I really enjoyed this episode.

The Sirens are finally dead Goodbye and good riddance to Sybil

Caroline/Bonnie I always love these two

Caroline/Liz I'm so happy we got one final bit of 'interaction'

Bonnie/Grams Love them

Bonnie/Damon I missed them So glad they finally acknowledged they're bffs. This season has sucked for them.

Caroline/Stefan I feel so bad laughing at Stefan being such a dick but it's funny Hopefully we can get him back ASAP.

Damon/Stefan Well it was pretty clear that Damon still harboured a bit of resentment since they brought it up a couple times this season so lets hope that's the last of it. Last season and this should finally give Defan proper closure so no need for sacrifices from Stefan anymore

I mean come on, that whole speech Damon gave to Stefan was a goddamn joke. I feel like I have been watching an entirely different show. Like, be serious Vampire Dairies, Stefan is not the brother that needs forgiveness here. Not to say that Stefan doesn't need other people's forgiveness, but Damon's?? Yeah, that would be a big fat no.

Maybe a tiny part of him is bitter but I think that they just needed to make him say it out loud because Stefan might think so. Stefan has made lots of sacrifices for Damon. From becoming a Ripper in S2 and a bunch of stuff in S7. And so now that Stefan knows for a fact he owes Damon nothing we might not have to deal with stupid sacrifices again. I can barely stand Defan anymore so this makes me glad. Because if Stefan makes one more sacrifice for Damon because of guilt of turning him I'll be x infinity. If another sacrifice needs to be made Damon should do it.

Maybe not, but it's very obvious what the writers think here, and it is not a true representation. It just sucks. I haven't been this mad about an episode of TVD's in a long time and that's mostly because I know what this show is like, and I just can't be bothered to get annoyed by it anymore, but that whole Damon/Stefan scene was ridiculous. I couldn't even enjoy the 'I love you' because the rest of it made me want to screech like a banshee

Back in 8x04 Sybil said Damon is still bitter and I was furious. I couldn't stop ranting about it. So I knew it would be addressed so I wasn't mad today. As for Defan when they're on screen together I zone out so I only processed half of that speech They make me feel nothing and I didn't care for the ILY. S7 really ruined them for me. I only tolerate this relationship because I want Stefan to be good with Damon because it will make him happy.

Matt/his father Forgot to mention this. So Matt couldn't just tell his father to knock him out or tie him up? He had to tell him to kill him. And he almost did it. WTF.

Oh dear lord was I the only one on board with Stefan's plan to burn them all?

Damon - Dude literally went from "I own being a bad guy" to "I forgive you Stefan for forcing me to be a bad guy" . I'm all for Defan moving on with everything. It would have been a good start and nice to see Damon forgive Stefan for making him turn when he was set to die without Katherine. However I am not ok with Damon basically pushing all his terrible, murderous actions off onto Stefan and heroically absolving him of it . Stefan is guilty of quite a lot of things, but he is not responsible for Damon's actions and I hate that the writers implied that. Bullshiit.

Stefan - Definitely loving him being an ahole. It reminds more of Silas than RipperStefan of s3 tbh. He seems to have more control, but also just a sassy jerk. Love it. I was down for MF and everyone in it burning in hell fire. Best moment though was when Stefan popped into Damon's mind and made a sarcastic remark at him being so original considering I felt the same with seeing The Grill and the graveyard and the boarding house .

Caroline - I'm so beyond disgusted at the writers for torturing Caroline into forgiving Damon for all the abuse and destruction he's cause herself and her loved ones. Seriously disturbing that they thought having "Liz" torture Caroline and her forgiving Damon because he felt the same amount of loss at losing Liz as Caroline did () was a good idea. Bleh. On another note I liked her speech to Stefan at the end where she accepted that Stefan loved Damon more than her and that she loves Stefan enough to help him anyway even if they don't end up together. It was a nice break from her blaming Stefan for everything when in fact he's the reason her kids aren't working for the devil.

Bonnie - Nice moment with her and Damon reconciling. I don't really know what happened between them since I didn't watch last season, but I think I got the gist of it and she was upset he left her. I hope they continue to be buddies because I liked their weird friendship in s6 and have been kind of annoyed that Bonnie has been so isolated from her friends this season (despite loving her and Enzo together). Wondering what Bonnie is thinking about regarding the cure now. Is she taking it from a sleeping Elena or is she going to travel to a different prison world to get it?

Matt - Ugh. I was feeling the struggle for him the whole episode and was proud that he was standing up for himself and not letting Caroline or anyone sway him on wanting Damon to pay for everything, but the moment he and Damon talked and he was all "maybe someday we could be chill if you keep being a good person" made me remember why I just cannot with him. He's the dumbest that has ever dared to dumb. Damon murdered your sister and best friend, but hey all's well that ends well .

