Why did the show forget that Monica's mother was barren?
 

I just rewatched the series over the past couple weeks and I noticed that when Monica finds out that her uterus is an "inhospitable environment," the show doesn't even attempt to have her and Chandler conceive through normal means. Why do you think the show didn't bring up that Monica's mom also thought she was barren for a long time?

That could have been a good story and it would have added even more heart to the 10th season, which was already emotional due to the actors knowing that it was their last one. I realize that the writers probably thought about that at some point, especially since the issue was mentioned somewhat recently, in season 7 when Monica gets the Porsche from her dad. Monica and Ross discuss it, and at the end when Monica gets the Porsche, Ross yelled, "I'm a medical marvel!"

Well, I think like you said it might have been a bit about his ego, that he was disappointed he wasn't her first choice (even just for sex) and it might also have changed the way he saw their first time together, but I also think he could have been pretty upset about it because if Joey had actually been there that night then may be Chandler and Monica would never have gotten together. Not saying she would have been with Joey either of course but because even though their supposed to be "one night stand" turn out to be much more, their relationship still started that way, because of that night, so who knows what might have happened and if they would have ever been together if Monica didn't found Chandler that night instead of Joey. Of course they were engaged and everything when Chandler found out about this so it really didn't change anything at the end for them but I could get that may be that was one of the reason why he was upset at first when she told him about that.
