Hi everyone!
Over the next week, Fan Forum will be undergoing a long overdue software upgrade. This new software should improve board performance, provide new features, and increase the security of this site. Many thanks go to the Fan Forum moderators, who for the last few weeks have been helping to beta test the new site.

In order to move to the new system, the current Fan Forum boards, posts and users will be backed up Wednesday night, May 5. Posts made or user settings changed on the current boards after that will not show up on the new boards.

Important Information: Your Login ID in the new system will be your Publicly Displayed Name in the current system, rather than your Login Name in the current system. This means everyone needs to change their current Publicly Displayed Name to be what they want to be called in the new system by Wednesday, May 5, when the transfer will be done. Once your Login ID is set in the new system, you will NOT be able to change it!

Also note that custom avatars will have to be moved over manually, so make sure you have a copy to upload into the new system.

The switch will take place next weekend, May 8-9. Once the new site is opened, the current site will remain open for a time until we're sure the new system is working properly.

And about our longing ID... If the name everyone see now is VeronicB is that going to be the loging ID?

ok I think I understand.
If we dont change our SN will it just show up on the new boards??

Also will each board on FF still be Custom, or will it just be one color and no Image on top??

Go to Profile.
Click on Profile & Preferences.
Scroll down until you see Publicly Displayed Name.
You may change it there.
Be sure to click on the Profile & Preferences button at the very bottom of the screen.

It's very possible we will lose a few posts depending on when they do the backup vs when they go live with the site.

Your NEW log in name will be VeronicB unless you change it now. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img] The software does not allow us to change our names. Where is I log in with semvbm, my display name is *Vicki*. *Vicki* will now be my permanent log in name.

The new software looks almost identical to this just with lots more gadgets to play with. The only down fall I saw was img/gif/smilie allotments. We have 20 now but the new software only allows us to use 10 img/gif/smilies in one post.

It's possible we will lose a few posts but nothing as bad as the one time FF crash and most of us lost 100's of posts.

Yep, what ever name you see in the left hand column about your stars will be your new log in name.

The Jason Board will look just the same, just more toys to play with. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]



Not much we can do about that. [img]smilies/frown.gif[/img] Just hope they like the name they are currently using. If not, maybe they could borrow someones computer and change it right now.

Sarzy and I have no control over when they are converting the software.
