated to be 29. Other than that it isn't really said how old he is (I think), but we do know that he's younger than Joey (but presumably with just a few months)
Phoebe's real age is revealed to be 31 in season 7, although this in a flashback. According to wikipedia, she's born in early 1967, though where this information is from, I don't know.)

Realized something else!

In Season 6's 'TOW Rachel's Sister' Monica says that she isn't sick because getting sick is for pansies, and hasn't been sick in over three years.
But little more than 2 years earlier (in season 4) there was a whole plot around Phoebe trying to get back the cold Monica 'stole' from her. And Monica doesn't at this point show any (abnormal) distain for being sick.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S Inconsistencies: Because we can't help but notice

-Throughout the series, Ross mentions 3 different dates for his birthday

-In season 9 Ross tells Mike that Phoebe never had a serious relationship; but in season 5 she got pretty serious with Gary, so much that she even moved in with him.

-Monica and Chandler got married in May which means Emma would have been born in the winter; but at 9 months pregnant, Rachel said it was 100 degrees outside.

The one about Ross's birthday was obvious.

Let's see what else I can find.

user4091989, I moved your thread here because like you see there already was a thread about this subject

Also, when you want to open a new thread it would be easier if before you do it you could please ask us (me and Vicky) about it in the Intro/Q&A thread (or PM us), you know just so we can make sure a thread about it doesn't already exist or that what you want to discuss wouldn't already fit in another thread Thanks

Didnt meant to repost a thread! But anyway I did come up with a few more

- In season 1 Ursula says that she does not drink, but in season 8 she is eager to get drunk at the Halloween party

- When Chandler is showing the group the engagement ring he picked out for Monica, in 2 different episodes, Ross makes a comment and someone responds "You should know you bought like a million of them". The first time it's Phoebe the second time Rachel

Nice, I didn't realize the first one was a discrepancy.

Not really a discrepancy, I just didn't realize there was already a thread with the same topic

- Barry's last name changes from Finkle to Farber

- The actresses who play Carol and Mindy Change between episodes

- In the pilot episode the numbers on the apartments are 4 and 5 instead of 19 and 20

- The name "Kate Miller" is used multiple times in the series. (but it is a pretty common name so I guess we could let this one go)

The One with the Dozen Lasagnas (season 1)

At the end when Phoebe and Monica are sitting at the table eating the meat lasagna, Phoebe would not eat this as she is a vegetarian.

In some episodes, the Gellars say that Ross is the favorite because he was a "medical marvel" meaning they thought that Judy couldn't have kids; but in other episodes they imply that Ross was an accident and they got marred because Judy was pregnant with him.
