Hello, posters!

As some of you noticed in our post count thread, we dropped from 133 posts a day on average to 81, and then this past month, down to 47.

We are still well above the minimum of 15 posts a day we need to meet to stay off the post count warning list, but I thought I'd post a few tips on how to keep our post count healthy through hiatuses.

1. Every post matters. If you have time to contribute and would like to, don't be afraid to. Even if you only show up once a day for ten minutes.
2. If a conversation is stalling in a thread, or you wish to move a thread along, go ahead and start up a conversation. If the Raj thread is moving slow, post your favorite Kunal interview, or propose a question like "how many girls will Raj creep out before his chatty ways with the ladies will attract someone?"
3. If you want to pick up a thread, do something along the lines of #3. Don't simply post That not only is against rules if you do this in multiple threads (that is "star posting" and can get you an infraction), but it doesn't inspire conversation. Some of us are good, but I don't think any of us can take " " and turn it into a lively discussion on whether or not Howard and Bernadette should have children.
4. Posting fic in character/ship threads is fine (I'd be a hypocrite if I said it wasn't), but try to add to the conversation that is going on as well. If we're in the Shenny thread, for example, and the discussion is on who would initiate a first kiss, I suggest giving your thoughts on the matter and then saying "oh, and I updated this fic today". Even a brief "I've always pictured it as being this person initiating. And in my head, I always see them in this location." Works. It lets you let people know your fic is updated, but it also contributes to the conversation.
5. When in the OT thread, try to acknowledge other people's post before or after giving your own OT info. That can create multiple conversations happening at once, which only further fuels discussion.
6. If you watch an interview in the character/cast/news threads, and liked it, say so. Or if you usually post "great video!" or "funny video!" try saying what your favorite line is if you don't already (I should do this more, definitely). It can help fuel discussion as well.

These are only a few tips, but hopefully we can all use one or two of them to our advantages as we maneuver this and future hiatuses. I'd hate to see this board go anywhere before we're done with it!

Hope so! I was a little discouraged last month when we got Comic Con stuff and our count was still so low, but once episodes start, we should be good.

I know what you mean. Just think of it this way - some boards would be celebrating to have 47 posts a day. And we're all worried. We're not terrible off yet. But we need to keep up with posting.

Exactly, I am on another board who was almost on "probation" due to the low post count

I think the lack of most of the cast at Comic-Con was a big part of why we didn't get the usual post-Comic-Con boost... But yeah, once the show's back, we'll be in full swing!

More tips (if I may)

- Check the Introductions board and welcome any newcomers. Often the newcomers will respond, so your one post grows into two!

- Silly as they might be, participate in some of the game threads, like Word Association and ABCs and the 300 word story.

- And for a tiny bit of promotion - The Shamy thread is doing a summer-long Watch-A-Thon. Every Wednesday we watch a significant Shamy episode from a past season and post comments about it. There's been a lot of interesting insight that's come up during these discussions, especially viewing the episodes in retrospect with what has come later. If you're a Shamy shipper, or just want an excuse to rewatch old episodes, please drop by and contribute your thoughts. If you don't have the means to rewatch the episode, there are links to transcripts and YouTube videos to refresh your memory.
