Doubt we'll ever know the full story as to why they wrote them so strongly in that direction and made it such a big part of the last season only to drop it completely.

It's weird that it started out a big part of the season, then tapered way off. Like there were episodes without even a mention of her when they were supposedly working through their issues.

Right! Then that one episode that apparently had an entire storyline of them that was cut completely, when they already had dropped off so much.

I think that's because the writers focused way too much on Sheldon and Amy.
All the other characters suffered from that.

Could be. Still find it weird that they went so hard at the arranged marriage thing and then just...didn't commit. But they were focusing on Shamy a lot, too.

I think maybe at that point they could have turned their focus on Raj a bit more, as much as we adore Shamy... to me, it seemed all about them at one point.
Even though he was happy for the gang that they found love but he desperately wanted happiness for himself with a special woman and I hoped for that closure. I guess we will never know

I was disappointed that they didn't go to the end with Anu. But honestly I was much more disappointed by how they portrayed him in the last episode. Back to the old creepy stalky Raj who thinks every girl who is talking to him is going to be his girlfriend.

That doesn't show a lot of growing up after his relationships with Emily and Anu.
