Wasn't sure where this would fit best, but seeing as Leonard and Sheldon are the only two characters who are the same...

Someone uploaded the original unaired pilot to youtube!! It's got the Katie character instead of Penny, and no Howard or Raj.

I've just watched part 1 so far... Some jokes are still the same as the final pilot, but it's interesting to see the other things that have changed.

Just finished watching it! There were a few parts I laughed at, but on the whole they definitely made the right decision to rework the show. It was really interesting to see how some of the stuff with Katie was reused with Penny, almost word for word, yet it comes off completely different.

And I've saved the videos to my computer, just in case something happens and the youtube links no longer work.

Weird enough I really liked it. It has a whole different approach to things and it seems a bit less repressed regarding some things. Also the dynamic is completely different with 2 women and 2 guys. And this pilot is more coherent with the way Sheldon is portrayed in the pilot that aired.

Not saying that it's better than the way the show is now but I see how they could have used that unaired pilot to make something interesting. I think that Katie probably would have been a more interesting character in the beginning and wouldn't have required the change that the show had to do in S1 with Penny. Instead they just would have shown more of her background and in that way made her less of a hoe that just wanted to take advantage of the boys.

Same here... On one hand it's cool to see a girl nerd as part of their group, but she doesn't seem as interesting as Howard or Raj.

I actually liked this pilot too. I couldn't stop laughing at the end when they were all dancing.

But if I were to choose between Katie and Penny, I would undoubtedly choose Penny because Katie was definitely a meaner character. She seemed to soften up a bit by the end of the episode, but at the beginning, I kept thinking, "Stop being so mean to Leonard and Sheldon!"

The dynamic would have been way different with a girl instead of Howard/Raj, but I have a feeling the show would be a lot less geeky too. Not that she wasn't geeky by any means, but I think one less character makes a pretty big difference. And she seemed to also be a potential romantic interest. She leaned more toward Leonard (even though she apparently slept w/Sheldon), so it seems like there would have been a Leonard/Katie & Leonard/Gilda thing going on.

And I do agree she's less interesting than Howard/Raj. I was surprised at how fast the actress could say those lines, I could barely keep up with what she was saying!

I’m only halfway through part one-it’s amusing. But the way Sheldon is portrayed is totally creeping and wierding me out at the same time. Ugh I just don’t like it. *shudders*

I know for a fact I would not be watching this show if this is the kind of show that had aired-gives me waaaay too much of a TAAHM vibe-and when we get those in actual BBT I hate it.

Okay so honestly, I was never sure if I was anti-Sheldon/girl or not, but I am after watching this pilot. My brain broke when Guilda (sp???) said she and Sheldon had had sex. 0_0

That's going to take a while to fix. But I did like Katie a lot more by the end.

Yes! That was very impressive. It rivaled Gilmore Girls! Actually she might have beat Gilmore Girls.

But I definitely like Howard and Raj more than Guilda.

I liked Gilda's character, but I definitely prefer Howard and Raj. As for how Sheldon is, the minute he said he'd seen six women naked and NOT all of them were relatives, I got freaked out. It just seemed so unnatural with the way his character is written now. It creeped me out. And, I do like Penny more than Katie, since she was much more accepting and nicer. Also, kind of random, but I prefer the set pieces they use now compared to the ones they used in this version. The ones now just seem so much nicer and brighter.

I agree, Brit. Their apartment looked so dark and cramped because there was stuff everywhere! I had no idea what door led to the bathroom/bedroom/outside. I didn't think Sheldon would approve of their apartment looking so cluttered.

I know! My mouth dropped when she said her and Sheldon had sex. I thought it was a joke at first, until Sheldon said, "No, he doesn't have a right to know that!" The idea of Sheldon having sex with another woman is just...creepy. Definitely freaked me out.

The end with them dancing had me really laughing out loud
but I do admit I didn't like the Katie character much so I didnt' feel badly for her at all when Leonard pointed out the obvious to her.
The gilda character reminded me a little of Leslie Winkle

I am glad they went a totally different way with Sheldon, he is much more of a comedic character now

I know last summer I really wondered if I was opposed to Sheldon/Girl or I just had this problem with Sheldon/Penny, but I thought it was Sheldon/Girl. Then I knew for sure it was S/girl that I didn't like when I saw the Bev kiss, then it got worse when I read rumors about his 'love interests' and now after seeing what I've seen so far and reading what you all have said-I am SO glad that Sheldon's the way he is and it is DEFINITALLY Sheldon/Female that I don't want.

I think some of you are forgetting that we know our characters for 3 years now and this is just an unpolished pilot. So comparing Howard/Raj to Guilda is a bit unfair. I don't think Raj and Howard were all that interesting in the real Pilot either. I certainly wasn't at all a fan of Howard. If the aired Pilot was what I would have to judge it on I would have voted Howard out right then. And Raj didn't get to speak much.

Also I don't see anything wrong with Sheldon having sex. It certainly fits the way he has been portrayed in both Pilots. I wouldn't mind him having sex in TBBT either if it was done right. And while I prefer the way their apartment looks now, it makes sense for it to look like that in that Pilot since they had to sell sperm for a meal. In the current Pilot they wanted to do it for the luxury of very highspeed internet connection.
