Friday Night Lights OT Thread #5: Because We Still Love The Rest Of The FNL Cast

The all encompassing Friday Night Lights thread to discuss any and all actors from the show and just the show in general because even though it's been 10-years since it premiered it remains one of the most beloved shows out there. And even we sometimes have to admit the show was about more than just Tim Riggins.

"Inspired by the legendary Buzz Bissinger book Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream, and the 2004 Peter Berg movie based on it, FNL told the story of a high school football coach from Dillon, Texas, whose improbable victories mirrored those of the critically beloved — but disastrously rated — show itself. In an era when sports television was supposedly at its nadir, when elite storytelling was supposedly only the work of prestige outlets like HBO and AMC, Friday Night Lights emerged as the quintessential show about American spirit and uplift at a time when the moral and economic bedrock of our Country seemed most in doubt.

Gone too soon. Appreciated too little. Treasured by those who followed it. That was Friday Night Lights." -Grantland

From the last thread, Kyle on Seth Meyers promoting Bloodline, and thanks to Kayla, we now know Seth is on Hulu.

Good news for Gaius: His NBC show Taken was renewed for a second season!

He looks really buff in this pic:

His character is pretty badass. The article says the ratings were only so-so here but it's popular internationally. Maybe more international audiences will discover FNL via him.

That's good news. I may have to add it to my list because I like Clive Standen from Vikings. Still on Gotham... still having trouble with the creepy weird stuff.

Yay Gaius! I don't see much promotion for Taken, I'm glad it's getting a second season.

Bloodline season 3 is available today, which of course stars Kyle, he's been in New York promoting it.

Kyle still blaming Connie for the holdout on the FNL reunion.

Teary eyes, might lose. Friday Night Lights' favorite couple may never reunite onscreen again, according to Kyle Chandler. The Bloodline actor revealed why while attending the season 3 premiere of his Netflix show in Culver City, California, on Wednesday, May 24.

"Connie Britton is the hold out. She won’t. She refuses to do it," Chandler, 51, exclusively told Us Weekly on the red carpet. He added with a smirk, "Connie refuses to do it so I’m not going to do it without her."

Chandler and the Nashville alum, 50, played Coach Eric and Tami Taylor on the football drama, which ran from 2006 to 2011 on NBC. Often landing on Best TV Couples lists, the duo basically put the "full hearts" in the show's popular tagline.

Dillon Panther (and East Dillon Lions!) fans have been hoping for a reboot for years. Chandler, however, told Us that he hasn't heard of an official comeback.

The Spectacular Now star has been keeping busy since walking off the field, though. He appeared in the Oscar-winning films Argo and Manchester by the Sea, and just wrapped Bloodline's final season.

"I'll probably miss the process that we had while we were shooting it, which was a process that was somewhat similar to Friday Night Lights. It was just so enjoyable and open," Chandler told Us on Wednesday of the Netflix series. "And I’ll miss the collaboration that the writers share. And then you miss the people. As far as the character, I won’t miss that, but it’s the real people that you miss."

And Jesse was in Cannes with Kirsten for her movie premiere.

Connie is in Telluride with Sophia and her birthday crew. Her son is so adorable.

Kyle and Jesse on the set of Game Night.

Kyle's so cute. Ever since Late Night this week, I've been wanting to do a mini Kyle marathon. I wish Early Edition was on Netflix!

I wonder if we're to assume from the fake blood that Kyle is either playing a jerk who gets punched out or is the hapless good guy who unwittingly gets entangled in something.

It's a holiday weekend. I wonder if Taylor is in Telluride with them. He was part of the birthday crew.

Oh and this is OT but speaking of Sophia, I read she's leaving Chicago P.D. She's the reason I watched all these years. She was so badass and was such a pivotal character, too.

Bringing another photo of Kyle over of "Game Night" filming. The director shared this one:

I can't spy Jesse, but I know he was also part of filming this scene. Judging on the mentions from the cast & crew they are done or almost done with filming. I do assume that Kyle and Jesse are done with filming their parts.

That tweet is hilarious! I really like John Francis Daley. Thanks for posting it. It turns out Kyle was also on The Chew this week, and one of the hosts mentioned that Kyle had "just finished" Game Night.

Just watched Kyle's The Chew interview and thought it was really nice that he gave Jason Bateman a shout-out. Other crew members have mentioned they wrapped filming so it seems everyone is done now

I just checked the previous thread, but I don't think this was posted here. It's from an instagram story earlier this month. It features a glimpse of Jesse and Kyle:

Yeah, he was clearly impressed with Jason. It's funny but I've heard others praise Jason and he is really talented, but there's something about him in real life that seems unpleasant. Like he's too snarky or something.

Here's Kyle on The Chew. He starts at 17:30.

Someone uploaded just his part (http://youtu.be/tV6hygr-9PM), but to me the quality for this longer version is slightly better.

I must admit it was jarring to see him come out and be so much shorter and slighter than the hosts. Kyle has always been one of the tallest guys in the room, and was so larger-than-life as Coach. Plus I started thinking that Taylor, if he ever did the show, would look tiny because he's slightly shorter and much slimmer than Kyle. I still want him to do it, though. I think it would be fun.

Anyway, Kyle was also on the Today show last week, and FNL came up:
