Danny Mitchell (Inferno) Thread #2: Because We Hope They Can Begin Filming Soon

Inferno Thread #2

Production begins: Early 2020
Scheduled release date: TBA

Quote:

Once again blurring the line between humans and aliens, Inferno is described by the filmmakers as a "one-of-a-kind epic sci-fi thriller where nothing is what it seems." Kitsch will play a cop called in to investigate a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert. The arrival of the FBI confirms his suspicions that something much bigger — perhaps even extraterrestrial — is at play.

The hunt for the killer soon puts him face-to-face with a humanoid beast that will stop at nothing to exterminate the one witness to the crime. As the hunt becomes personal with the abduction of his wife, "everything he knows about the universe will be challenged, and our connection to other life forces in the universe will be revealed."

Interesting ...

Any word on Inferno lately???

No new word from Neill on what's going on and if it's Inferno or if it's just some short film project he's working on.

Hopefully, we'll know something soon! :)

I came across an actor/model that mentioned he was auditioning for Neill Blomkamp today in LA. So...probably casting right now still, again, assuming this is for Inferno.

Okay... I found out some things about NM. The governor is being super strict. The police have been told to pull you over and ticket anyone not wearing a mask... in their own car! Also, a 14-day quarantine is required if you come into the state. SO...I'd be surprised if the governor is letting anyone film anything. IF so, then the crew would probably all have to arrive at the same time and quarantine for 14 days before they can start filming.

How does this get enforced? I have no idea. This information came from someone who lives in NM. She's very close to the Colorado border, so much so that her grocery store is in CO. She's supposed to quarantine each time she crosses back into NM, per governor orders.

Part of me wonders if they might decide to film it somewhere else. Who knows. Right now I'd guess August maybe as a start date?

One of the NM casting sites is a feature film casting for filming in August/September. They seemed excited to finally be putting out a casting call again.

Something is going on with Inferno, it appeared in last weeks Production Weekly, but I'm not paying $75 to see exactly what it is. The last time it appeared in the same publication was in March was right when it seemed pre production was underway.

And as a side note, whatever Neill was announcing he was filming is being filmed right now in BC, ironically not far from Taylor's hometown. They were filming today at a coffee shop.

That's fantastic news!! I hope they are able to get underway soon.

Neill must just be doing the short film in BC or they've completely flipped the script and are filming up in Canada. But I doubt it, I think there'd be more fanfare if a production like Inferno got underway.

Great news ... I sure hope something starts soon. To think, with no COVID, this project would already be finished filming.

SouthernSweetieTX 07-07-2020 09:53 PM

Maybe they could move it to Texas and keep Taylor at home. :)

worthyoflove 07-08-2020 03:24 PM

It would probably for sure be done filming by now! Movies usually film pretty quickly, two, maybe three months, if they'd started in early April they'd be done by now.

Not going to think too hard about the fact that they were originally aiming for the weekend before memorial day release date in 2021, that's the start of big summer blockbuster releases.

I did just see that there was a casting call in NM for a feature film that will be filming in late August. Some of the parts could conceivably be for Inferno but I'm guessing at this point.

SouthernSweetieTX 07-09-2020 06:38 PM

I hope the casting call is for Inferno! Nothing would make me happier than to see some sense of normalcy again.

One was for a deputy, which we know he's a police officer, and another was for a store clerk...which in the character description one of the female characters is a gas station clerk i believe.

That's kind of what piqued my interest in the casting call. The agency also mentioned that more would be coming for that film.
