Did you read the other posts? The conversations started in post #10 where another posters mentioned they had heard it is due to covid. Supposedly Brian has mentioned something in regard to it too. Personally I haven't seen any of it. I have however seen at least in my own country that the vaccination process is staggered, as is the restrictions easing process. All to protect the younger children who remain unvaccinated & are at a greater risk of contracting covid. I have absolutely no idea why NCIS has made the decision to cast an older actor for the part, I can only speculate. My speculation is logical for me, which is enough for me to accept their decision. Even if I don't agree with it.

The only thing that I am saying is that the episode itself never gave an age to the character so the show has not aged her to our knowledge. The only thing they did do is cast an actor to play the part who happened to be older than the role they were playing. A common thing which happens, but unfortunate in this case as it was obvious. Unlike many shows with teen aged characters which have adults in their 20s playing teenagers, it is a lot harder to believe a 12 year old is 7. But I see it as being no different than that.

I'm still getting reaccustomed to this site for my apologies if I'm violating protocol. I understand that the episode itself never gave an age to the character. However, they didn't have to. Most of us have been watching this show since the beginning...and certainly since Victoria was born We know she should only be around 7 years old. Aging her a bit to get something out of the character is one this child was prepubescent...nearly twice as old as she's supposed to be. To me, it's an insult to faithful fans.

Violating what protocol? I just merged the double post for you since you'd responded to yourself if that's what you mean? I presumed it was just because you were trying to quote me & didn't think much of it as that easily happens when dealing with quotes . If you mean my comment about reading the thread, I was simply was pointing out that you could find out what we were talking about in regards to covid by reading the other posts

Fair enough, I see where you're coming from.

I agree that the actor looked too old for the part. However I also can accept the reality of television & covid (if that is involved somehow) & that sometimes things don't work out the way you'd hope. I don't see it as the show trying to make her older than the character really is personally. I see it as the show trying to pass her off as 7 (which is a bit of an insult to anyone watching as we're not stupid - at most she passed as 10, but not 7)

But hey, maybe we did a larger time jump than we realised last season, & NCIS exists in the future

I have just been watching the episodes, not the special features yet, but came across the episode commentary for this one so decided to watch that before moving on to the next episode (well to LA since this was the last ep on this NCIS disk )

Commentary says it is with Brian Dietzen (Palmer, episode writer) & Scott Williams (executive producer, co-writer). Unless I misread? They have a few people, including other actors, comment in this. It wasn't what I thought, it is just commentary to go with the episode, not them watching the episode & commenting as it goes along.

Brian had been wanting to write on NCIS for "some time" & decided to just ask & go for it, especially after covid. That seemed to be the big push to make him ask & try do what he wanted to do.

It sounds like they got pitched some ideas & this story is the one they picked to write.

Scott wrote the first half, Brian the second, then they put it together. Brian had lots of ideas on what he wanted Jimmy to say & what he wanted to say to his daughter so the big speech for Victoria came from Brian

Now that it finished & went back to the main menu, it does just say 'episode special feature Brian Dietzen & Scott Williams on "The Helpers"' so I did misread . Disappointing it wasn't a commentary, but still a nice special feature

I'm so happy that the writers allowed Brian to write half of an episode, especially that the The Helpers was a highlight to watch in overall.
