^ That's a good point. At first, you think that he's the typical father who's just worried what a man would really want with his daughter. But you quickly realize it's just that he's not ready to let go yet, he's not ready to lose his daughter. It's rather sweet actually.

yeah and she can understand what hes going through too by the end of the movie it really is sweet. most movies just brush the dad off. its funny to think that steve martin really played the father though like he does it well but from his others movies i never see like a fatherly figure more someone who still acts like a kid

^ He was like that in this movie too, he was very childish at the beginning of the movie.

Whew, good. I don't want them to make a third movie. The talent in Hollywood right now isn't up to par with the talent there was in the 90s. They'd just screw it up.

Anyways, hi! I'm Paradise and this is one of my favorite movies. I'd love to be added to the list.

There's something so rare and beautiful about a film with a good dad who loves his children more than anything. Perhaps it's because while I have a Gilmore Girl's relationship with my mom, I don't have the same closeness with my father, so it's wonderful to be reminded that those kinds of father/daughter relationships exist.

My favorite line in the movie (and I'm going to get teary-eyed just typing it) was when Steve gave Annie the cappuccino maker and she looks at him and says, "I couldn't love anything more." (Yep, there go the tears!)

Agreed about being glad that was just a rumor. Please stop with the remakes.
