Debate Thread: A place to discuss controversial topics and storylines
As we wait wait for S2, we need something to discuss. But before we do so, I just say to point out few pointers for this thread.
1.) Respect others opinions, take opposing comments with a grain of salt. 2.) NO bashing of actors and other posters. 3.) You are always welcome to go back to a topic that has previously been discussed and tell us your opinion. 4.) No shipper debates will be allowed. TOPIC: What do you think of Bonnie's reaction to all things Vampire-related? Is she being reasonable or self-righteous? __________________

It has the power to take over everything.
Hows about.... Anna's death? Bonnie's new inner strength (please no Damon vs Bonnie arguments though as has been done to death) Katherine returning too soon? __________________

I'm not angry at them returning Katherine too soon and I thought the shock value and scene alone was fantastic but I'm kind of like... where now? I mean we only got Isobel last week so I thought they were going to hold off on Katherine. It seems so integral that I thought that they would milk it longer. Elena and Katherine seeing each other for the first time is huge and I don't think I'm ready for it yet, especially if it'll just be in a throwaway scene 10 seconds into the S2 premiere. __________________

It was a perfect cliffhanger for her to return, yes, but I think it's too early to deal with her, yet. This Elena/Katherine thing is one very interesting point of the show, and they shouldn't really indulge in it, yet.
Maybe she can just come back for a little while but nobody really "catches" her. __________________

I kinda hope that she disappears quickly again after is. Like, pop up, scare the **** out of everybody and then not show up again for a long time. I definitely don't want them to take her down and defeat her till earliest the season 2 finale.
I would like it if it was only an intermezzo and then most of season 2 is about the werewolves with Katherine not showing up again (outside of flashbacks) till near the end of the season. What would be really cool though if she was gone but they sort of retrace her steps, try to figure out what her plans are/were, who her allies are and what she's been up to. This would also be a good way to introduce flashbacks so Nina can keep playing both Katherine and Elena. I do want Katherine to eventually get a showdown with each of Stefan, Damon and Elena, but I think they should draw it out rather than have it happen too quickly. I think Katherine is a great big bad which is why I think it's important to (1) not kill her to soon and (2) use her in small and scary doses |

I don't want her killed at all but I realise it's a given at some point. Still though I think that they should hold off on it for as long as possible. Also, I don't think I want her humanised yet. I get that Kevin likes to give his villains some sort of backstory so that we understand them but I like to enjoy Katherine for the evil wench she is. I don't really want to hear some tragic backstory that made her the monster she is today. I just want to have a villain . I'm already a little disappointed at the extent to which they woobified Damon so I don't want to see her go down that path too. __________________
