If I was a L/P shipper, I think I wouldn't be so happy. Storywise, things seems to have advanced, but still; what have we got :
- We know from her girlies nights that Penny still has feelings for Leonard. Great, we knew it already. The JLR episode showed it quite nicely.

- Leonard has not really matured when it comes to women. I mean, he knows now about his attractiveness (which is a new feature)... but he uses it quite badly and gets laid with basically any girl who's okay with that (he even says so to... Penny ! it was back in S3 (Plimpton !) but his behaviour in S4 confirmed it).

So, basically, Season 4 has SHOWN us that Penny had feelings for Leonard, and that Leonard is able to manage his geeky side in order to find himself a girl... and that he still wants to engage in durable relationships (I mean, he wants to meet Priya's parents... as their daughter's bf).

I see nothing new here, but well, again, I'm not a shipper so maybe things elude me... but not all :

As an "optimistic" note (for you L/P shippers, I mean, 'cause I'd be just as happy if Penny ended up with Kripke - it's a joke, fellows -), the "unsaid" part of the season has been really very well handled. Looks, occasional contacts, and general physical play from Kaley/Johnny have been the real "moving on" of the L/P relation to me. Their mutual comfort and ease has been shown constantly with a real subtlety and this "subtext" was an enjoyable part of the season.

That's one of the reasons why I hope the underrated Season 4 will find some justice after all. In terms of arcs, characterization, overall construction and continuity, it's a very, very good one.

Total progress and it gave penny the push she needed to know how she feels, and also Leonard had the chance to date someone else and now next season he can deal with which relationship and who he loves and wants to be with.

Very good moments, seemed to really start on NYE Gosh that was so great between them. I love those looks and then again when Leonard had to tell Penny to get lost because of Priya, he sooo didn't want her to leave. damn those contacts1!@!@!@ :lmao:

I agree, the season overall has not been great at all, I think the only reason I like any of it is all of the great LP story movement. otherwise this season is on the bottom of my list. we had the first two seasons of Leonard's side so this was the season we needed to see Penny's
but if I shipped shenny or something else I wouldn't be able to find much to like about season 4 at all.

Oh Lucia, I didn't think he sounded pessimistic, he always says this about LP, he really has no idea what the show is doing, but he did say he wants to see them,,:lol: sounds like he likes Penny with Leonard better than Priya , too . :yay:
but I think he and Kaley always say stuff like this, I think they want to keep the pairing going , and they think this will give them the best stories and growth.

Okay, Geeksoul, here's why I - and to some extent I think everyone else on this thread - feels that this season is actually a good one for LP. Feel free to add, if you want, Snugglers.

Well, I consider it a good season for them for a few reasons.
1. They haven’t dropped the storyline. They could have broken them up differently and not gone back to it without it feeling unrealistic – even though I would have been devastated. The fact that we’re still seeing similar stuff shows that they aren’t done with them after 19 episodes together. So they aren’t going the Ted/Robin route with this.
2. We’re seeing more from Penny. The girls have helped with this. But we saw her give him that look in the New Year’s episode, we saw her make sure he wasn’t mad about the breakup and then want to get with him – if only for a night – again. Then we saw her cry-cry when Leonard goes out with someone else, even though the relationship was really new then. She hasn’t gotten any better about the jealousy.
3. They gave Leonard a girlfriend who actually meshes with him. They could have given him someone like Joy, but they didn’t. They gave him someone that Penny can realistically think he could end up with. Now, some people who don’t ship them probably won’t understand why I consider that good, but I still do because it’s making her think, showing that she’s jealous and upset, and I really think that it’s going to lead to one of the following: Penny will admit that she loves him to someone, or she’ll admit that breaking up with him was a mistake. I know we’re getting something good out of the Priya arc-we have to, and I think had he had a girlfriend less suited for him, she wouldn’t have been affected by it this much.
4. In last year’s finale, Leonard realized that there was a double standard in place. Penny can just whistle and he’d come running. Him saying “oh, I don’t think so” in episode nine when she said that is true now – he’s got someone. So the double standard is all but gone, at least for now. And even if he wants to go back to her more next year, the playing field will be evened out at least a little.
So I consider it a really good season when it comes to L/P. The only weakness related to them, for me, was having that hookup in the finale that clearly would have strained their friendship, and they virtually ignored them until episode eight. I don’t like dropped or seemingly dropped storylines no matter who they are about. Now, overall, I’ve found the constant split storylines, the overall bitterness of Leonard, Raj being more pathetic and desperate, and the lack of episodes with just the core five, to make the season the weakest one yet. But it’s not like I didn’t enjoy it. I certainly don’t think it’s a bad one for my couple.

But I’m not trying to convince you or anything, that’s just what I feel. :)

Well said Nicole! I agree with all of your points.

And I just really love the smaller details that they're incorporating with LP this season. Things like Leonard reading "Eat, Pray, Love" while in line for the movie (:love:), and bringing back the snowflake. A lot of the time it's those small moments that make me the most excited.

Agree Agree Nicole and Roxanne. I like how Penny had Leonard sit in the front passenger seat of her car when she picked up the guys from Leonard's disabled car.

The "Eat, Pray, Love" detail is one of my favorites, especially because it was so subtle.

Exactly, I love that they don't draw any attention to it, it's just there.
