I wanted to give her a hug but he totally did.

He seemed slightly less mad at her in the end, even though, he wasn't ready to forgive her yet.

He also needs to stop sending her mixed messages. He should have just let her walk away.

Exactly. As much as I like the near kiss that was totally unnecessary given the larger context of the scene.

That's what i thought too. Though, someone on tumblr did make about a good point about how that moment could be interpreted as him trying to be more like her by acting on his feelings and taking what he wants. But he couldn't.

She's told him where she stands. She knows she did wrong and has apologized.

It's up to Elijah to either accept the apology or not. He also needs to figure out whether or not to pursue this.

My prediction: he will accept the apology but will choose to not pursue a relationship, at least not right now.

That would be wise I think. However he can't do that and keep having near kiss moments.
