The first one was so wonderful and made me cry. There where moments in the second one that I really did love though.

I still need to watch the second one. But from everyone's comments and the description of it, I don't think I'll love it.

the second one was just too...different. the first one was a coming of age about two kids in a small town. well, one died, so immediately it kills the story.

The second one was okay. I liked Nick - he was sweet. Thought it was interesting that Vada got to find out more about her mom. The ring makes an appearance and Vada tells Nick about her best friend, Thomas J.

I liked the kiss in the second one. It was a great coming of age moment. Ear piercing, first real teen kiss, etc.

The ring was my favorite part of the second movie.

I was watching videos people made of the first one and just watching those made me cry.

I liked that Vada found out about her mom. She had so many questions and that little tiny box just didn't answer anything. And her father never talked about her

That's what was so sad - that he was locked in his own pain and, I guess, thought he was sparing her that. Perhaps he felt it easier that she never knew her mom ... or it hurt too much to talk about her.

how could one person expect as completely different person to never be curious of where they came from?

True, but that aspect of the movie is very common.
