I've read both book and movie, so saw the differences the movie made to the book. Book is darker than the movie.

Oh thats good to know Thanks for sharing! i need to get a hold of this movie soon!

I honestly don't think they broadcasted it after all. I watched the channel for almost an half hour & at first another program was still playing & then a dating program started.

^That's weird. Hope you'll get to see it some time, though.

I mentioned before that this film isn't really my cup of tea. And after finally seeing the film, I can honestly say that I'm not sure if I would ever watch it again. The film is very dark and it shows the other side of the 19th century, they really showed what it was like to be poor at the time and that people basically shunned you if you weren't married but lived together and Jude and Sue were seen as sinners. It was quite depressing and some scenes were very graphic.

It's happened before. Actually, it happens too often lately, but I wanna bet they 'rebroadcast' it in the coming weeks.

& I don't think the movie really is my thing either but i'm curious to see Kate perform.

The movie is as dark as the book. That being said it is probably to this day my favourite Kate role. I remember a lot of people thought at the time she was very unlucky not to get a BAFTA nomination for the role.

I hope they will. Kate's performance is brilliant as always. Hope you'll get to see it soon.

That's very unfortunate, Kate's really good. Which do you like better? The film or the book. Was the book good? I haven't read it, and I was wondering if I should pick it up?

The movie ends a few chapters before the book finishes. It's a pretty good adaptation if you like the style of Hardy and also Dickens, because it's that bleak style that's mentioned in it.

I think the movie is probably better than the book and that's a rarity in adaptations.

The ending was one of the saddest scenes. But in this film there were so many.

Love that shot in the movie. The ending was sad but the book was worse. *sigh*
