I honestly wouldn't want him to do something like this. Is it a miniseries or a series tv show?

It's a TV series, they're writing the pilot as we speak. Paramount Television is involved, the guy who is taking it on did the Hannibal TV show on NBC.

I don’t see him doing something where he’d have to move for shooting...

That said, I’m so okay with him as a vampire. Yum.

I can't see him signing on to a multiple season TV show. TD was a six month shoot in LA and Waco a three month shoot in NM. Anything past six months might be too much to be away from home.

Yeah he did that with TD. But then we ended up having to wait two years to see him in anything again!

I read a headline that said someone bought the rights to Shantaram, that book he mentioned years ago as really liking. (Why can't I remember where he mentioned it???).

Which is why I'm worried he might take a break and just focus on Pieces. He has a pattern of doing this. Busy busy 2012 and then nothing until almost 2014. Two projects in 2014 and then nothing for another year until 2015 with TD. Took off another year before he even committed to another project. You just don't know with him. I think that if something really really great came along he'd jump at the chance though.

In one of the Happy Sad Confused podcasts Taylor mentioned reading the book and Johnny Deep was attached to the movie. That was like 4 years ago now.

With him, who knows. Always a possibility.

I think he took a step back after 2012 because of the crazy press schedule and honestly, probably the lack of success the projects had. But this time around, even with three projects in pretty close succession, he didn't seem too overwhelmed and really seemed to enjoy the majority of the press. He's also had a bit of a break since late October before having to push Waco. So maybe he's not quite as burnt out.

He hasn’t asked me yet. I’ll keep you posted though.

I mean, eventually it'll happen. But the good news is even if he did decide to start a family, he's not the one that has to carry around a growing human for 9 months. He just needs to schedule to be home for those first three months.

I want him to be happy but I'm also extremely jealous of Jennifer. As I have said before, I was okay with Rachel though.

I mean my opinion would be if they're back together this should be it, but he's unpredictable so, again, who knows. I think Rachel is still with the guy that she was with after Taylor.

Good one.

I think he might get into more producing, start focusing primarily on developing projects for himself. It's clear he really enjoyed the experience on Waco.

I had to look it up. It's going to be a series:

Quote:
'Shantaram' TV Series in the Works With Anonymous Content, Paramount TV

Following a monthlong, multiple outlet bidding war, Amy Powell-led Paramount Television and frequent collaborator Anonymous Content have landed the rights to Shantaram, the best-selling novel from author Gregory David Roberts.

The mob drama was previously set up as a feature film, with Johnny Depp set to produce and Joel Edgerton attached to star. Paramount Television and Anonymous Content will now adapt the property for the small screen. The two companies also acquired rights to Roberts' follow-up novel, The Mountain Shadow. A network is not yet attached.

The Shantaram take will be executive produced by Anonymous Content's Nicole Clemens and Steve Golin; Andrea Barron will also exec produce.

The novel has been published in 39 languages in 42 territories worldwide and has sold more than 6 million copies. It centers on an Australian heroin addict convicted of robbery who escapes from a maximum-security prison who flees to India and reinvents himself as a doctor in the slums of Bombay. He then gets involved in counterfeiting, smuggling and gunrunning, which leads him to Afghanistan, where he and a mob boss battle Russians.

"As a huge admirer of the material, I’ve been tracking this book for more than a decade,” Golin said Wednesday in a statement.

Added Roberts: "I’m honored and humbled in equal measure as a writer, and thrilled for the many readers who have hoped that Shantaram would become a vivid screen experience. Television is the perfect medium for the novel, and Steve Golin and Nicole Clemens at Anonymous Content are the perfect partners.”

Joe Regal of Regal Hoffmann & Associates repped the book, while attorney Drew Patrick negotiated on Barron's behalf.

For Paramount Television, Shantaram joins a roster that includes TNT's forthcoming The Alienist, George Clooney's Catch-22 and Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, among others.

He used to say, back when he originally did Pieces as just a short when asked if he preferred directing/producing and if he was transitioning toward that. He was pretty adamant that he was an actor first, that that would always be first. But that was awhile ago now. Maybe he feels differently or isn't getting the kind of roles he'd prefer to do so he has to create them for himself.