Evil Mermaids/Devil - About freaking time they're gone. Ugh so annoying. I hope the devil lives up to his title cause so far I've been pretty underwhelmed by him and his backstory.

The Ghosts of Damon's Past:

Vicki was a lame addition. I would have felt more had Damon not already blamed Katherine for her death and Matt agreed .

Dude at the boarding house I have no idea what significance he had on Damon so I think that really was another lame addition.

Liz was nice to see again even if she was anti vampire crazy lady. Makes sense she was there because she was close to Damon, but this really should have been more about all the guilt Damon felt and the people he hurt because of his actions.

Grams being there was smart. Her death was a result of Damon being a selfish prick in s1, but I feel like there should have been more to do with her than there really was.

Tyler...poor, poor Tyler again not getting anyone who gives a damn that he was murdered. He should have had a bigger role in Damon's mind tbh.

People that should have been there: Lexi, Elena (even if just in random flashes or mentions), his mother since I guess he never forgave her when she died last season , Uncle Zach and his family (maybe even Sarah Salvatore despite my not caring), Rose....so many missed opportunities to really make Damon seem like the terrible things he had done and the people he lost affected him even if he didn't show it. Instead we get him blaming it all on Stefan and then forgiving him...again, bullshiit.

They dedicated a whole episode to him forgiving his mom last season. It was a pretty nice scene when he finally did.

For different reasons I'm afraid, but I was on board completely if it counts Two sirens + Matt/his daddy + repetitive SLs in one episode? Shoot me now and unleash hell, at least that'd make this barable


Found the episode boring AF, I can save only 3-4 things, namely:
1)Daroline, like to see Caroline active in saving him and her words about how she hated him and then she forgave him, I loved the connection with Liz, very emotional scene, like the funeral one in season 6

2)We saw Sheriff Forbes and that alone is a for me bc I miss her very much and it's always a pleasure to see her Beside her torturing Caroline, not cool at all

3)they got rid of Violet soon and quickly, I couldn't have stood wasting of screen for another pointless character for longer

4)scene finale, THE SIRENS ARE GONEEEEEEEEE!!!!

5)Damon saved the town and the day:

And I loved it! Laughed so much when he joked that Matt ringing the bell with his head hopefully didn't count

6)Final Steroline scene, it has been a long since the last time these two gave me feelings, and Caroline telling him she's not going to give up on him was one, love it



The rest is pretty much garbage, 8 years and writers still think people give a single damn about Vicky Donovan?!? Or how she died?!? Or to have her back?!?!? Seriously?!?! Never been so happy Damon (&Stefan) killed her back in s1, can't imagine 8 years with two Donovans to have to stand Same with Grams, thanks but no thanks, I find her annoying as hell even as an hallucination, must be her lineage Next time bring back Jenna instead, thank very much

The sirens bickering which one of them is bad the most? Wow, what an interesting thing... thank god they're gone, IMA I'm surprised, didn't see that coming A bit annoyed Elena couldn't have the chance to kick Sybil's ass, but oh well...

Donovan's honorable job is to ring a bell? Speaks volumes of their family I guess Hope the "blaming you" monotony is over for good, I can't stand another episode with Matt complaining of his bad luck Is the father gone for good with the bell?

Bonnie can start searching for her own cure on e-bay, the current one is booked for good, don't even try to steal it, it belongs to Delena and they waited enough already!

Poor Tyler, mistreated until the very end, couldn't they just leave him alone and never bring him back, they keep diminishing his character over and over again

I see the writers are determinate to keep Defan bull**** until the very end. Just great, thank god they wanted the bros to be important as a relationship again Why they keep bringing back this "forgiving" thing again and again, it was solved ages ago, it only spreads hate around all over again, who the **** cares at this point?!?
Damon still blaming Stefan to have turned him is pointless, he's the guy who said that you can be bad with a purpose, who in 2x22 admitted he made his own choices, who changed from the one he was in his own way, we already covered that part, this "guilt on you" thing makes no sense
Stefan still pretending he is all good and it's always someone else fault and not his own is quite ridicolous at this point (not to mention schizophrenic, he has 3-4 versions for everything he did, I can't even get what's his truth anymore? ), him giving lessons on how people deal with guilt even more, he should feel lucky everyone gave him free-pass all the times he screwed up


I was hoping more from this episode, the whole episode was pointless and repetitive, but if they had to do it at any costs at least they could have done it better

Omg.

I don't think she's trying to steal the cure though. She probably thinks that Enzo can suck it out of Elena and then in 60 years time she'll die and Damon will suck it out of Enzo so he's human when Elena wakes up.

Of course there's the risk that she'd die sooner and Enzo will run for the hills not being ready to die. Maybe they should compel him not to run. And if Enzo dies before Bonnie that would destroy the cure? I remember when Amara was dying and I was wondering if they could get Elena to drink the cure quickly. I know, that's morbid This is TVD. You know they don't think of all the tiny details. But I doubt Enzo is taking it.
