Ugh. I'm so sorry Kayla. This is just insane. 2021 is turning out worse than 2020 in our country. I guess the kids aren't in school if there is no power. I was going to suggest using the snow to drink??

I hope they get to you tomorrow to fix your pipe and can turn the water back on and you have water!

It's 25 today but was sunny and the snow is dripping off my roof so I hope that means your snow is melting or not melting if you need it for drinking water...so many different factors.

Loving Broadchurch. Don't know why it took me so long to watch this. Also love my new winter jacket, it's not bulky but super warm.

Can I say that of all the things Cruz and his family did...leaving their freaking dog, with a security guard checking in on it or not, in freezing house while they left. If it's too cold for you what makes you think that it's warm enough for that tiny dog. Grr.

Whaaat? Is that true?

On the way back from the orthopedist the other day my father and I stopped at Quick Check. There were no spots close so my dad pulled into a handicapped spot and dropped me off. I hobbled in on crutches to get a sandwich and some drinks. One of the employees saw me struggling and totally helped me. She carried everything for me, rang me up (its self check out), held the door open for me etc. So I emailed corporate to compliment this young lady and it got kicked back. So I just called the store. And the manager seemed annoyed and I think she hung up on me! lol Maybe she thought it was prank??? I'm not calling back.

I'm soooo bored! Someone come save me from this hell. I just called my brother and begged him to bring the dog over for a couple hours. Still too much snow on the ground for me to drive, besides the fact that I don't have my car, it's at my parents. At least I'm sleeping a little better.

A friend posted a pic of the Cruz's dog, Snowflake. She's a white poodle, miniature, and she was sitting at the front door looking out. I have no idea if the pic was recent. I heard the security guard was in charge of checking on her and that yes, their power was off. So they left her in a house with no heat. Again, no idea if that's true. How could you leave your dog with no heat?!?! That's just cruel. Also, how do you not tell your girls this isn't the time for a vacation?

I saw today that Austin gets 43% of its energy from wind and solar.

Kiki, I am sorry you are bored. I get it. You can only stare at the same walls for so long. I hope the puppy can come over and keep you company.

You called to praise someone's efforts and the manager hung up on you? How rude.

We went on an adventure today and found lunch! We were all very excited to get out of the house. We discovered a new way to avoid major roads to get to the shopping center not too far from us. I'm not exactly sure how they were operating (where we got food), but Whataburger was open too. I say that bc there is very low pressure for water and a boil notice...so they have little water coming out and it has to be boiled before use...that's a pain for anyone, but a restaurant? Ugh. A hot meal was just what we all needed.

It was sunny and most of the snow melted. We collected as much as we could before it was gone. The repairman (I HOPE he's an actual plumber and not just a fix-it guy) can come tomorrow as long as we have water. Part of our neighborhood does not. We turned the water back on for a second to see if we had any, and we do!! That means our pipe should get fixed tomorrow!! It'll still be low pressure and have to be boiled, but we'll have hot water and be able to flush the toilets! It's the little things. The roads are clearing up so shelves can be restocked.

A friend said we could come over tomorrow and shower! I am sooo grateful for that! We will go as soon as we're done dealing with the pipe. I am so ready for all of this to be over. Austin Water said they might be able to get everyone's water back on by the end of the weekend as long as consumption stays lower than supply. They have to refill a reservoir before everyone's pressure will come back. I'm certain when the water comes back, ppl will discover burst pipes.

Even once it's refilled, it'll take a bit to get the water samples checked to make sure they are safe for drinking. So probably a boil notice for at least a week. This is far better news than it'll take 1-2 weeks to even get it turned back on. We can do laundry, dishes, and bathe in it. It only needs to be boiled for drinking, toothbrushing, or in food prep. I read we need to boil it for handwashing...but why hands and not for a full shower? That doesn't make sense. There is no evidence the water is even contaminated. This is just an abundance of precaution.

Overall, a better day than yesterday.

I saw the picture of the poodle.. How ironic that his name is Snowflake! Poor baby.

I actually read that only 13% of Texas is clean energy. Why can't anyone report the right numbers? It's scary.

No puppy tonight. Hopefully tomorrow. I have a million things I COULD be doing but I don't want to. I did sort and organize some school folders that I've been meaning to.

I think the manager at Quick Check either didn't listen to me and thought it was a prank and hung up... or we were disconnected somehow. Someone though, doesn't want me to compliment this girl for some reason.

I'm glad you are seeing some progress Kayla. I know it sucks but think about how much worse it could have been.

My nephew is pledging a fraternity now. I am so glad that both he and my niece went Greek. It was such a great experience for me. Does OM have any interest?

I have no idea. I saw the 21.5% as a number from 2018 or 2019. And I saw the 43% for Austin today. It doesn't surprise me that Austin would use more renewable than any other city in Texas. That's so Austin. That 43 is part wind and part solar. I DO see A LOT of solar panels on homes here. I think solar makes sense. It's sunny more days than not.

