Friday Night Lights OT Thread #15: Because We Never Want To Leave Dillon

The all encompassing Friday Night Lights thread to discuss any and all actors from the show and just the show in general because even though it's been 10-years since it premiered it remains one of the most beloved shows out there. And even we sometimes have to admit the show was about more than just Tim Riggins.

"Inspired by the legendary Buzz Bissinger book Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream, and the 2004 Peter Berg movie based on it, FNL told the story of a high school football coach from Dillon, Texas, whose improbable victories mirrored those of the critically beloved — but disastrously rated — show itself. In an era when sports television was supposedly at its nadir, when elite storytelling was supposedly only the work of prestige outlets like HBO and AMC, Friday Night Lights emerged as the quintessential show about American spirit and uplift at a time when the moral and economic bedrock of our Country seemed most in doubt.

Gone too soon. Appreciated too little. Treasured by those who followed it. That was Friday Night Lights." -Grantland

I think I might have read the same article. I'm going to go look at it more closely, I just skimmed it before.

Here is the quote from the article:

Quote:
With five seasons to explore, Phillips and Oristano have no shortage of exciting twists and turns to discuss on Clear Eyes, Full Hearts. They’re not going to do it alone either. Phillips shares that there are some things he wants to keep a surprise, “but we have some big ones waiting in the wings including Gaius Charles aka Smash Williams and Brad Leland aka Buddy Garrity.”

Those guests are already enough to cheer about, but the surprises have us on the edge of our seats. The show already had a Collette family reunion. So it’s only in due time before there’s a Riggins one to listen to, too.

According to Phillips, Clear Eyes, Full Hearts already has nine guests lined up, and the “producers are planning a big reveal” for a few of them.

There was an interview with Brian Grazer recently where he talked about the new FNL movie and then apparently the movie is going to lead into the new rebooted FNL series which will be done by the Dowdle brothers who did Waco with Taylor.

It's still going to be set in Texas but not Odessa or Dillon but an entirely new city.

A reboot with new characters? I don’t think so.

Yeah completely new reboot. Basically they're attempting to springboard it with the movie.

It's supposed to take place in Del Rio or something like Del Rio.

Boo! FNL is the characters we’ve come to know and love. I don’t have an interest in new ones.

The only thing that might keep my attention away is just I'll be trying to keep track of the game and pictures, etc.

I just watched the first episode of the Mayor of Kingstown, with Kyle Chandler, on Paramount+. Looks good so far. It’s set in Michigan.
The corruption in a town is far reacting. You’d like to think this is just a fictitious story. It’s probably far truer than we’d ever want to know.

ETA: there are two episodes available, they both released today. I’m guessing this will be a week to week situation.

I think it's only available on Paramount +?

Ugh...I will not pay for another streaming service.

I'm not sure why they don't put it on the network....I know they usually air Yellowstone on the network? It's so confusing.
