Raj's Endgame Thread: Because "Why can't I ever have love?" "You will!" But With Who?

Alright, here's my post from the last thread:

I don't think that showing a guy dating several girls throughout the course of the show makes it any more difficult to decide which one is the one for him. I've seen so many people complaining about Sheldon and Amy and say, essentially, "all he/she has ever dated is the other one, so theoretically they could work better with anyone else, we just don't have the chance to see it because they never dated anyone else." With Raj, seeing these many 'maybes' is showing him in many different dynamics with many different women, so since each relationship is different, for me it's easier to get a sense of who I like better with him, since I'm picking from real relationship attempts. That's how a lot of people date in real life - being in more than one relationship over the course of one's life helps them get a better idea of what they want, and the same goes for me when picking a relationship for Raj. Now with my other ships that have dated multiple people - Mac/Harm, Leonard (moreso than)/Penny, Ross/Rachel, etc, there was always some very clear reason as to why it didn't work out, oftentimes the other relationship was put there for the purpose of progressing the already planned endgame. Raj doesn't have an endgame, so each relationship stands on it's own and picking from one or the other becomes more objective.

Yeah, I definitely don't mind seeing Raj dating a lot of different people; I mean just in terms of his character and his shyness, I think it makes a lot of sense. In order to gain more confidence and become more comfortable with himself around women, it stands to reason that he should date a lot of girls before one becomes really successful and lasting.

I mean, I'm kinda firmly in the Raj/Lucy camp, and I hope she's his endgame, but I don't have a problem seeing his other romantic ventures play out.

I'm Team Lucy as well. Especially since I relate to her so much, reading negative things about her (Tumblr can be SO fierce) makes me defensive and protective, because I feel like I'm defending/protecting myself (ditto for how I feel when I read "I can't stand her, no one is like that", because...yes, yes people can be like that, good to know you wouldn't like me in real life). So my attachment to Lucy herself has probably influenced how I feel about her and Raj, since without Lucy/Raj, we don't have Lucy. But I found her adorable and relatable and her similarities to Raj helped me relate to Raj. And then the fact that while he did speak first to Penny, and I adore that and would hate it any other way, Lucy was the one that helped him reach that watershed moment. She made him better and he was trying to make her better, and if he learns to calm down and go with the flow, I think it still could work.

Yeah, this. I know some said she was a "weak" character, but but it takes so much inner strength and willpower to do most of the things we saw her do on screen! social anxiety aside, I agree, I thought she was really adorable and funny, too. I think what endeared me to these two in a relationship was Lucy's comment that Raj's skin was like caramel and she just wanted to dip and apple in his face, since Raj once said his skin tone was "melt-in-your-mouth caramel". And then they broke up. You wanna make sure you've got my lasting investment in a ship, you make me hurt like that. :lol:

And, agreed on the bolded part. They both have growing to do, but I think they have a bond with each other still, especially with the "I'm broken, too" thing, I think they could make it last if they worked at it together.

I kinda like the idea of Raj/Mrs. Davis!

Most importantly I want Raj to be happy and that could be with one of those women, but we just don't know for sure yet. Hopefully his happiness in whatever situation/relationship he'll have gets resolved sooner rather than later.

Once he does get a steady girlfriend I don't need her to join the group, but to actually get along with them would be nice.

I would love to see Raj find love one day with any of these woman, but my overall hope is that he move away from the desperate lonely guy persona and move towards being a confident young man, comfortable in his own skin. If that means that he ends up single, than I hope he is embracing that life instead of just moping around.

That being said, I really tend to lean more towards Lucy because I can also relate to her. I am very very shy out in the real world and I have trouble even holding a conversation with people I am unfamiliar with for long periods of time. I am also not very confident or comfortable in my own skin so i tend to be very hard on myself or depressed all the time, scared of trying anything new. For these reasons I would love for Raj to end up with Lucy, but every one of those women, I think, could make him a happy man as well.

And of who we've seen so far, I don't have a clear set preference. I did really like Yvette, and still want to see more of her, but that's an "I'm interested here, please show me more," situation, not, "OMG I SHIP IT." I wouldn't be opposed to Lucy coming back, but I won't be upset if she doesn't either.

I agree with this 100%, have really nothing else to add. :)

What I want is for Raj to get into a relationship with someone and then have him end it. That would show that he's no longer desperate without him necessarily needing to end up single - because even before he became more whiny and needy, he wanted a family. We saw that as early as 1.02.

That's a cool idea. :nod: I'm assuming this whole dating two women at once thing will end badly, but if it were to be a longer storyline it could maybe come from there.

Yeah I'd like to see him dating someone for four, five, six episodes, then realize it's not the kind of relationship he wants, and have a "I want a girlfriend, but I don't just want a girlfriend," type of epiphany.

:nod: Kinda like Leonard with Stephanie. Since Molaro said at the beginning of this season that Raj would be more like Leonard when it came to interacting with women, so maybe it's possible.
