I think Elena was mentioned more times in this episode than in all previous 20 episodes combined.

Saw that, so glad to get so many mentions of her last night... and her silhouette, OMG OMG OMG, I miss her so much that even just her silhouette makes me emotional, and in her house!!!!

Didn't fans spot Nina in Atlanta a couple of months ago, which sparked rumors that Elena was returning for the finale? Now we know why she was there.

“In this particular case, she came in and did the ADR, [short for automated dialogue replacement],” executive producer Julie Plec tells TVLine. “I reached out and said, ‘We can either cobble it together from a bunch of episodes, or you can come in and see everybody and do ADR. She chose to do it in person, which was great, because it was a nice little personal Nina visit.”

As for when we might see Dobrev as Elena again, Plec says she’s sticking with her original plan of having her return for the series finale — whenever that may be.

“It’s what she and I kind of agreed on when she decided to move on, and it’s what I’ve got in my head,” Plec says. “Obviously things can change throughout time, if the show goes on longer than we expect it to, or if we all collectively decide it would be fun to bring her back earlier, and she wanted to. But in my opinion, she was very clear about what she wanted the next step in her life to be, and she’s doing a great job of achieving that. So I’m sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end.”

That's so sweet of Nina to come in and do that!

I love that her coming back in the finale is very final, boy it makes me happy.

I didn't know that, but if someone saw her, it's definitely bc she was going to record this episode, nice of her to do that in person

I missed Elena's voice so much, so so much

"She" sounded so scared, even though you could clearly hear something was off and it wasn't really her

And in the "Right here" part she sounded so Katherine-ish

Can't wait to see her back completely, even though I wished it was for more than 1 episode, but oh well...

When I first heard her voice, I could've sworn it was audio manipulation. I couldn't believe she'd fly back in for one day to do that.

The way she called Damon, I think it was from past seasons, tbh, reminds me of so many scenes

Well, it's not that difficult tbh... I mean, it's not like she was in Europe or Asia

Tbh I think JP thanking her for that was a bit overrated

It was nice of her for sure, but a real gift and surprise by her would have been shooting a real scene!, not recording 2 quotes

Maybe she would've been willing to shoot a real scene, but they didn't have room in the finale for it? Anyway, Nina's "appearance" just gives more hope that she wouldn't mind coming back in person for the series finale. I know some people were still worried she wouldn't want to when the time comes.

I think she was still busy shooting the XXX moviein that period, she probably recorded 7x22 quotes in a pause from that, but it was just a little break

Yeah, many people has been reassured by this "appareance", I'm glad

I hope season8 will still bring more for Elena and he situation
