As for Tyler in Season 1... Well, he was very different and he had a lot of growing up to do. Vicki annoyed me to be honest. She kept confusing Jeremy (one minute she was all over him and the next she would be Tyler's lapdog).

Then again, if Damon fans can pretend as if he never did all those horrible things in Season 1 such as treat Caroline like a pathetic sex object, kill Zach (their uncle) and make Stefan's life hell, then Tyler fans should be able to look past how he used to be as well.

I totally agree Sophie that the show was really dragged down by the Originals from Season 3 onwards. I always liked Elijah, but the focus on Klaus got on my nerves and the attempts to humanize him through his crush on Caroline was so over the top and a complete betrayal of what she shared with Tyler.

I agree, it ruined the show in my eyes & the arcs that were set up for the other characters. I'm pretty sure that the whole Klaus storyline was supposed to end with Tyler killing him & earning his freedom for good, would have been so much better imo...

I don't know why the writers thought everybody loved Klaus. Joseph Morgan had a certain charisma about him, but he clearly played a villain who relished being a villain. It wasn't like Spike in Buffy who had been a tender poet in his human years and that carried on to his vampire life.

Klaus did bad things because he could. Because he was bored and lonely and wanted everybody else to feel as empty as him.

He bit Caroline because he couldn't have her. Before that, he made Tyler bite her because he wanted Tyler to suffer. Those two acts should make EVERYBODY see that he's not the right one for her. The Klaus/Caroline thing was toxic. He made Tyler leave town because he was jealous of their relationship. The whole thing was twisted.