Sweet Snowflake, he just wants his family to love him.

No. She's not much of a joiner in that perspective. She likes going places and to events, but not people so much.

Oh, it could be so much worse. I've seen ppl posting that they need baby formula and water for their bottles. Babies and small children with no power for days. It makes me so sad. I just found out that an elderly gentleman in our neighborhood has passed away. This storm did no one any favors.

Haha. I don't like people too much myself anymore.

My nephew used to be a homebody. Besides sports, which took up most of his time, he was quite happy hanging out with his family. After basketball season ended about a year ago, he did a complete transformation. He was out all the time, girlfriends, and now he is loving college. I'm so happy for him. Not so much that he doesn't always answer my calls or get back to me right away, but it's okay. haha Happy and healthy though is all you can ask for. He was perfectly happy before as well. I'm just glad he's come out of shell a bit. I guess that comes with maturity.

Can you hear the angels singing? That's just ME! I have a fixed pipe! AND my house has running water! AND we have excellent pressure! I am so so so so happy!!!

Some in the neighborhood still have NO water or low pressure. The boil notice is still in effect for drinking water. I still have about 8-10 gallons of pre-boil water to drink. I can flush potties! I can wash laundry! I can run the dishwasher! AND yes, I have cried. I am so happy! The minions are showering right now!! My landlord came over to watch the repair and to bring pipe insulation and additional insulation for between the pipe and the outside wall. He obviously doesn't want this to happen again either.

Oh, happy day!!

OM has always been on the shy side, which is funny. When she warms up to you, she'll never stop talking and you've made a friend for life, as long as you don't break her trust.

So glad to hear you have your water back on! That must be such a relief after those long days without it.

It sounds like the leak must have been minimal. I'm glad there wasn't any additional damage. Hope that they can lift the boil order for you soon so you can be totally back to normal.

I was assaulted by the cutest puppies today and now I want a puppy. I was at Moosejaw to go and pick up some stuff or skiing and was walking out and this woman just like shoved a puppy in my arms. She said they're fostering and they wanted to bring them to the store to run around and socialize them. The one had the sweetest disposition. I wanted to take him home.

I also bought the so ugly it's cute Northface fleece today.

The shower I took makes my top ten list.

I've done two loads of dishes and one load of laundry (towels). The city is asking us to conserve water. I didn't have water for 4 days when everyone else did, so I do not feel bad about it at all.

Baby Minion has ZERO clean clothes. He wore shorts and a t-shirt after his shower. He did not wear them all in the past 6 days. He needed me to do laundry BEFORE the storm hit. Now, he's down to nothing clean. This isn't really my fault. He knows how to do laundry. I realize he couldn't do any since Monday, but prior to that...it's on him.

He's broken me. I no longer want his room to smell good. I just want his room to not smell. I do not understand how it gets like this, but it smells nonetheless. He is very good at showering and changing his sheets. I just don't get it.

The pipe that broke was on the outside facuet. I'm certain it was the exact same place as when it broke before. I flooded the living room carpet pretty quickly. Thankfully, it was just the one break, in one place.

Obviously, you need a new puppy. Griz told me he wants a new friend.

I have no idea what this fleece looks like. It's a thing? I shall Google.

Griswold does not need a sibling. I can't have another animal in this house. But my brother and his wife are looking for a puppy.

I have no idea of the Northface is a thing, it's like an ugly floral pattern that probably would have been someones wallpaper in the 70s. But it's perfect for cottage weekends.

A cousin dog! That could be fun for Griz too!

Griz has a lot of extended family doggies. In a few weeks I might have him up at our cottage and there will be four 80+ dogs...that's too much.

Of the ugly jacket? I searched one out.

I literally fantasize about getting my cast off.. shaving my leg, smothering it in lotion, and getting a pedi. I'm sure your shower was amazing.

In school... we call that smell "5th grade." No other explanation needed.

My mother and I finished Bridgerton. I have to say, the last few episodes were better than the beginning. Unfortunately, I had 0 interest in the 2 main characters but I liked all the other ones. I changed my mind, and might tune in to the second season. Last night, while NOT sleeping, I watched the first episode of Allen Vs. Farrow. Crazy ****.

I remember fifth grade as the time I had to start wearing a bra and worry about deodorant.

I'm hesitant to watch Allen vs. Farrow because I know it will piss me off.

I finished Broadchurch in a weekend and moved on to For All Mankind. I watched the first episode before and wasn't in the mood for it but heard season 2 has started strong.

When I had a cast on my leg when I was a kid I used to try to use everything to scratch it. I'm pretty sure when I had it removed (I was in kindergarten) there was like at least one barbie brush down there and a comb or two.
