I learned that in season five when I was looking for promo pics in there and then a page said, "Leonard proposes to Penny!"

For me, the not knowing excites me a lot more than the anticipation; largely because I don't build up a scene that I've read about and get disappointed about, etc. But I can see what you mean about getting excited as a group together over something big.

I totally agree, I only heard about all the drama after I had seen it, and I really did not understand it; I ship the Shamy but I love the friendship between Penny and Sheldon, it is a different kind of cute. I would probably have been biased had I known earlier what was going on in the fandom. That's another reason why I will keep spoiler free: it is not through reports made by other people with their own bias that you should live a story IMO but with your own eyes and your own bias/feelings.
But I guess I can understand a bit what happened with that episode. The same happened to me last year with the season finale: I read the raping report and was so pissed at several characters beforehand, then when I saw it I felt I had been unfair to the characters, the writers and the show with no reason. That's what convinced me to stay absolutely spoiler free from that moment on: it has to be my own experience, not others'. The only difficult part is avoiding the forum for a few days before each episode because that's in the silence in the ships threads that you can guess what is about to happen sometimes.

I enjoy being unspoiled a lot more, which means not reading the taping report or anything that has to do with it. I hate the inaccuracy of the taping reports and the discussions after it. It's more stressing out than anything else. And most importantly, there is absolutely no excitement left after reading them. You even know the jokes beforehand. There's also a chance to be disappointed because things didn't go the way you expected or they did another take etc.

The drama surrounding taping reports - though they had deescalated by the time I'd stopped reading them (season three taping reports OH MY GOD WE ALL ACTED LIKE SIX YEAR OLDS ) - was still a huge factor in me deciding to go spoiler free.

Sorry you ran into spoilers.
Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to avoid press releases, promo pics, etc. and I've discovered it's very, very difficult! Seems like each week I discover a new thing to avoid. I'm determined to keep trying though, until I manage to do it properly.

I understand what you say about enjoying the anticipation; I saw the promo pics for the turtle episode, but didn't mind at all because they were so wonderful I enjoyed watching the promos and looking forward to that episode. But generally I still want to get that experience of watching the episode absolutely fresh.

Good luck with avoiding the spoilers next time.

It might take years, but you'll figure it out! Now the only way I even know stuff is released (promo pics and such) is I'll see Brit talking about it on Twitter or she'll Skype me that stuff is out. And even then, I'm often looking at pics for episodes that I have no idea press releases are out for.

I don't remember specifically of this was season 3 or 4, but I feel like I remember a lot of people being upset about stuff in the reports, and I'd be like "guys I really didn't think it was that bad watching it."

I think the thing that got me away from spoilers - and has kept me away - is the things that are reported or discussed that wind up being NOT true. And I don't fault anyone for it - there's no telling if it's something that was filmed and never made the final cut, or if it was something just misinterpreted. It really doesn't matter why. But there were a couple of instances where I was either gnashing my teeth for several days for no reason or else I was terribly disappointed when something I expected to see didn't happen. I would just as soon wait and see the final product as Chuck et al intend for me to see it.

Plus any good outtakes for the gag reel

You nailed it. I think the stressing out about nothing was the reason I decided not to read the reports.

I had a lot of distraction today so I wasn't tempted to search for any spoilers. I hope I can keep that up until the episode airs and I don't accidently stumble over anything revealing

Good luck. Thanks for the reminder that this is the time of year when all the spoilers start flying around - need to be extra careful! I want to avoid interviews with Molaro/Prady (they give too much away), Ausiello teasers etc. I remember last year, by the time the finale aired we all knew basically the whole episode.

That's true. I was spoiled, but still impressed how much stuff they were giving away.
