the character
Topher Brink is a precocious scientist at the Dollhouse whose talents exceed his morals. He designs and operates the technology used by the Dollhouse, which he does with unreserved glee. Topher's awareness of his own flaws, and everyone else's, make him the ideal architect to build the perfect personality for any job.

the actor
A graduate of Yale University, Fran Kranz most recently starred in the comedy series "Welcome to the Captain" opposite Jeffrey Tambor.

Kranz's upcoming films include "Don't Fade Away" and "Shades of Ray." His additional feature credits include "The TV Set" opposite David Duchovny, "Wieners," "The Night of the White Pants," "Careless," "Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas," "Rise: Blood Hunter," "The Village," "Matchstick Men," "Orange County," "Training Day" and "Donnie Darko."

Kranz also has extensive theater credits including "Twelfth Knight," "Angels in America," "A Bright Room Called Day," "Henry IV, Part I," "Sideman," "Antony & Cleopatra" and "The Dining Room." At a guest program at Oxford, he won Best Actor for his portrayal of "Petruchio" in "The Taming of the Shrew."

Kranz currently resides in Los Angeles.

So...what is everyone's favorite thing about Topher?

I think for me it might be his sense of humour.

Also, just how much he grew in the end. It was as if he was regaining the conscience he forgot he had.

I liked his season 2 journey the most, and how we saw how hard it was for him when he first started developing more of a conscience

Sierra's episode is still my all-time favourite episode of DH ever, and characters like Topher and Boyd also played a big part in its greatness

His season 2 journey is one of the best I've seen on tv, if not the best. I mean, if I try to put myself in his shows and experience the things he did, I know I wouldn't have made it. He's a strong, strong man and he's very human and it was so beautiful to see that. So incredibly saddening and hurtful, but beautiful.

I'm surprised a little that Belonging is your all-time fav ep, but I can see how it would be.

The characterizations were on all throughout and it really tugged at your heartstrings.
